My house. At least ingame.I completely forgot about this forum and posted the same message in the Architect forum. I figured that I might as well share it here too, as well. This little tid bit hasn't been listed in the Publish 21 note, which is currently on Test Center.
Housing structures now have a really really really cool feature added. You can Pack up your house without cleaning it out first, and place it again, with everything still in the same spot that you left it. And I do mean everything. (well not completely sure about everything everything, but haven't seen anything get left out yet.) Maintenance, Admin list, structure name, furniture, etc will all be left as is, when you use this option. You can not pack up a house that has a vendor in it though.
Here is how it works...
On the structure radial menu there is now an option called 'Pack Up This Building'. It is the first listed option on the Structure Management menu. This option only shows up for those that own the structure. Here is a screen shot of the radial menu option. When you chose the menu option, a pop up dialogue box appears with the following message.
You are about to pack your house and all of its contents into a structure control device that will be stored in your datapad. Packing up your home does not refund the lots used by the house. In addition, you will continue to be charged maintenance costs on the house. You may unpack your house at any valid location, any time you wish.
Are you sure you want to pack your house at this time?
No
Yes
Here is a screen shot of the features dialogue box
Once selected, your house is boxed up and placed inside your datapad, for safe keeping. Here is a screen shot of the house control device. At this time, the Status menu option does not appear to function. You can add maintenance to the house control device, from the menu option. It would appear that the maintenance is added to the structure, without issue.
There is one issue that currently exisits with this feature that can cause some problems. When your house is packed up, the lots are still registered to the house. When you go to place the house, they system still recognizes the house placement as if it was directly from a deed, so it looks to see if you have lots available. The system won't use any additional lots to replace the house, but it will not let you replace the house if you do not have enough lots to place the structure normally. As long as you have the free lots needed to place the structure, as if you were placing it from a deed, there isn't an issue. I'm pretty certain that this is a bug, since it has the potential to cause a lot of issues if you were to Pack up all of your structures at the same time, otherwise this has the potential to become a CSR nightmare.
Once the house is turned into a House control device, it can not be traded or deleted. Normal placement rules still seem to apply to the structure.
This feature has to be one of the best to come out for aspiring house designers and those that simply want to move, but don't want to redesign their house each time that they do so.
A very nice potential use of this feature would be for completely decorated house sales. You could have a few model houses set up with furniture for a customer to look at. The customer could pick the home that they wanted. You would then be able to /transfer the structure to the new home owner. They would then be able to pack up the home and move it to the location of their choice.
The aspiring home designer could also simply pack up a house and bring it to a customers door, to show off a fully funished floor model. The potential for this kind of business is endless.
There is also the extremely great usefulness of interstelar generic house moving. You can plop down a Generic house and fill it up with stuff. Move to your new location and empty the house into another structure. This is of huge benefit to anyone that has ever moved their entier shop/business/house to another location. It allows you to move 380 items from one place to another, using your personal inventory, a back pack, 5 storage droids, and a Small/Medium house.
I just wanted to give you the heads up on a potentially nice feature that is being added, that will make being a home owner / interior designer much more fun.

That is EXTREMELY cool, when I starfted the game I parked my house near imperial hill on bestine but since then all my neighbors left and I was thinking of joining a player city with the house but I was too lazy to move all my crapI spent many months moving my crap around, and I didn't feel like picking up all 158 items (or so..)
Very nice. I wish there were like "tents" with a limited number of items.. not scout tents, just tents you can go into like small houses. I'd explore places and plop it down when you feel like it..be neat for RP.
Awsome hehe..now all they need is new housing types.

Seems like this could imack more than you thought. What about structures that take up six lots (e.g. a guildhall). If you have one of these down and you take it up into a house control device then you'll only have four lots left, and won't be able to place it!
Of course, SOE have probably thought of this and don't allow you to pack up guild halls... ![]()

Guild halls actually use 5 lots only, so not a problem. It's still obviously a bug though.
