Is it a ghost city or where you online when they where all asleep? Where they all inside of a house/cantina rather then milling about doing nothing just to be visible on your radar? Maybe they where out playing the game? There are plenty of cities that can be called ghost towns, but that's only because the community is out killing krayts.

No, it's actually true for some cities. Like the one I used to be in... literally three quarters of the citizens left the game, I recieved mail from most of them, and left their houses there. Hence, the city was still counted as much larger than it should have been.

Well, I think everybody knows how it works. It's justthat some people are using it. Or at leastit seems like many use the bug (or feature)that deletedcharacters won't be removed from citizenship, by paying maintenance to the unused houses.
Well... there are so many citys that are stuck at level x and that want to bring new activity to the planets with their citys but they just can't grow. There are complete ghost townswith small houses that are hold up by a few players. Can you please stop that? Even if you don't want to remove houses of deleted characters for some reason can you pleaseinlcude an "alive" check or somethingwithin thecity update?
Thank you

I believe that SOE keeps the char's data when an account is cancelled in the hopes they'll come back. So the playersmay not be deleting the char's but canceling the accounts, ie until revamp, or until they're bored w/WoW, or eq 2, or forever. Only after like 6 months willSOE 'purge' the char's data.

I tested it and it works. The house will remain after deleting the character. Even inactive accounts won't be removed from the citizen list.

I have sent tickets asking for a CSR to get rid of houses where the owners ceased to exist. I managed to get several houses removed by doing so.

Last time I checked the houses of a deleted character (not inactive account, but deleted! big difference!) got deleted too after server maintenance.

How, and who did you talk to? I've got a vacant (0 items) PA hall who's owner quit long ago and would be asploded by now under normal rules that won't go away. Talked to CS and they said tough luck 'plus or minus.' Was told that the problem is being pushed to development on the CS boards but I doubt that'll go too far meanwhile I"m holding the bill.

If the character has been deleted then sure citizenship should disappear at the same time (or next server maintenance).
On the other hand, a cancelled account while inactive still hold characters and the game needs to make sure these people don't lose everything they have just because they cancelled one month.
As such, the dev's have announced a few months ago that characters won't be wiped ifsaid account hasn't been inactive for more than 6 months.
Now, sure many accounts (and their characters) are wellpast thatdeadline but I guess you can consider this a favor from SOE/LA which possibly wants to let players waiting for the CU, come back to SWG.

well i know that 3 of my guild have been gone for over 6 monthsand there accounts have been unpaid for about 3 each but i also know that they are coming back and the only reason they havnt been on is because 2 are in the us army and another just had a kid so in my opinion it is a ver grey area to go into because i know that they worked hard on there chars and are coming back to the game so its a very thin line between the 1 player towns and the inactive players but for me i just think more fool the 1 player towns cos its costing them a fortune to maintain the town so let them carry on if they wanna do and pay into the swg economy let em i mean if they need there own shuttleport and stuff leave em to it cos they are more than likely to spend all there time in an npc town like coro looking for friends to join there 1 man town and slowly realise that the idea of a player town is a comunity thing and it only works if u have other profs/friends and community to make a player town work properly, i have a player town on infinity and all my members are active rpg players who love the game, and we built this town not for the fact that we thought hm we need a town but a way for us to emerse ourselves in the game even more and there is always half our town in town playing the game in our cantina or pa or townhall, the only thing i feel lakes is the fact that we dont want to have this emense bundle of houses just to rank up from players we dont know, now dont get me wrong we want a hospital and a shuttle but there just isnt enough players to go around and im happy our town being at the lvl it is but i do feel the shuttle should be earlier in the town lvl and hospital at same lvl as cantina, cos in all seriousness we could get our town to metropolis but we dont want to be jedi, we dont have a deep yearning for it so we wont unlock our second chars which would double our town and we are all fully fs enhanced........im trailing on here u get the idea, good post though i completeley agree with the player delete create towns though, i just wonder how many players towns would go pop if they sorted it though

I put in a ticket and requested that all the round houses where the maintenance was gone and the characters had not played in along time be deleted. We had given free round houses to some new players and they had quit playing.
When I came back online they were gone. Some of the best CSR response ever and I truly appreciated it.

I believe there is a character deletion cycle that runsfor all mmorpg games that is a timer for inactive accounts. When the timer reachs the deadline the account is then fully deleted. Usally its set up for either 24days or 24 months or around some odd months depending on what the dev placed it at. The 24days inactive means even if you have an object that is paid or in use example a shop but your not on for the straight amount of days then theaccount is deleted.
I dont know if swg has this but it might be something to ask the devs on live chat when the next one comes up. Other then that you have to wait until the maintance pool runs out and it gets destroyed from that.
