Thread: Price cuts to food and drinks happening due to bugged stacks?

I'm a bit concerned about food and drink prices after logging on today and checking the food and drinks i have placed on the bazaar. I've noticed people selling Tatooine Sunburns for 100 or less per use (eg. 700 credits for 8 uses) also i've seen a Angerian Fishak Surprise (700 credits for 8 uses). I thought to myself to check around other chef shops with player vendors to make sure it wasn't some bugged food being sold at such low cost and sure enough i'vefound a couple ofvendors selling stacks of 8 Tatooine Sunburns for 700 credits per stack as well as other drinks like 7 Durinfire for 450 credits.

Am i missing something here or has the bugged stack issue are starting to force chef to cut prices? I've noticed that sales have dropped alot in the last two days which i speculated it was either the bugged stacked issue or no one is interested.

Is there a website for me to doublecheck pricing, maybe i was selling too high at 200 per use at mostwhich i thought was reasonable at master level.

I need some help to see what they sell foods and drinks for on other servers. Maybe i was charging too much.

I haven't lowered my prices at all, and I'm backordered. I don't bother trying to sell sunburn anymore, lots of people getting to mix 2 for that and filling up the bazaars. I'm surprised fishak would go that low though.

Maybe prices will rebound after they fix the stacking bug. I'm hoping right now that it's just because of that, that the prices has come down so much.

For Tatooine Sunburns, I lowered my prices to 200/use from my vendor and 200/use+150 for bazaar. They still don't sell that great right now, and only a few repeat customers. I also started creating smaller stacks and boosting the duration and stat bonus a little to justify (to myself) selling them a bit more. Until they fix the stack bug I'm lowering my prices but I refuse to sell less that 3cr/resource for the rest of my food. The minute they fix this bug I'm adjusting my prices to 300/use for sunburns on the newbie planets and 400+ per use on the more advanced planets. I'm also using this time to lower my overhead and gather resources, and buy a factory. My vendor only has about 10-20 items in it at any one time, and large stacks I sell only on bazaar to keep my vendor maintenance down.

Funny thing is that I think I have sold more fire stews, blood chowders, and veghashes in the past week than I've sold TA's in the past two weeks. I'm wondering if my prices are too low for those...I'm still making money, but maybe I could be making more?

If the 100 max per schematic comes in, expect a massive increase in prices.

No longer will you be able to run 100 BoH overnight, as you will have to make a number of runs just for the alcohol, then 4 runs to make 4 crates.

This means you will spend all your time near your factory. Are YOU prepared to do that for the same prices you charge now ? I'm certainly not.

I refused to make broken food, and I still will not provide any for players, or thier pets.

I haven't lowered my prices for foods and drinks, but my customers have dwindled to almost nothing because of the bug. Thankfully I'm also a master architect to help pay off my harvesters and keep me going. If i was just a chef I would be in debt to everyone I know or I would've given up on chef and moved on to something else.

"Angerian Fishak Surprise (700 credits for 8 uses)"

People selling like this will just go out of business. Too bad for them but I don't care. Especially since it takes 2 aludian pu36.They just are too dumb to leave in a profit margin for taking care of their business.

Oh, and btw I am selling food just fine. I have a strong client base who like to clear me out every other day. This weekend I sold over 1 million in food. I use the pricing list that is now up on SWGchef and I charge per a dose.

I agree with Emalie. I hit about 1.5 million in the bank this weekend, and that's mostly from food. I'm using this money now to upgrade to all large harvestors and add factories (up to 4). There's another active master chef on Starsider who is experiencing the same kind of demand. And this is prices like 80k for a crate ofBOH and 50k for a crate of Fishak. People aren't complaining about these prices, and they aren't complaining about the stack bug if you are honest about it and give them the workaround.

The key is who you market to. My customers are all very hard-core players. They want the food for PVP or for hard core PVE like Bounty Hunter missions. They buy food, spice, and doc buffs and work to find the best combination of the three. They eat before every major fight. They have a lot of money and are willing to spend it for quality stuff.

The reason for my pricing is:

  • Demand. I can't keep up with orders, lowering my prices would make it worse. I sell partial crates and single stackson my vendor to people who can't afford a full crate.

  • Supply. There are only 3 master chefs on Starsider that are active that I know about. Chef sucks enough that there are very few of us. Yes there are not that many customers but those customers have even fewer suppliers.

  • Type of customers. We are not selling to the average Joe. The people who are looking for master food currently are advanced gamers who are actually researching food and knows what it does and its value. They don't need to be educated about the pros and cons of food vs. spice. They also have a lot of money to spend.

  • Quality + stack size. If you get 250 uses in a crate I charge more than 100 uses. If the buff is for 12 minutes I charge more than3 minutes. My prices range from 6k-80k a crate based on these attributes, not on resources. There are some items I will barely make a profit on because the ingredients cost nearly as much as I sell it for, because I can't see charging much more considering the size and length of the buff. When I explain this to my customers they are fine with it.

  • Challenge to make. BOH is a pain in the butt because of the amount of alcohol. Bivoli is a pain because of carnivore meat - I have to pop it out 1-2 crates at a time and I'm often paying 10cpu for the meat. I spend all of my online gaming time tending my factories and looking for resources. I buy resources off the bazaar regularly since I can't monitor everything on every planet.

I am right up there complaining about all the problems with chef. I think it's wrong that are class is so broken that we are in the bottom 5 for both masters and novices. I think me being successful has a lot to do with chefs being rare, and that the market couldn't really support more than a few chefs right now. I hate the bugs with schematics, the stack bug, and the fact that I only really sell from 8 recipes out of 120. I hate the duration of our food and the amount it fills you up. It bothers me that the tree is so unbalanced and so many people just get mix 2 for one item that stands out as better than any other. I'm burnt out taking care of my factories and all the crazy ingredients I need to collect which nobody seems to care about but chefs, so I can hardly find from other players and generally have to get myself. And most of all I hate it that many of my best friends and customers have quit the game because of a myriad of problems and balance issues, and not just with chefs.

But just because of these problems, don't think we can't sell, and don't sell yourself short by selling Fishak for 10k a crate. If you have to do that you might as well quit the profession or the game and do something else, because it isn't worth it.

I charge by resources not by stack. Depending on how many are on the markey I'll put my sunburns down on the bazaar for 600-800 each, and usually around 20k a crate.

it must really depend on your server population, awhile back when Corbantis was populated I was selling none stop.

Though I stoped making food buffs almost entirely it stoped selling completly .

I sell pet food Moun Gold and Neutron pixies non stop even now but food buffs will not be sold of my vender for weeks.

I have my cafe on the world map and its the closest housewest ofbestine every day the vender is emptied of my smuggler spices and my pet foods but the Tatoonie sunburns (20k per crate) and Rythcates (15k) as well as Fishaks (20.5k) do not sell.

Though when I advitise them on the Corbantis message board they will most likely sell out in a few days .. The thing is perhaps most people comming to buy food see the spices and prefer them anyways.

I know a neutron pixie is a great thing to use whenyou want PvE alittle also if you know you will probibly just die before 12 mins is up Spices side effects really dont mater.

if your making 1.5million in food and none of its comming from pet food then congratulations .. I've made in the past 2 nights only 350k selling pet food and smuggler spices but I think one sell was a tatoonie sunburn or it just came off my vender.
