Small Glass - 10 gems

Large Glass -100 gems

I made up some caf. Small glass came out 6 uses. Large glass 9 uses. For 10x the resources I get 30 more uses? I'm not sure how this works with other recipies, but the reward doesn't seem to be worth it between these two containers.

When I made starshine surprise I got the same uses for each size container. 1 use each at basic level.

Hey, but the large glasses are great for grinding.

The large glasses are a little screwy, because they give 1.5x the base (small glass) quantity. The rounding seems to be done at an inconvenient place: instead of determining the quantity to one or two decimal places based on the experimentation, multiplying by 1.5 and then rounding, you get hit by the rounding twice. This means that you have to experiment the quantity to a point where you'd normally get a second additional dose, and with the large glass you'll jump 3 doses.

If you're going to use large glasses, stick to drinks that start with an even number of doses, and then don't bother experimenting quantity.

Hmm, that looks wrong. I haven't gotten my hands on any trim on Live, but here's how it worked on TC.

Making drinks with small glasses had certain "rollover" points when experimenting on quanity. The novice drinks went like this:

6 doses for Quantity < 25%
7 doses for 25% < Quantity < 50%
8 doses for 50% < Quantity < 75%
9 doses for Quantity > 75% (although 100% might get you 10).

Using larger containers, the rollover points were the same, but the doses got multiplied by whatever you were using (1.5x for large glasses, 3x for casks). So with large glasses you'd see this:

9doses for Quantity < 25% (6 * 1.5)
10doses for 25% < Quantity < 50% (7 * 1.5 is 10.5, which gets rounded to 10)
12doses for 50% < Quantity < 75%
13doses for Quantity > 75%

And for casks you'd see this:

18doses for Quantity < 25%
21doses for 25% < Quantity < 50%
24doses for 50% < Quantity < 75%
27doses for Quantity > 75% (although 100% might get you 10).

Any multiplier from a BE additive gets applied after the container multiplier, so a 150 Quantity tissue (2.5x to the number of doses) would give you 45 doses with a cask and less than 25% experimentation in quantity.

Are you sure you were using a cask? And were you comparing at the same quantity experimentation?

Ahhh!!! The barrel bug is spreading down the tree!

Sorry, I don't have any more useful advice other than /bug it.

Oh, wait, maybe I do. What were you crafting? There was a comment by TH that "some" drinks wouldn't benefit from container multipliers (this was when the barrel bug was reported on TestCenter). Although SirVimes got back an answer that made it sound like only T'illa T'ill wouldn't get the multiplier, it's designed as a single-dose item. Does this happen with all drinks, or are you working with some high-level drink like BoH? I got the 1.5x multiplier from large glasses to work with BoH (got 3 doses instead of 2), but like I said, I haven't tried casks on Live yet. Casks definitely worked with Vasarian on TC, though.

If drinks are going to have some limitation on what containers work, we're going to need to have that displayed right on the crafting screen. If there's no difference between small glass, large glass, or cask on T'illa T'ill, why is a large glass a valid container for it? Keeping track of more out-of-game information is going to get messy.

From the perspective of an experienced gamer (both online and good old-fashioned table-top roleplaying) I can understand the concept... the larger item is supposed to be significantly more expensive to balance the convenience of carrying more product. With the new stomach limitations, however, this is pretty much irrelevant. Without using a bio-engineer lightnening additive, the stomach use is so high that you have to wait about two or three times the durration of the buff after the period of the buff ended in order to use the buff again. If this wasn't the case, it might be worth paying for the largercontainer just to have the two or three extra buffs when you're out in the field.

Expirementing on Qty is very odd...I used a heavy Qty enhancer in BoH with a cask. Its started with 27 uses I put one point at a time in the qty line and the qty didnt chang until after 6 or 7 points. it jumped from 27 to 41 uses.
