Thread: Petition against Condemnation

OK, guys. The Dev's have made a big oopsie with the houses idea, maintenance and the condemnation of structures instead of deletion. I for one am not a Dev hater. I ama Dev Hater-Hater. If people have nothing better to do than flame the Dev's, stop playing the game.

BUT in this case I wonder where they are headed, so I ask where is the petition to sign against this? Please point me in the direction of a petition or if none exists, I will edit this post to be the petition. If we get an answer from the Dev's on how they will address the issues being raised, then fair enough. Until then, sign away!

The structures condemnation is a 'hidden?'-strategy from Devs, let me tell you why..:

They didn't know how to purge structures placed by players who not play anymore.. they announced a purge but it was cancelled because probably if they remove 'em the galaxy will look real EMPTY. So, in order to avoid it AND the next failure of many city levels (population would fall at least 50%), they took the condemnation option. Besides, is a measure to ...bug the server lot swap trades and maybe to keep re-activated accounters happy.

Would you care to elaborate a bit on just how this would "bug" the cross server lot trades? As long as anyone who is on admin to any structure places maintenance in it, that structure will not go to condemmend state. /shrug so a valid question is again placed... why not sweep away every old lot thats unused from inactive accounts? Hate to say it, but it just might have a POSITIVE outcome for all servers doing this... why? Well, we have a lot of new players that come and see what SWG is all about. We have the CURB coming in the near future and with all the support staff and new devs they have recently added, I am willing to bet many good things happen to the game this year.

With that said, by removing all the old lots from inactive accounts, (yes, this should include lot trades as well...) it will make more room for new players... will allow old cities to rebuild and regain new momentum instead of dealing with cold reality that its a ghost town with many lots that could be used for new players...etc etc etc. So many benefits to thecommunity to do this!

I guess I just want to see a purge done because every now and then, we need a "fire" to cleanse these lands... it will only strengthen em over time and gives ppl hope and some excitement in the rebuilding process. Just my thoughts and reasoning why this should happen. It would be good for the economy and the player base.

I'd like to see a purge get done too. It will help clean up the database and take a lot of stuff out of the system. Not to mention that "dead" housing can be an annoying problem

When someone disagrees with TJMaverick they are a dev hater. When he disagrees wit the devs its totally ok in his book. Anyone else who disagrees with the devs and have the nerve to post it must be a hater who has nothing better to do and should stop playing the game according to TJMaverick.

I think that one of the reasons this was added was that there have been alot of people who left the game only to return and had to start over because they lost everything but what was in their inventory and bank so now that wont happen. Just my thoughts.

Condemnation (according to JustG)is a step TOWARDS the purging (deletion)of inactive accounts. Do some research next time, these stupid petitions are just a waste of forum space.

It's for reactivating accounts soley

Mayors have been begging for the purge

Mayors want their cities active and vital and wasted space in inactive/condemned structrues is not helping. We needed the decay

The character purge is "vaporware" that JustG has sated has not even hit the in concept phase. Now you know they will not even run it until one or two months after the CU to get as many people backl as possible. JustG also stated the purge will go live in a few months. Now "few" is more than one. It is no commitment for any time soon

This needs to go away

There is zero technical reason for this to be a step.

The purge is "vaporware". In a post the charatcter purge has not even passed "In Concept".

The character purge will only hit those characters where their accounts have been CANCELLED for SIX months, it will not be based off of inactivity.

You need to read into it a bit. There is no reason for this except to have peoples crap stay around in order to have as many people come back after the CU. Because you know they will not run the purge until one or two months after the CU to potentially get more people back.

That is the motive of why he is calling it a prepatory step.

You need to do some research and lay off the bold white characters especially when you are the one who has not researched

Keep replying all you wish. It doesn't change the fact that a developer said this was the first step in the process to eventually purge the database of inactive accounts. I alsothink the legnth of time a house has been condemned is a great way to securely purge inactive buildings....it just makes sense to me.

Is there a timer on the condemnation? one toallowances of the difference between someone who just forgot and someone who left?

I can see the benefit of condeming houses without maintenance just in case an active player lost track of their housing. In that sense it's very helpful.

But it isn't at any point a step toward character purging.

That's not true. In fact, i can't even be arsed to defend myself against something as pathetic as your comment above.

I'm merely stating that I don't participate in the, "The Dev's are useless, they can't do anything right" discussion. I personally don't agree with everything they say and do, but I think that they need to have a serious rethink, or at least explain what's going on with this idea.

I'm not going to call them all the names under the sun becuase I disagree with them. That's a Dev Hater. There's nothing worse than un-constructive ass holes who have nothing better to do than flame other people.

Screw this, I'm going to the shops. Anyone want anything?
