Thread: Building Purge I SURE HOPE this is going to be THOUGHT out
This is going to be one of the more touchy patches or publishes rolled out. Are the accounts you have lot traded with still active player accounts? If they are still active and the buildings are being utilized, hopefully you will be ok. Unfortunately the player base will have little to no input as to the parameters used for this purge. I support removing the auto-deduction format and go back to the maintenance expiration mode and let buildings, harvesters and factories go poof like the old days.
It's never a good idea to use structures that belong to players that have cancelled because you have no guarantee on how long those structures will remain (and no reimbursement for things lost, either, since you do not own the structure).
This is the inherint problem with lot-trades as well, be it same-server or cross-server. Unless you maintain regular contact with the owner, you're opening yourself up to potential problems.

Bingo. And whining about the fact that you have put any items you want to retain in the hands of people not paying SOE the $14.99 per month anymore is not going to be productive. Why should SOE waste server space and retain it for people that are no longer playing? Especially when this space can be used by people that ARE paying SOE.
Believe me, I am not a defender of SOE in many of their decisions (check my other posts...), but I do agree with their right to cater to their current subscribers, not former ones. I have been part of 2 player cities that ebbed and flowed and collapsed eventually. Just part of the cycle.

If I read it right these houses are going to be packed up to that x-players datapad.
It is stated that a house will not be able to be packed if it has a vender. All venders will have to be removed before a house can be packed up.
It is my understanding (though limited at times) that just houses were included in the "purge" using the house pack-up mode.
Please correct me if there is something stated by SOE that says different (not like that really makes a difference at times)
i hope the will just take off the condemmed structure for an brief moment. or pull/delete all condemmed structures.
as stated many of us have lot swaps. proberly with activa and inactive players. active should be safe. inactive depand on how long it been inactive. if i rmeber correctly. they will store data from inactive account for 6months. after that its unsure.
if they pull off all the inactive and condemmed structures many player will get pissed. yes for some may actually use inactive players stuff. but they will just redo the lot trade.
as i can se it soe will announce this(i hope) early enough so that player are able to "store" their stuff or try contact swap guys. lol
We're not doing it for free space, we're only doing it because we have no idea if he has quit or not. It'll be a rude awakening if it poofs on us.
