Thread: Price cuts to food and drinks happening due to bugged stacks?
I've said it so many times, pricing comes down to two things:
1. Price what your customers will pay for the goods.
2. Price what your conscience allows.
I personally price what I think the food is worth, and I have yet tosee anything in the entireChef treeworth 300c per charge. Now, after they re-balance it...maybe.

The thing is perhaps most people comming to buy food see the spices and prefer them anyways.
I sell spices too. I have never sold spices to anyone who has not also bought food, and I have sold food to many people who have not bought spice. Partly that's because people show up for the food not the spice, knowing I'm a chef. But also it's because people know about the side effects of spice and don't see it as a perfect solution. I also spend quite a lot of time describing the effects of food to players and answering questions or giving recommendations, and I have standard emails that I will forward people describing exactly what stats are affected by how much (using my experimented stats, not the base ones you'll find on many chef sites).
Maybe Starsider has a bit larger of a population, or people are focusing more on PVP. But if that's the case, the other servers should come around in time.
The only food I'm selling are repeat orders from longterm customers who are willing to mess about with dropping food to fix it.
My PA want me to stay as chef, as I'm the only person they know of capable of making vercupti & angerian fishak, but to be honest, if the 100 Manufacturing Schematic limit comes in, I don't know if their needs will keep me as a chef - I have no intention of crafting 18/7 like I did in DAoC
I sincerely hope a sensible limit (a limit that lets us make 100 _final_ products, not 100 components) is settled on, but with the trend to nerf anything that increases database storage, I can't see em listening to us.
I know I certainly won't be able to keep up with the demand I have now, as I generally leave the factory overnight doing aludiums, starshines etc, so I can do a rum of 100 final products in the morning - once I cannot do that, I cannot provide what my PA needs, never mind what customers want. Therefor there's no point being a chef (and I dont know of any other Master Chef's on Tarq)
To SirVimes : I don't envy you the correspondants job currently, but I do have one request. Can you make it known on the correspondant forums that this suggestes 100 limit will hurt Chef, and possibly leave some servers with no Master Chefs ?
We have a high volume, low profit business, and crates are our main income Maybe we can persuade them for a sensible limit like 400 ?
I'm not sure how other Chefs on WH are doing. I stopped selling foods entirely. I had *just* started really building up a clientele when the stacked thing really manifested itself for me... And I got tired of dealing with 1. items disappearing from backpacks bought off a vendor, 2. the bugged stack thing itself, 3. people asking me for schematics for Tat Sunburn so they could make their own... *sighs* The work around doesn't work for me, though I also have heard from people who have NEVER had their food bugged... =( It's really annoying. Except for that bug I would have had a couple of really good customers but they weren't interested in dealing with a bugged stack everytime. And I just can't in good conscience sell things that don't work
I've tried to educate everyone I know (hoping the work around works for them) but it's just no substitute for a FIX.
I marked my Tat Sunburn for the Bazaar, down to 750 each (mostly because they only *had* one stack and because I was trying to get rid of my very first run). Most of them sold but they took a looooooong time. I'm not sure why either. I'd checked the Bazaar a few times and there weren't any other Sunburns on there really when I sold mine *shrugs*
And if you all haven't started doing this: I highly recommend (once food stack bug is fixed!) that you cross-merchandise your wares with an Armorsmith or two (or three). Since the pack thing is messed up too, I've been doing it like this: Veghash, experimented up for buff power, renamed to Armor Buff A. Felbar, experimented up for buff power, renamed to Armor Buff B. Then all you have to do is have the Armorsmith (or yourself, in your own shop) tell people to buy one of each. If people who're trying to put on armor are within about 100 points of their goals, I recommend this method to them. And it works in the field
Next to requests for mind buffing items, this is what I get asked about the most. I'm working on providing a decent line of alternates for those who need buffing in a certain secondary stat - but so far it's been pretty hard to balance the foods. Because of course there's the issue with how quickly they fill up and so I'm looking for a balance of drinks and foods. I really wish we had cheap 'bags' (that worked!)
Food currently sucks due to the food stack problem. I love omachek and bivoli and sunburns but say I buy just enough to use in one shot and something makes me log - boom, credits down the drain.
If they fix this stupid flaw you guys will start making bank, believe me. The damage I can do with mind food and tat sunburns is waaaay worth the price.

when they fix chef we will lose our one nitch of buffing mind..
thus killing chef for good and with the new Harvester Nerf making their capacity 10% of what it is now and making them take up 15% of the resources they do now most crafters I think will quit anyways
I know how ya feel, i usually throw a little food on the bazaar to show that im skilling up in my boxes and i cant compete at 2 cents per resource on Eclipse and our economy is sitting at 4-6 cents per resource. Im slowly building a customer base but its hard with the bug stacks in effect. Maybe when they fix us prices will go up and balance out on the economy - I hope. Cause im an independant owner/operator and i dont sell meds or dog food - i want to be a CHEF
Heres hoping to some love soon for us.
