Thread: A BE asking for a serious price check on chef tissues

I'm not asking for a flame fest. I'm curious what chefs think quality chef enhancements should sell for. I have a chef that purchases my products but I've been approached by other chefsto craft for them. I mainly make BSN and I've not marketed anything below +85. These are finished goods, not schematics. If you would like to post prices for other tissues I'd appreciate that information as well.

If possible I'm asking for the following information

1000 BSN +85 and above

1000 BSN +84 and below

smaller batches with the same stats.

Does it make sense to market to novice chefs who can't afford the full 1000 high end tissues with smaller batches of lower quality tissues?

Again, if you feel the need to flame please create another thread and I'll be happy to post there so you can tear me to shreads. I'm asking for a serious pricing discussion regardless of your server economies. I believe everyone will gain from a market comparison.

Thanks

I just paid 650k for a full run of 86's if that helps. It is the first run I have bought so I don't know how good or bad the price was...seemed reasonable though...and thats on Chilistra

Hi guys i got a question for you, whats the best qualityBE enchant you can make? is 86 good quality? And are these the ones used in brandy/canape? I'm at work right now and trying to get a list of things i need to make my first run of stuff. What does BNS stand for? I'm going back to the chef faq and keep working on my list, hope to master chef tonight

thanks,

I can tell you that on Intrepid the market price ranges from 30 - 55k for 85's. Half runs of high quality as well as reduced price, lower quality tissues still sell. Some will use the lower quality tissues in order to have 2 lines of the same product that they can sell at different price ranges.

If I were to recommend a good range that will make you decent profits and have chefs coming back, I'd suggest 30/37.5/45k for MSN/BSN/INN, but there may be factors on your server that are different from Intrepid that would cause you to need to adjust your pricing.

BSN = broad spectrum nutrients. I've never seen higher than +87 although with uber resources it may be possible to make.

When you say 30 - 55K for 85's that is per crate of 25 yes? That would mean a complete run of 85's would cost at least 1.2M credits. Do you get a break if you buy the complete run?

The nutrient enhancements cap out at 60 (for micronutrients), 90 (for broad spectrum nutrients) and 120 (for intelligent nanonutrients). Those numbers require 100% effectiveness experimentation, so you'll never actually see them on Live (although there were a few made during the one-day crafting revamp).

For medium nutrients, 85-86 seem to be pretty common, although you do occasionally come across 87 or even 88s. These are the tissues you'd use in Brandy (after making medium additives out of them). Canape take heavy additives, so while you can use BSNs, you'd be better off with INNs (Intelligent NanoNutrients) with a bonus around 114-116.

The value of additives depends on your server economy, but as an example, on Chimaera I pay ~1600 per BSN, sometimes more if supplies are scarce

I've never sold tissues, chef or tailor, in singles. I know bio-engineers that price their products as x amount of credits per tissue with x stats. It is a marketing ploy. The price looks better than if the bio-engineer advertises a complete run of tissues for 1.6M credits. That 1.6M credits seems huge compared to 1600 credits per tissue.

Absolutely, economics will be different from server to server.

My main objective is to get an idea what the price spectrum is, whether or not novice chefs would be interested in buying lower quality tissues at lower prices and in what quantities. The end goal of course is to see how I can use the information you all provide to better serve my customers but that doesn't mean everyone can't benefit from a discussion about prices, chefs and BE's alike, especially those that haven't bought or sold tissues.

I have been paying 2 million per full run of 87s recently. I might pay that much for 85s if I couldn't get better, but below that I think the price should drop off pretty fast.

I'm not sure about the market for small batches. Most of your customers will probably make enough money off the small batches that they will be looking for larger batches soon, but if you can do both it might be a good way to pick up new customers.

Great info. Like I said I don't craft anything under +85 but I have material that comes out +84 consistently. I might try marketing smaller quantities at lower prices to those that might not be able to afford the high end tissues.

I don't advertise my prices on the forum but I can fairly say I fall in the middle of the prices Saitek pays.

Thank you all for sharing your information. I believe my customers will benefit from your insights.

Well at the moment I pay 700-800k for the meat that goes into them. I would probably go no higher than 1.5 million per run for 86's. 1.3ish for 85's. 1 mil for 82-84 as they are still useful in all skill mod foods.

I don't know of any BEs on my server that sell them though.

I actually didn't realize how much I could pay for meat and still make it worthwhile. I guess I was counting the cost of flora a lot more than I should have.

I sell my +86 BSNs for 1.5M a full run (37.5k per crate if it makes you feel better) and +117 INs for 2M (50k a crate)

However, I offer a 1M discount on orders of 6 full runs

I'm paying anywhere from 800k to slightly over 1 mill for BSNs on Naritus. Some BE's charge me based on quality of additive, others don't, though Itend to only buy 85's or higher.
