Thread: ****Please enforce the Citizen Purge, it is impossible for new cities to grow!!****
All I see above is sweeping statements more or less designed to hear yourself talk. These forums dont need anymore of that, they need more coherent ideas and specifics.
Your post offers nothing as to how to fix things or even specifics of why you think they need to be fixed in the first place. You arent helping anything by making the devs job harder and you accomplish nothing for the readers of these forums by adding an essentially useless thread.
Please, come back with something more coherent with why you think the problems you have are problems and why they need to be fixed. SPecifics, nuts and bolts things.
Thanks
Well said.

Perhaps if you did not have as much generalism and grandstanding, and presented specifically the things you want to see changed, it just might be something easier for the devs to read, understand and act on.

Mastodon wrote:you see, citizens purge, isn't clear enough for you? I founded a city 1 year ago, now it's 110 citizens who only play half of 'em (the rest is playin other games) so i know how fustrating may be to see big dead cities and your so active without facilities due to cap.
well why not move to the big dead city and make it big but active. on radiant i have noticed that two cities have vanished (the two near the imperial outpost), but on the other hand first of one was newly founded while these two have been disbanded (palithi) and some other towns had some grow. but in the last 3 month there were 6 towns newly founded and only some made it to the size nessary for shuttleports. maybe they should just work to gether and make one town instad of more. but to me it seems more and more players just want to play alone, that can't work in a mmorpg

Shame that your pointless personal attack at the original poster makes you look like an ***.
The original posters point is quite plain to see, and is obviously born out of frustration... which is a very good emotion for Devs to see in their players.... becuase it hits the mark. Whereas your reply isjust aloof and makes you look silly becuase you purposely overloooked hispoint to so some'grandstanding' of your own.
Anyway.... getting back to the original post.
I have just returned to SWG after a 6 month break, and it is sad andnot very inspiring to find city after city that is either dead or half dead and dying, whereas living cities are struggling becuase they cant get a shuttleport.
I can see why SoE do not want to purge 'dead' players, becuase they want players to come back, and people will not come back iof they think all their stuff has decayed or been purged.
I am no expert on how the game deals with player Cities, but rather than purge I would like to suggest an alternative system.
After a players account has been inactive for a set time (somewhere between 3 and 6 months) all their items in buildings are placed in a vault, their buildings re-deeded and placed in this vault too. Thiswould free up the land slots they are taking up. Then any city halls that have no active members or buildings left in them would bedestroyed after a small 'cooling' period.
When in inactive player comes back to the game they get an e-mail telling them where to access this vault to get their gear.
All this stuff is already taking up database space, so there is no loss. Everyone wins except the dying cities who would lose amentities, in which case they would have to go recruit.... which is how it should be.

Yes, I agree orginal posters message was useless - unless you know before hand what he means. Let's try to make this thread useful:
Orginal posteris refering to character purge that should help with capped planets problem - and removing houses that belong to unsubscribed accounts. Because inactive accounts houses are not deleted (they are condemended), this will cause thatmost of old cities have "condemended" houses that are blocking city development. Eventually cities with these condemended houses are translated to deserted ghost towns andremaining active playes are moving to new cities where they can continue development. Because each planet have maximal amount of different sized cities, end result is that these ghost towns are blocking development of new and active cities in the planet.
Developers promised to solve this deadlock by introducing character purge system that shoulddelete inactive account's houses after 6 months.

Our character and housing purge system is coming. Houses which belong to inactive accounts will be removed from the world, regardless of maintenance fees. More details will be out on this within a few weeks, well before it hits the servers.

This is coming soon (within a couple of months). The design will go into In-Concept soon. Short version is housing will be rolled up after 6 months and characters deleted after a year of non-payment. Yes, there are a lot of other provisos and details, but please wait for the design to show up and we will take feedback on it in concept.

This issue has crossed my mind more than once and I finally have the time to address it. How long does it take for a deleted character to be removed from the system? Also, if the account is deactivated, how long is it before the system purges the character? Any response is appreciated.

It has been now almost2 months from these messages - and developers hasn't done anything yet. Either developers have been busy with other features or this is tactical decision from them and they are hoping that expansion and combat upgrade will bring back lot's of lost customers. I hope that they are right, because I know lot's of frustrated guild leaders and mayours who have either quit or getting really angry, because non paying accounts are blocking their fun.

I am working on a new city, and without the citizen purge there is no way for us to grow and flourish. The current system is weak and flawed and it needs attention asap. Its time to let new cities grow, and to quit holding them down with inflated citizen counts from ghost towns. This is urgent and its game breaking for alot of individuals. The politician skill while youve made a mockery of it with no skill point usage deserves the same attention as other professions. We pay our 15$ at least give us a chance with a system that isnt broken. Its hard enough to try and create content for your customers, you should at least give us the tools we need.
5* mate. There are posts about the same subject everywhere else whats the harm of another 1.
And if the Devs dont do anything about it, more people will leave and there wont be anyone left.
