Thread: What do YOU hate about dealing with those Bio-Engineers?

I'm a master bio-engineer and I'd like to know. Every so often BE's will complain about chefs over in our forum. The most common complaint is probably "They only want to pay us XXX for tissues, yet THEY charge YYY for a crate of ZZZ's!" (Usually the ZZZ is Vasarian Brandy). Occasionally a brave chef will post in a thread like that, but I figure you guys don't check out the BE board that often, so I'm posting here. I want to know your side. What do you like, love, dislike and hate about dealing with us BE's? Are you currently having good, bad, and/or frustrating experiences withus? And just what do you think fair prices are for MNS's, BSN's and INN's, and how did you come to those fair prices?

I dislike the complete and utter dependence us Chef's have on Bio-Engineers.

I'd rather depend on BEs then the hunters they have to deal with

I'm kinda married to my BE so we don't argue about price much

Id have to say I dislike the fact that some BE's think they can get away with makin me pay the price of a full run of the components when all I want is the schematic.

I agree I had a BE want to charge me 50k to make a schematic for BSNs. That seems a little high for a minute of work when the resources are given to them

Since MNS/BSN/INN aren't the main way BE's make money, I don't see why they have a problem making cheep schematics. I realize the chef make a ton more money than the BE from the deal, but thats just it, we're making chef products. We provide the rescources and the time, all we need from you is a dependency on additives. Though they are simple to make for a BE, they are vital to Chef's making some BE's feel they can charge more than they are really worth.

I guess that's just part of the game.

. . . and your right, noone likes hunters.

It takes alot longer then a minute to master BE

I'm a little shocked at some of the responses from chefs. In one thread we have a list of people who never make schems for peopleor who chrage fairly large sums for thier expertise ( sp) and in another we have chefs whining that BEs charge too much for schems.

They're not doing themselves any favors making you a schem, 50k is very very cheap considering how much you're saving over buying the final product. And I'm willing to bet most of you that get schems made don't sell for any cheaper.

maybe next time some of you should consider what you'd do if you where that BE. Remember they have a very limited market to sell to, they have one of the most painfull grinds in game ( dna sampling isn't fun ). You should consider yourself lucky they make you a schem at all for any price

Thx in advance for the one star

Now that a few posts have been made I figured I should post again. Regarding selling schematics, we BE's certainly had our own heated thread about it. I'm a little disappointed though. None of you chefs stated what you think fair prices for schematics or actual tissues were. Would any of you care to post again?

Well, the deal i have worked out with my BE is that i pay 1k per unit so that works out to them making roughly 1/6 of what I do when I sell my brandy.

Well, I'm a Chef/BE. I can't think of a food that cost more quality materials than the addative you put into it.When a BE puts more resources into a schematic and then sees those sell for much cheaperthan something that requires it, it kinda irks them. The profit margins for addatives is MUCH slimmer than for chefs.

Also, cheap schematics undermine crafting professions. I wouldn't make a free addative schematic for someone since I wouldn't make an alcohol, cask, and brandy schematic for them.

Hey eveyone read this..

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=bio-engineer&message.id=76071

this is the thread i started looking for a BE on my server. I think 50k per schematic is what i should pay and they want millions for it...And i still have to come up with the flora and the meat!

What kind of BS is this...O please 5 stars for me and 1 for them please......

A new chef who can't make top notch food is pretty much SOL. You new BE's are lucky enough that in a MUCH shorter amount of time, you can get decent resources to make competively powered food additives and quickly enter the market. You have 2 resources that need to be good to make good additives and that's it. Chefs need goodeverything on the entire flora tree, the whole creature tree, and parts of the mineral tree andchemical trees to make good stuff. Thattakes patience and dedication. That also justifies a higher price for the end products made vs. be food additives as far as charging credits per unit of resource. So that is why chefs deserve to be more profitiable in their food than BE's in their additives (note: I'm not considering the other items BE's make, just additives). But guess what... BE's demand to make as much as chefs do CPU wise. It's funny, but I've never had a tailor demand money for trim or trim schematics... heck, I've even gotten factory runs of trim for free just because they were bored! (I of course repayed them with food and whatnot.)

This is 100% BS. Just because you only need chef additives doesn't mean thats all a BE needs to make. You say chefs should make more money because they have to make so many things and BEs only make 3........ BEs make stims pets tailor additves and chef additives. Your example here would be likea weapon smithsaying I only want to buyportfrom you so all you have to do is find 3 things but I have to find so many resources to make the full line of melee and ranged weapons so I should make more money.

Becoming a master BE is not easy, getting to the trim box (formal wear 1) takes maybe 15 minutes. I sometimes grind it and make a few schems if my tailor isn't on. It has no stats and if you pay more then 1 cpu for any of it's parts you got riped off. A full run of trim is worth about 25k in parts BSN ( 87s )on my server have about 800k in parts......there's a huge diffrence.

Maybe if you paied your BEs what they deserve they would have enough money to get the parts they need to fill your order. My BE and I work as a team I pay her well and she makes sure I always have what I need. Maybe instead of being so greedy you should share your wealth, spending less time trying to save a bit on additves would free you to make more food.....where the real money is.
