Thread: Should I complain about lot swapping? .. or just go exploit 100 extra lots like everyone else

Fake cities that hold real cities back.

Entire regions of planets that look like Arlington Cemetary.

People stashing so much stuff they never have to buy from other players, so many swapped harvesters flooding the market with lot swapped generated resources.

The simplest solution to this is a hard cap on lots per account.

You've got your 10 lots on one server, and you can go play another server and do 10 lots there .. but thats it. So 20 lots per account with a max of 10 per server. There would still be lot swapping but it would not be such a plague like it is now.

If you agree, then post here, and if you disagree then post here too, becauseI would like to hear an argument against this.

No. What if you have3 characters on one accountThats30 lot's right there, thats 10 over your supposed hard cap.

A breakdown of my lots:

A guild hall (5)

A large house (5)

-------------------------

A large house (5)

A Small house (2)

-----------------------------

A Small house (2)

Merchant tent (1)

Factory (1)

Factory (1)

and the rest filled up with harvesters.

Also minus lot's if the Yacht takes up any lot's.

So thats 30 lot's on 3 characters. So a 20 lot Account hard cap wouldnt be very good.

Also i do not lot swap.

Sharing an account is a violation of the EULA. I wouldn't go around advertizing that you do.

You should go get 100 lots like everyone esle. Lot swaping provides loads of grind resources at CHEAP prices. get rid of them and see ALL resources prices at leastdouble overnight.

The dev's will be trying to CURB lot swapping with the next expansion. I think we've all heard about harvesting asteroids. There is no way someone can trade lots to harvest more asteroids. It will require real live players to be in game to actively harvest. It should be interesting to see what this does to the lot trading community while they flood the market with useless resources...

"You should go get 100 lots like everyone esle. Lot swaping provides loads of grind resources at CHEAP prices. get rid of them and see ALL resources prices at least double overnight."

Yes It does provide cheap resources for grinding but it artifically lowers resource prices (organic resources prices bears this out, given lot swapping cannot affect the pricing of organic goods).

the CPU for mineral/chemical reosurces needs to be governed my the quality NOT the quantity. 3 CPU for the BEST minerals is way too low. Those prices make sense for the average or poor quality minerals but not for minerals with 900+ stats.

The lot swapping has given us the effect of being able to have the highest quality goods at artifically deflated prices, and making the market for lesser goods non-existant (the low qual stuff becomes just grinding fodder). If the best T21, made from the best materials commaned a MUCH higher price because of rare, high qual resources, you would see a lot more people running around with laser rifles, or CDEF pistols, as there would actually be a market for them.

Really what lot swapping has allowed, is for the market to get flooded w/ cheap, high qual items, leaving no room for the other 80% of crafted goods that are of lower caliber & quality, which makes the market limited to Master level crafters, as there is no market, thus no point in being a lower level crafter.

Its prolly too late now, as this Pandora's box is already open, but if there was a 'do over' I would have limited the toons to one account, one server, making lot swaps impossible. (I do think its ok to get a 2nd account if you actually want to pay for the privledge of the 2nd character and extra lots, rather than getting the lots FREE like you can now)

How does that curb lot swapping? Regardless of what resources you can get from asteroids that mining is done using ships that don't take space other than in your datapad. So what exactly is space mining supposed to do that curbs lot trading? Since peoplecan dolot trades for storage space, space mining will encourage more lot trading, not less.

It might help to curb lot swapping because harvesting in space is actually done by the player, you don't just plop down some harvesters and go away then come back 2 days later, and have a ton of resources to pickup

How about I explain it like this. How will space mining keep a person frommining on land via lot trades, since he can do both land and space mining at the same time?

Ok well since people can open their FS slot for another character with 10 more lots, the most lots a person can techically have currentlyper account per server is 20.

So instead of 20, make it 40 lots per account. Then you can play 2 servers with jedi and alt char on each and have all 40 lots used ... nobody needs more than that sorry. 99.9% of players only play one or 2 servers.

Hard cap it at 40 lots per account .. its really simple. Then we can figure out ways to stop lot swapping within that but this would be a good start.

While I'd be inclined to believe you, I don't know where you get the information that 99.9% of players only play one or 2 servers.

I've never heard of lot swamping before, I have been on SWG for about 2 years and yet never, or no one has ever spoken about this before? Is it maybe because I live on Shadowfire, one of the smallest servers, anyway how is lot swamping done?

Your solution ignores people who actually do play on those other servers though. It would also limit the amount of swapped lots if we only had 1 character per account total but I wouldn't be shouting for that from the mountaintops because it's an inappropriate way to actually solve a problem.

6 week inactivity rule just needs to be put back in randomly for player cities to be removed from lot swap citizens but I fail to see how it could be done for buildings themselves without griefing people who have....well you know, lives.
