Dancer - Increased the effect of dance mind buffs. A master can now increase a stat up to double of its base value. Maximum durations have been increased to 2 hours.

Musician - See Dancer Above.

This is the death of the chef , not doc and entertainers controll the buffing world.

Its time for the to delete the chef as a class becuase Clearly its pointless . . . it was nice knowing they had a chance to make something out of it ..

Great thing is the Chef was one of the only classes to never be included in these updates with its own unique tab.

before dancer could buff for about 700 mind so now with that being doubled its most likely they can buff for 1400 mind.

Musician I would assume buffs willpower and focus for the same.. the new 2 hours duration of the buffs though is what drives the nail into the coffin.

Remember of course, the mind buffs' duration is based on the amount of time spent watching and listening (double the time you spent after getting fully mentally healed), so to hit that two hour marker, you'd have to sit for 1 hour (unless they changed this ration to quadruple the time you spend in which case you'd still have to sit for 30 min)

I wouldn't say that chefs are now worthless; that would be an absolute hyperbole. Food still has the advantage of being portable and being eaten right on demand. Sure, all foodcan use a boost to keep it useful and comprable to doctor and entertainer mindbuffs. So, I wouldn't gosaying the chef is worthless, but onlyweaker than it should be.

It wont take 30 mins , right now it takes about 5 mins to get max buffs and max duration which is only like ten mins.

Im sure they will leave it about the same in time needed to recieve the buffs.

Yeah, a crying shame that food buffs don't stack with these...

Oh wait...they do!

And food and drink are the only buffs (well, spice) that can be carried with a player anywhere.

End of the line? I don't think so.

Food isnt worthless but its not Worth a Elite Profesion now.

The Elite profesions which are Hybrid buffers can buff beter then the chef now every single one of them while the chef can still do nothing but buff.

Every single one of them is easier to level up the buffing abilities

If the Chef was ment to be the weakest buff provider in the game but with portable buffs, how many people would have wanted to play it?

The balance is getting way skewed now , They are enhancing the other classes buffs which means that any increase to chef buffs breaks the balancee even more making player characters even more powerful.

They can't retracked all the other profesions good buffs , but they are afriad to make a chef buff as good.

Why is this current version of a chef a elite profesion .. The devs never shined a light to why this class is in the game.

/sigh..

now eagerly awaiting the release of FFXI

- Sembel Ritari, Master Chef - Bloodfin Server
-edit- Would be master chef that is. Apparently the devs don't really care about fixing the fact that our products are pretty well broken.

So I guess that should read..
- Sembel Ritari, Idiot who wasted weeks to flush 92 skill points down the drain and is now too stubborn to give up all that work and try something else.

I am really dissapointed in the entire SOE development team. This really does take one of the unique useful things about chefs and hands it away.

All combat people will go to the cantina and get their mind wounds healed from an entertainer, and many of them take that opportunity to go AFK and get mind buffed. Now the buff is huge and lasts even longer.

Worst part, is entertainers are easy to find, and you can get their services for free or for a measly tip.

Of course people will want to take food with them if they needa buff while out in the field, but with what the entertainer can do now it takes a huge gouge out of our market.

I think ReblSoldier had a good pt when he said that we are no longer an elite profession. When I think of elite profession I think of a profession that is far more advanced in doing one or several useful unique tasks then any other group. Ranger has superior tracking abilities, Weaponsmiths make the best guns or melee, Swordsman are the best at using swords ( just an assumption there), Doctors are the best at healing a specific group of wounds, Tailors make the best clothes.

Though there is competitiion betweenWeaponsmiths for instance in the market, there market is not impeded on by several other professions. I see this the equivalent as if, armorsmiths could now make fantastic armor piercing weapons, making entire series of schematics for weaponsmiths pale in comparison.

If anything when doing updates to doctor and entertainer they should have also examined the impact our profession being as its closely related. However is obvious they did not as this only takes away from us.

i dont know why it posted that again ...

but its true anytime they enchance the other classes buffs with out acknowlaging the chef buffs its just going to hurt us in the end.

and as long as chef does nothing at all besides making food it deserves nothing but the best of the best when at master of the profesion.

Imagine in Dark Age of Camelot as a example.

One person was playing a Druid/Shaman/Cleric

The other person picked to play a Warden/Healer/Friar

Now the Druid/Shaman/Cleric put all there points into the Specilized buff lines for the best buffs.

while the Warden/Healer/Friar spent there points in there weapon or healing lines giving them the best Healing or some of the best combat skills in the game,,

Well what if then the baseline buffs that the Warden/Healer/Friar recieved were actually made beter then the Druid/Shaman/Cleric buffs they spent all there characters points to recieve .

but they made it so the really really weak useless Druid/Shaman/Cleric still can stack with the really really good Warden/Healer/Friar buffs.

Well thats how SWG is in terms of buff balance. The one Character who spends its entire set of skill points on buffing and nothing else is the weakest buffer but hey the buffs can stack with those other classes who basicly get buffs as a fun feature..

Why would anyone willingly sacrafice all there skill points to be the worst when they could sacrafice the same amount be beter and have the ability to do so much more.

I feel as if this profession is just getting phased out.

If they get rid of it they better be prepared to offer ALL my XP back and let me placed in ANY profession of my choosing.

( Haven't read the patchnotes yet, so if anything else changed, too... sorry )

>who basicly get buffs as a fun feature

Please keep in mind that this feature is only for Masters ! And Masters don't play or dance with Joe AFK Musician or Jane AFK Dancer at the cantina next door. Up to now, the Buff from entertainers was non-existant. Who stays 5 minutes for a 10 minute buff that won't even last to your mission target ? No one. I'm not sure if it's unbalanced now, time will tell.

While we wait, come over to the entertainer forum and help us nerf AFK musicians and dancers... less dancers, less bufs, right
