One of the issues I have had when I make larger decorations (a fireplace, for instance) is lag from all the items stacked on top of each other. Do you encounter this with your creations? I don't build things for show as much as I do for decoration in my own functional dwellings. The problem with that is facing lag at home really bites. Any tips?

Sadly no, I get some lag too, but I've kinda started just taking it in stride. I expect it now, so its almost not like lag anymore. And on top of that, my laptop has low video memory so my mouse has like a half second delay on it. Now THAT is fun for crafting. Anyway, I think the only way to fix that is get more video memory. Thats what I'm doing this weekend...we'll see how it goes.
