Thread: Chefs need to learn prices
Starshine - 4 uses - 75 credits
Ruby ???? - 3 uses - 50 credits
Air Cake - 3 uses - 100 credits
I think that most people are going 3 or 4 times the number of ingredients.
Thus something with 10 hides and 10 water would be 20 ingredients or 60-80cr
I goa bit farther and just watch the bazaar... look at other prices and make sure to adjust acordingly.
Opeha
I usuallycharge by the buff and usage.
My price range is usually as follows:
Starshine Surprise 90-120 credits
Jawa Beer 85-100 credits
Ruby Bliel 85-100 credits
Caf 65-75 credits
Aitha 65-75 credits
Air Cake 55-65 credits
Tetlier Noodles 90-110 credits
My prices are usually lower than the other people selling food in the area. I just try to be fair and make a little money to pay for harvesters.
I sell Starshine Surprise's from 100credits to 250 credits. Course my Starshine Surprises have attribute buffs up to 136 in Strength and Stamina. I've also had some with 146+ to Stamina.
With them lasting 6 minutes, I don't have a problem with selling them for 200ish for an above average Starshine. I also sell Chardes and Cafs from 75credits to 175credits depending on the quality of the attribute buff.
I charge 3cr/resource if the ingredients can be harvested or sampled.
I charge 4cr/resource if the ingredients have to be hunted down.
So maybe that seems pricey to you, but I have heard no complaints from my customers.
After spending some time thinking about this and posting here for advice, I decided to go 3 or more per resource (I have a spreadsheet pricing resources on how hard different resources are to get) and tack on 5-10 for labor (this helps offset the price of items that take multiple components, like the cake). I also add on 20 if I sell to the bazaar, and if I like someone or they make a big order I take off 15-20%. I have a nice spreadsheet I'm working on for this, be happy to email to anyone interested - write [email protected].
Here's my current prices (add 20 for bazaar):
Air Cake: 100
Ruby Bliel: 125
Starshine Surprise: 130
Tetlier Noodles: 190
Wastril Break: 145
I thinka lot of people are sellingtoo low. Look at the other artisan classes - charging 3-4 per resource for items,or what people are selling resources for on the market. Also remember that our food is smaller and bulkier than something like a house, so it's much harder to make and sell a lot of it. Finally, think about the cost of running harvesters and a factory - it's not cheap. I've been getting a couple orders a day and selling a batch on the bazaar, making a few thousand. I go the the med center and make the same amount in tips in much less time! And the only property I'm able to really keep up is my house - I closed down my harvestors and am saving for a factory (which I think lets you make stuff in bigger stacks).
Please don't undercutme, you're hurting both of us
.
how much xp does a factory give vs. running costs. is it worth it as a novice chef to start a factory for the xp, or just grind away until you can make better items for more xp? i'd also like to be able to sell crates of food rather than 3-5 shot foods on the bazaar. novice chef food may not be the best, but if i sell it in bulk it makes a bit more sense.
also, kinda off topic, but:
grinding on 3 food crafting tools, making 3 westil breads a minute for 70 xp each (210 xp/minute) i'm getting approx. 12,600xp/hour, so i can fill one tier one box every 3 hours or so, there has to be a better way. i also noticed i don't get food crafting xp from any recipies in the domestic tree (air cake, starshine surprise, etc.), this needs to be changed. as a master artisan i get structure crafting xp for every harvester i craft, and i'm not even going into architect. but only my novice chef recipies give food crafting xp. shouldn't all foods give food crafting xp?
I hunt 6 hours a day for meat/hide, run harvesters, and still have to buy a lot of the resources I need.
If I run out of water, and want to buy it, on Tarquinas, it's 6-10cr a unit, many other resources are 5cr+ a unit.
I generally spend 10k a day on harvester upkeep & 3-4k on additional power, and sell about 5 items a day @ 50-250cr.
I cannot sell factory created food on the bazaar as people never look under crates, and as you only get 1 use per item, rather than 3+, its useless taking them out to sell.
People are only just realising what food does - I often can't even give away food for the UXP...
So, all in all, I charge less than it's cost me to make 9/10, and watch people sell their resources at 6cr-20cr a unit, and moan about food prices
