What if one day, all structures were redeeded to the owners, and everyone given a chance to build new towns from scratch? I for one would definitely go for it. Granted, the first week would be hectic, but lets face it; Server lag is getting crazy, and many towns are dead. I personally think they should limit the amount of structures placed per account and not server, and redeed them all.

Uh why would the devs want to do this? And can you imagine the clamor from everyone if suddenly all the structures were redeeded WITH ALL THE ITEMS STILL INSIDE. The issue of ghost towns and abandoned houses will eventually be addressed in player wipes.

I realize that there are lots of ghost towns and whatnot, but honestly what about all those cities that worked hard to get where they are. To make thier city what it is today, then take it all away because of this. Lag is all what you make of it. I live in a metropolis city which has no lag, unless the entire server is having troubles. But if there are like 20 people there, its nothing, no high pings, no spikes in the framerate. I guess its just good location.

I know it might sound like a good idea, but in all reality it would be a nightmare for all involved.

I don't think the lag issue hasmuch to do with the ghost towns.

As the mayor of a near ghost town I'd like the power to "evict" or otherwise impose "immenent domain" over structures in my city. I have many player structures in the way and would like to freshen the city to keep it alive.

Ok, being able to evict empty houses would be nice, but redeeding everybody would be horrible.

Btw, do you have your own town, or are you just wishing for one?

I like this idea. Maybe the mayor could do an evition check on any house or structure in city limits. Then if system finds it to belong to an inactive account, He has power toinstitute condemnation ofhouse. If owner hasnt reactivated account in 2 weeks, house is marked for condemnation. Mayor may remove and auction any items within and destroy structure.

But you'll really never see anything but what you have right now. They want players to return, and keeping their stuff safe for them is an incentative for them to return. Sad, it diminishes the paying customers enjoyment in favor of a return to play policy.

Now there's a bad idea....giving the items in the someone's house to the mayor to auction. Being able to evict a dead house would be better. The mayor can move it either to a different part of the city or outside the city all together. But only once condemned for a certain amount of time.

A better option, at least in my opinion, would be for a condemned house to be redeeded or go poof and all the items in the house goes into a special container that cannot be added to. Once the player logs back in, they get an email that the houses are gone and their stuff is in this container and they'll have a couple of weeks to get the stuff out of the container. That way, it accomplished SOE's goal of letting people still have their stuff if they come back to the game, and it also frees up space in cities for a mayor to get an active player in.

Cancelled 7/27/05 - I joined to play Star Wars, not Jedi-BH Wars. You've ignored/gutted/abused just about every other profession in the game, while spending most of your time working on Jedi and BH as they related to Jedi. You've basically killed the game for anyone who doesn't want the glowstick. Congratulations.

Ok, simple solution...

SOE takes all inactve player houses and remove them from server. They copy the house to a sub-server. When the player returns there house is safe just not on the server. When the player requests it back they will place it where the player wants it. I know they'll lose the location but if the create a subserver for all servers then it would be simple. Its basically a copy and paste job. You dont need to make landscape and what not just store the information in another file.. Get what I'm saying? Thats just my 2 cents. And the ghost towns are rather annoying.

No offence, but this is a HORRIBLE idea. Just because you didn't get a chance to make your own city doesn't mean we should ruin everyone elses (at least thats what I think your idea is). To be honest, an eviction tool for the mayor would be a MUCH better idea. Make it give a warning to the owner, but once a certain period of time passes, the structure goes kaboom.
