Thread: Poll: Barrels...
- Remove it, casks are good enough.
- Make it a 4x multiplier on drink stack size
- Make it a 5x multiplier on drink stack size
- Make it a 4/5x multiplier on drink stack size, but only for drinks with a base 2-4 quantity (BoH, Mando Wine, Flameout, T'illa T'ill).
- Make it a 1x multiplier, but givethe drink a5-10% bonus to buff size, duration or both.
- Make it a 1x multiplier with no bonus just to mess with new Master Chefs who don't read the forums.
- Other (be specific)
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a promise of any sort that dev time is being spent on barrels (or anything else, for that matter). I also have no clue what the actual intended multiplier is supposed to be, I picked 4x and 5x as reasonable assumptions. It could be 3.5x. It could be 10x (but I doubt it).
I'm mainly just curious about your thoughts on what should be done with this persistent thorn in our side.
Some pros/cons to consider:
Barrel schematic: 300 non-ferrous metal, 1 control unit, 1 power conditioner
CU and PC are made by Master Artisan. This is more total resources than a cask, requires two different component types (so an additional factory run), and may require more skill point cost to the chef if they want to get MA to make their own, rather than the 11 points for Novice Tailor (which shares our pre-reqs) and Formal 1. That would depend on the particular chef's Artisan template.
The least amount of dev work is required for #6 (our current situtation), with #1, #2, and #3 probably close behind.
#2 and #3 means that drink repeat sales on large-stack drinks would be even less frequent.Right now,a crate of casked 45m brandy lasts roughly 170-200hours of in-game buff time. If barrels were 5x, that'd jump to
#4 would stop the creation of 28-35 stack brandy, but would limit barrels to a small subset of our drink menu. Plus having the "correct schematic" check will be more work. Is there anything in the game right now with a "basic / advanced" version of a component where advanced components are limited to certain items?
#5 is my personal favorite. Customers trade off more power for lower stack size (and thus more frequent purchases), but it 1) requires balance analysis and 2) makes the divide between drinks and foods larger.
#7 has potential, though...

#7 is by far the best idea!! ![]()
If I had to pick one, and its a dream pick:
8) 3-4 X buff size (same as Casks maybe) with a 5% buff/dur OR fill bonus....the bonus YOU experiment on.
so I make a 430 Brandy for 45mins, 50 fill, 21 use..with Casks..
With new barrels I could make 450 mfw OR 50min, or 45 fill instead...same uses....
The % could be worked on, 5%....would be ok, 10 might be too high, 7.5?...
Thanks for this thread,

second choice #5
Why is number 3 nicer, the way things are currently (might change with revamp) brandy sells a lot, even though we would slow down the purchase cylcle you can base your price per charge, having more charges on your brandy your price per crate can be higher. Having people not come back so often for brandy might not be that bad since its such a pain to make and throwing in an extra factory run at production isnt as bad as doing the whole run more often.
#5 is good also if combat revamp changes the way food is used but the balance issues that can appear will be a pain to sift through for the devs (but hey thats their job), also im not sure that a 10-15% increase in buff size is actually worth trading off 5X or even 3X the amount in a stack.

7) Increase the stack by a set amount. This MUST be fairly high to make it useful on some drinks and not useful on lower end ones. +10 would be my preference. This would be BoH and Mandolorian Wine at ~12 uses along with a few others.
