Thread: are you guys making a large profit with chef?
If you are going to master it just to make a profit, then no, there is absolutely no profit in doing something just to make a profit. You will have no fun, and just be a burden to everyone that you complain to when you think it is boring, all because you are just trying to make a profit.
If you are truly grinding to chef to have fun, then I cannot answer, as I dont sell brandy.
If you are wanting to master chef to cash in on brandy, then your wasting your time. By the time you get to a point to make a decent brandy, then you will not be able to make an insane ammount on a crate of brandy. Everyone will still be drinking on the brandy they purchase and vendors will be full of crates of brandy. Reason for this is one crate of brandy has around140 hours of buff in it. How many hours a week of combat does an average player spend. 10-20 was the figured used. wow 7 weeks of buff for a casual gamer? hmmm.....

If you're after creds, you can't beat mining. Just get some high BER harvesters, look for a place with a whole bunch of other harvesters around it, and drop your own.
You can make millions that way, i've seen it done.

Id have to agree with everyone ... the profitability is now starting to wear thin. All the rich people already baught their brandy and are set for a long time. Im sure prices will go down slightly if not by allot now. Then the band-wagon chefs will leave because A) they already made the money or B) they are not selling as much and find chef boring to them and would rather move on. Its not the Flavor of the Month for nothing!
Well yes, the mad rush to obtain and tryout and become addicted to the new Brandy and Canape is over with. So if your wanting to make instant cash, dont bother. I just still enjoy hearing compliments on this stuff and sell a good amount daily. Even though the rush is over, it will come in waves as they run out in due time... muah muah... ![]()
Other then that, when i have time (lately) to get on, i have a blast with it.
It's not that profitable. People think it is because of the Brandy, but now that most everyone has their crate that will last forever, sales have dropped down. And I don't only sell Brandy. I have my vendors stocked with just about every single new food there is and sales are pretty slow. This weekend I am going to spend some time educating more folks about foods by making some crates of the skill foods and handing out a bunch of samples.
If you are REALLY interested in making money, either
A. Become an architect and stock TONS of the heavy harvesters. I can NEVER ever ever ever find heavy flora when I need to buy more and can never ever find most of the architect stuff I need. Keep your vendor well stocked and make yourself know. Keep your character searchable and you will make a lot. And if you offer deals for when people have a large purchase, even better. I pass the word of mouth when I find somebody I like doing business with.
B. Become a resources dealer. And not somebody who sells the good floras and metals for 10 CPU unless that is really the cheapest they go for. Reason not to be too expensive is that people will find somebody to do it cheaper or they will do it themselves.
IE: I outsource to somebody on my server. He harvests for me but I buy in bulk. So he harvested for me 300K of tubers and 300K of Fungi at 3.3cpu and made over 2 million. And it took him no time at all to do it with heavy harvesters thrown down on a good spot where there aren't a bunch of other harvesters. When I harvest stuff, I usually try to drive about 3K from town and keep surveying. I end up finding a 80%+ spot with nothing there and all mine!
