Anyone else wish we could get a city warn system back ( or something like it.)

At the time their was alot fo griefing and I'm sure if the yput it back their would be more.

But I kind of miss the ability to go into a town not knowing if I will be shot on sight heh. Keeps me on my toes. maybe have it tell you that you can be shot when you first enter a town so if you don't want to risk it you can turn back around.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

I find it likely that most people, if not everyone, would rather have the system back and simply not greif it than have the system removed so that they don't grief it.

But simply because of how human nature works, if you put it back, people will almost definetly grief it.

Well, I think the main problem is that people have been allowed to build player cities on top of POI's, and citywarn would allow then to deny people content.

But, I still really want citywarn back.

I would love to have it back in the game.

The simple answer would be to institute a few changes.

Give city warn a longer timer. Sometimes it will take a few minutes.

CIty warn should be like cityban once its applied it sticks forever.

Give cities the option to turn it on and off.

When a player enters the city if the function is on they get a warning. This city is heavily policed you better watch yourself. In big freaking red letters.

When a player gets a city warn it breaks all crafting boxes, and there is an audible beep in the game.

If these were all the case. Then I just cannot see a player saying I didnt know or I didnt see it comeing.

You got warned comeing in you had ample time to get away you got a warning beep, and if you had the volume jacked down it would break any subwindow you were in. At that point you would have maybe an unmerited city warn kill one in ten thousand times, and that would be a guy who went afk in the middle of a player city, and a militia member saw and did not like him.

Hell you even have to use common sense when you go afk in npc cities because of thugs and so on.

/citywarn and /cityban were the stupidest, most un-thoughtout things invented and should never come back.

Player cities are limited, and because there are a finite number of them, making it possible to render this area of content unaccessable to a given individual is wrong. All player cities belong to all people, not just a select few. A guild may be responsible for a city coming into being and growing, but that does not make that city the property of that guild. Player cities belong to all players, and giving the managers of a city the ability to exclude others for any reason is just wrong.

Player cities are mis-named. They should be called Player-created cities. Player cities denotes some for of ownership, which some people believe to be true. No matter how much of your resources, or time, or whatever individuals put into a city, it belongs to every player on that server and should be accessible to them.

If you have a problem with someone in a town, you /report him or her and let the CSR's deal with it. Players simply can't be trusted with any sort of power.

First thing.. /cityban is STILL in game Not that it actually works the way that it should but it is there.

Second.. how can you say that ALL player cities belong to everyone?? I'm sorry, but my city on Gorath belongs to those that live there and call it home. Those that support the city at any and all costs. I'm sorry, you're obviously not part of a fantastic player city that gives this game a community feel.

The problem that came in is when the DEVS did not put no build zones near POI's. Do i agree with the people that use /cityban and /citywarn for their own personal pleasure? Hell no i don't. They need a good slap upside the head.

Now I do believe /citywarn should be reinstated, but with a 3-5min timer. This way when you /citywarn someone they have 3-5min to get out of the city. I think this is a reasonable solution to all those that feel that they have been "griefed" by the previous system considering it was only a 30sec timer before. You can still access POI's easily even if you have been city warned because nobody can say that 5min is not enough time to get out of even the biggest Player City.

That's just my two cents

Well maybe there is a simple solution to the cities near POI's

IF city is using its Citywarn in a way to keep people away from the POI then the CSR's can just take that cities ability to citywarn away..

Their fault for mis using it and being near a POI if they don't like it move the city.

I'm banned over and over in same city being in wrong time of their bases matches my playtime by different militas. Everytime I had to explain why I am there actually with honesty. Why I was there? Because of POI to get a corvette ticket. Ofcourse it is their city and they placed it to be close to POI and I'm using their shuttle (which I'm killed a few times because they placed 3 bases on each side of shuttle with scanners as I step off shuttle)

To be honest, only citywith a shuttleport on Lok in South area on my server. I'm just lazy to drive 8K kilometers. Never into PvP nor some elses base destroying. How am I supposed to do with Dancer / Swordsman template anyway..

I'm sure they would use /citywarn on me withouta question, since they banned me without a question as I wait for shuttle to come.

The thing that infuriates me is when a group of my towns enemies land in our town (who were all previously citybanned (yet they still expolit the system to use OUR shuttle (we crafted and paid for it so its ours))
They land at a time when we are low on players (we are quiet certain times of the day) with their nice gank squad of jedi knights doing their best to get missions on the paddies grinding out of our town.
We've had people sit in our town refusing to move whilst they give our rude remarks to the guild.
In both cases all we can do is /cityban them which prevents them from using our vendors, cloning center, terminals and supposidly shuttle ROFL! yet they can still wander aroudn our town freely, city warn would mean that they could (in most cases) be ejected from the town so we can continue to socialise in peace in our personal haven.

In summary citywarn is useless, we need something that actually stops them from entering our boundaries (we arent near a poi or anything of interest) or at least penalise them if they do.

Bingo, and instead of fixing it correctly, like a "no build zone" around POI, they took the easy way out and nerfed PC cities. Maybe with the new era of communication and developement, the Devs will revisit this issue. I know there are a few who dont want this, but I'm equally posisitive that the majority of people want it back.

And if they institutea no build zone around a POI, and your city violates it because of previous placement, you have 2 weeks to move it before the offending buildings are deleted.

Wow, I wish you were on my server. That way, since they are "everyone's", you could drop your donations into our city treasury. The folks on Starsider must think you are great.......

you are donating to all of "your" cities, right?
