LOL, ok. This is in no way a flame or me being rude. I am asking because I need to know if I am missing something here.

How is it or why is it that chefs sell their foods for SO MUCH?

I have stopped at 5 chef vendors (think thats all there is on my server ) and each and everyone of them place the foods in there for so much.

Example:

Angerian Fish.......... a crate of 25 for 100k! This added +585 Mind for 803s.

Now my spice (Muon Gold) adds 500 Mind, Focus, and Willpower for 800s, and this only costs 9k for 25 of them.

That's more stat increases, except for the 85 difference in Mind, for just as long but for a fraction of the cost.

Now,I know spice has downers and people are going incap, but thats only because they're stats go below 0. If they configured their stats right, then took a spice, then wore their armor, even in a downer time they will be ok, I know, I do it all the time.

Also, spice is broke, so that don't count.

Now I also know you guys are having a tough time finding your materials and I am truly sorry for that... but 100k for 25?

Is this normal food pricing? Please so no, or explain to me what it is I am missing as to why it costs so much. Because right now... my guild has no intentions of getting food for that cost, they deal with my spice. I am asking because one of our guys wants to Master Chef to help out with stats on top of our Doctors buffing, and my spice... but he was lost as to why so much.

That and we were gonna buy a ton till he gets Master... but wow...

Please explain to me?

Thanks a lot guys,

Neco

spice uses 45 resources and has a relatively low factory time to make, resource quality does not matter.

Personally I sell fishak 60k a crate..but fishak uses components that take a long time to make (as in run a factory 2 days) you have to use high quality resources in the components and in the final combine and a crate of fishak is about 200 servings depending on how its experimented while a crate of spices is 25 servings.

This means that 1 spice costs you at your 9k rate 360 credits. One fishak costs you 300 credits and has no downer. You tell me which is a better deal

Well, just so you know, a crate of food almost never is just 25 uses. It's 25 stacks of food, which usually has 3 or more uses PER stack. So a crate of 25 would often have 100 or more uses in it.

I also think you are underestimating how much people dislike downers. Nothing like fighting a krayt or a dark jedi only to have your character incapped due to vomiting

There will always be a market for spice (like real life drugs), and food as well. I liken food in SWG to health food IRL

I still have no idea why people complain about not making any money as a chef. ALL I sell is sunburn crates and pet food crates, and I am so rich that I have started only serving regular customers, and have ceases advertising, the /tells were so hard to keep up with.

cheers!

Ok, you state that you aren't looking for a flame, but it's a little like kicking a chef when he's down...first some things:

Unless someone is using very inferior ingredients, the crate of fishak likely has closer to 75 charges (conservative). The # of charges on drinks are broken, and don't display. So you can't know how many charges there are per stack. This is true for other drinks (foods seem to work).

The amount of factory time and resouces for fishak vs. muon is probably double on both accounts. Muon requires no sub-components. The ease of getting the muon schematic vs. the fishak schematic is also another reason (fishak is considerably harder to grind to). Muon crates are also much more available (at least on Ahazi).

At 100k, the fishak crates probably aren't flying off the shelves, but people are buying it.

Well there are quite a few differences. For one thing Fishak is a Master lvl food. You have to grind a hell of a lot of experience to reach the schematic compared to the spice tree.

Also 1 crate of (usual) Fishak is equal in charges to 8 crates of muon gold with no downer. (assuming its a 200 use crate)

You can use any resource you want no matter how crappy and get the same strength spice. We have to use quality resources that can be either hard to harvest or cost upwards of 10 cr per unit.

Fishak requires two 40 resource per unit subcomponents that have a complexity time of 196. (it takes almost 2 real life days to do a full run of these) and thats just the subcompenent.

i think you get the idea.

Um Thylacoleo, you sell BOH for 20k a crate?

Given an average of 200 uses per crate in a 8 charge stack thats

270 resources per stack of 8. Now given you can sell any resource no matter how crappy for 3 credits per thats 810 credits per stack totaling 20,250 credits base per resource cost per crate assuming you got all your resources for 3 cr per (if you bought them either you got a mega deal or these resources are total crap) and used someone elses factories that you dont have to pay for and your still losing money.

You have fun selling BOH for 20k a crate there friend. I'll stick to using quality resources, adding margins for time alotment and factory costs and a decent profit margin.

Any ingredient i use in my foods would sell for at least 7 credits a unit (all at least 875 oq and pe if not in the 950's) if not 10 creds per. If i was going to sell my food that cheap hell id just mine resources and sell those, why bother taking the time to make the food.

A commando/ch or bh/ch makes at least 50k-100k an hour. A crate of fishak or BoH will last that guy at least a week. For the time and energy it takes to make one of those crates, they should have a pretty good margin. I've steadily raised my prices because of my backorder.

Btw, Trigona, if you advertise those prices on your server boards, please come back next monday and tell us if you think it's worth it to sell that low. More power to you. My time is just worth more than that.

196 complexity!? oh my God... you poor buggers.

Ok, I got it though, thank you so much. I feel for you as far as the ingrediants and time.

You're right though, spice takes NO skill

So when a crate of, say fish, has a 25 in the upper corner that means there is 25 "GROUPS", "bundles" with each of those having about 8 applications?? Wow... way more uses then.

This is great, thanks alot guys I really appreciate this.

So 100k is a lot... that is on Dantooine also, that place always sells for so much more, I know a place (found it about 30 min ago) that sells crates of 25 for 50k, so thats much better.

Thanks a lot guys

"I charge 20k for a crate of Tat, BOH, Fishak and that is probably more than I should. "

ROFL

Lets see....1 run of BoH will tie up one factory for 48 hours straight. That ALONE is worth 20k.

Listen guys, don't let loose your venom on Chefs. The way the game currently is set up, food is probably more expensive than it is worth. When food gets better, I can guarantee the prices will be similar, but the product will be MUCH better. Look at it this way, I've seen people pay 20k for ONE night of Doctor buffs. +500 to all focuses for a total of 1750 to 3000 minutes (BoH, depending on crate size) does not seem like a bad deal to me at 60k a crate....call me crazy if you like.

And to the original poster, get your facts straight. A crate of food NEVER has only 25 charges. And with Angerian or Fishak, its almost always gonna be stackes of 7-12 (175-300 charges). Not to mention the LACK of a significant downer, and its portable.

Totally missed that post Neco, glad you found what you needed. 50k is a decent price.

I sell my Fishak crates (548 Mind, 721s, 200 units) per 50k and think this is a good price for me and for my customers. They sells very well and I have 2 factories running making the crates and I sell them as soon as I put them in the market.

Yes, I know there are chefs selling at lower prices (30k), but the quality of the fishaks is around 400-450, so They are indicated to a type of customers im not interested in. If i try to made the best item possible, using high quality and expensive ingredients, I want customers that apreciate the time invested in getting the best for them, not customers trying to pick any food just cause its cheaper. All my customers prefer quality over quantity and low prices and im happy with that.

For me chef proffession is not taking whatever ingredient and put them into the factory, takes time and much much love.
