Thread: Do *you* have what it takes?
Ok, Mor-dan's post about his awesome double-buff vercupti got me thinking.
Are you good enough to be Iron Chef {your server here}?
Sure, you've made Master chef, but so have many other players. Can you set yourself above your peers, and prove that you truly are the best of the best?
It is time for Iron Chef SWG!
The rules are simple:
- Make the best Vercupti you can. Scoring will be based on total buff applied and duration (exact details below).
- No BE additives. This is a test purely of your chefly skills and your resource selection ability.
- Only 10 experimentation points, and no +assembly tapes. Take off those +experimentation clothes, show us what you can do with just your innate talent.
- Pyollean Cake, Bespin Port, research centers, and high-end tools/ stations, however, are all fair game.
- Photographic evidence will be required. Entries will need to provide a screenshot similar to this for posterity. No, that's not my entry. I'll be handling the judging, so it's probably better if I sit this one out. The winners will also be put up on a web page similar to the "Guys/Girls of SWG" calender done up a while back. The design for that is a little up in the air, I may simply crop to just the experimentation window and ask for a character screenshot in addition.
- Record the stats and names of the resources used and probably the success types received for each experiment. In the event of a dispute, you may need to provide these to authenticate your results. Also, I'd like to include the recipes used for the finalists.
- The entry will be scored with this formula: Buff Size * (100 / filling) * duration in minutes. So Mor-dan's vercupti would have a score of 1015 * (100 / 50 ) *(7 + 6/60)= 14413. This is an invalid contest entry, however, since it included BE additives, so don't worry if you can't break 10k.
- Ties will be broken by whoever has the highest total experimental percentages in Filling, Nutrition, and Flavor. Ties after that will be broken by experimental percentage in Quantity. In the event of a tie even with that, the title will be shared between the chefs.
- One Iron Chef will be selected for each server, so a server that happened to get uber resource spawns will not be directly competing against servers that weren't so lucky.
- CHANGED: Entry submission is to be done by replying to this thread with the your chef's name andyour server. Send the stats of your vercupti and a link to the screenshot in a PM to me. You can post the stats here if you wish, but realize that you're telling the competition what they have to beat. Multiple entries are allowed (only the last one sent will qualify), but I reserve the right to cut you off if it becomes excessive.
- Entry deadline is Friday, April 23rd, 11:59 pm Pacific. Winners will be selected and posted that weekend.
So dig out those small stacks of uber-tubers, impressive insect meat, and lovely lube oil you can't use in mass production, but couldn't bear to destroy. It may not be enough to do a factory run, but they may make you famous.
And find who is truly the Iron Chef of Star Wars Galaxies!
** edit stupid editing removing links... **
** Second edit: send stats an link for entries as a PM to me **

1058 x (100/49) x 7.1 = 15,324
Nice idea.

Lets say you post your screenshot, but then a few days later you made some with even better stats. Can you resubmit your new stats and screenshot in place of the old one?
That's a tough call. On the one hand, what if some amazing stuff spawns right after you submit. On the other, it might give later entries an unfair disadvantage since the ones they beat can retry.
Proposed rule amendment: Stats and a screen link to be sent as a PM to me. To make sure entries don't get missed (I'm not sure what the PM storage limit is and with the internet there's always a chance of things getting lost) also put a reply here saying your "application" has been sent, along with your personal information (name, server). Final numbers don't get shown until the actual rankings are listed.
Some more "drama" (since you won't know exactly where your entrystands), and you also have to decide for yourself whether something is "good enough".
Anyone see a problem with that? If too much is kept out of sight, there might be some worry of rigging or favoritism. I know I'll track everything by the book, but you may not trust me that far.
I'm for sure in on this!
I just want to reitterate that this is a non-BE contest, correct? Some of the stats some have posted so far lead me to believe those are BE'd. =)

Arielle, our PA Master Chef, make some 1215 Vercupti. I will speak with her, to she if she would like to enter.
Nice idea.
er...without any bioengineered additives? /boggle

my best BE vercupti would score a 15324 = )
1058 x (100/49) x 7.1 = 15,324
now do it without the BE additives
