How about we make it illegal to be armed and armored to the teeth with actively equipped weapons in hand in the cities? When you have a violation, STs show up in force and enorce the law.

I think you miss my point. No one should be carrying equipped weapons in civilized cities except legal authorities. And I am not talking factioned "officers" of eithe side. I mean everyone that is a player.

Why do you need quick draw? If someone else equips a weapon, then the STs will beat them down. Get all the wild west combat out of the cities.

I like the quick draw, gees do I realy need a reason.

Besides a covert Rebel would need a way of protecting themself, and what about Bounty Hunters that track down their mark to a city?

It's always possible that a huge squad of stormies can drop on top of you at a moments notice. I just had 8 regular stormies, 2 heavy armored versions of stormies, and 2 officers dropped on top of me not 30 minutes ago on Yavin. Scared the hell out of me.

I like the idea. In the expanded Galaxy, most systems do not let anything stronger thana stun baton to be used (where stun weapons are actually non-lethal). And throughout the Empire regulated systems, no weapons larger than personal defense sidearms are allowed in the open (allows CDEF and D18, but not DL-44 or larger; No carbines or rifles either). Basically anything that could easily kill a Stormtrooper is illegal to possess.

But again, that was also an enforcement issue. Han always carried his DL-44, and even Luke started to in Empire. But never did we see a rifle (except Luke's hunting rifle, eq. to Tusken Rifle) or carbine used by anyone other than a ST in civilized areas.

Not bad thoughts. Civilized cities would not allowanyone to openly carry lethal lweapons and in many RL cities you can't even carry so-called non-lethals like electrostun devices or mace or such things.

I'd say using STs and all the local security force NPCs would work well. If someone enters a city with a weapon equipped they get fined and must choose to unequip or not. If the player decides to unequip the weapon, then they are just fined, but if they choose to keep it equipped, then they are attacked/arrested by the security forces.

i like this idea, except, overt imperials will always be armed. in effect, they are the law. in criminal^H^H^H^H^H^H rebel controlled cities, overt rebs could be armed.

now, does this include battle droids & pets also?

Which of course would lend to the argument that this favors Imps. But the in the Star Wars realm, neutral citizens are the most common, then Imperials, and finally a very few Overt Rebels (who would never enter an Imperial-occupiedcity except on hit-and-run missions, not to sit in a cantina and watch semi-nude Twi-lek dancers). And most of them are the result of infamy, not choice.

Battle droids and pets in cities are a hot topic right now because they lend to graphical lag. So my vote is to store them in town anyway. Certain droids (Probe droids) should be considered weapons (and in fact any armeddroid isillegal in most systems, since sentients do not like the idea of being killed by a soulless machine that can outthink and outmanuever them, and is prone to system failures). Certain pets should also not be available in town. Walking into town with 2 Rancors in tow is preposterous. You want to be a wild mountainman with your pets, that's your business. However smaller, naturally non-aggropets (Gorgs, most Banthas, et al) is realistic and should be ok (except for lag issues of course, but that's off topic). Naturally aggro pets should be included under weapons.

Hmmm. As far as droids go, in game there isn't a real distinction between a combat droid and a utility droid. Pretty much any droid can be either. MSEs as bombs and probots as storage make defining a "law" for them a little tough. I would say as a general rule, droids would be fine.

Pets are relatively easy. If the pet is a mount, legal. If the pet is not a mount, then they are meant for combat and should be stored.

What do you think?
