what I mean is

Please post here the number you think the chef foods should be buffing to be "good" and usefull.

Personaly I think

past level 2 each line should be 1500 for secondary stats and 2000 for ham

but this isnt about what I think I want to see what everyone else thinks.

Domestic Arts foods that I condider 'worthwhile' making are (with experimentation):

Teltier Noodles at 110 health 80 Willpower for 300s

Ruby Blei at 80 Mind for 400s.

So scaling up from that I believe at Novice box we should have a progression like:

Novice Chef --->Buff single HAM stat +200 base(+400 for secondary)for 500s duration base.

Intermediate lines--->Buff single HAM stat +250 base (+500 secondary stats) for 600s duration base

Advanced lines -->Buff single HAM stat +350 base (+700 secondary stats) for 800s duration

Expert lines-->Buff single HAM stat +450 base (+900 secondary stats) for 1000s duration

Master Chef--Buff single HAM stat +500 base (+1000 secondary stats) for 1200s duration.

Multi-HAM buff enhancers would have a lower base, but of course affect more overall HAM stats, perhaps with a shorter duration.

I see this progression as similar to the doctor buff line. With the thought that at master eating 3 of a single food should be able to buff a single HAM stat into the +2000 range (after experimentation and all) for a 30 minute duration.

That would work well , the buffs for HAM should be bigger I personaly think , weapons are just too powerful for 500 to be a deciding factor

Rebl...re-read please. 500 base for a single food. You can eat approx 3 foods at once.

At the end of my post I clearly called out that a Master Chef buff, eaten multiple times to full, should be able to buff a HAM stat at +2000.

I totally agree with you that for PvP if a Chef can't buff a stat (especially Mind) for greater than +1500, its not going to make much difference.

Ok following my own advice, I re-read YOUR post. You state:

-------------

past level 2 each line should be 1500 for secondary stats and 2000 for ham

------------

Are you saying that a single food, which could be eaten 3 times, should buff for 2000 HAM (thus 6000 total when eating to full)?

If thats what your saying, then although I recognize this might actually make PvP more than a gank-one-shot-kill-fest, it would totally bork PvE. I don't think we will see a day when a Chef food can buff 6000 HAM points.

not exactly

first off they could start by balancing the harder monsters to the buffs like 90% of other mmrpgs out there

EQ DAoC AO and UO are blanaced PVE towards the best buffs you can compete with out having at least some buffs..

UO would be a bit difference sence there is no buffs , but you cant compete with out having Potions which is the closest thing to buff it really every had.

also ignore what my post said thats just my opinion , I want to know what everyone else thinks about chef buffs

I know what I would think would be most benifical I want to know what other people think would be good for the buffs to be..

we all have been talkiing about how weak the buffs actually are I want to know how extreme most people think the buffs should be bumped up too

I also think the stat buff/debuffs should be changed so that you gain 10x the amount debuffed example

if its -150 mind

then the + action lets say would need to be

+1500 action

that way the debuffs are worth the buff..

but thats just me I want to know other people opinions

well i'm a doctor i can give buffs to health and action at 1500 bonus. if a chef can make a food that gives a mind boost of that much... Woo hoo!

Even with a buff of 1500 in PvP what is that? An extra shot, maybe 2 depending on the starting pools value. With stacking it three times it might make a PvP fight last more then 2 seconds. =/

Sigh...everybody can make better buffs than us.

I still like holocrons initial plan. Our buffs are the weakest of the three (smugglers and doctors) but last the longest.

I think Ssauron has it about right(though my suggested buffs in the other thread were a bit lower).

Except that swap over the ham and secondary buffs... HAM buffs should be larger than the secondary ones... secondary can increase your regen speed quite a lot, so I think the possibility of eating 4 +1000 constitution/stamina/willpower shouldn't be there... you ever tried drinking 2 tatooine sunburns? Your action regens pretty **edit** fast...

We have other advantages over doctor and smuggler(read the other thread), so our buffs should not be stronger, but they should be close to equal. Close to equalbuffs+ portableness +lack of side effects+ possibility to use 4 at a time and switch buffs roughly every 5-10 minutes = more powerful than either doctor or smuggler, which we rightfully should be. If our buffs were also equal, we would be overpowerred and render doctor and smuggler useless, which the devs would never want to do. I dont want to render smuggler spices and doctors useless, we all have our slightly different ways of buffing, and should each have our advantages. Doctors and smugglers get better buffs, but with the disadvantage of side effects/non-portability/less flexibility.

Ok, I'm not a chef. I'd like to get that right out in the open. However, I'm a combat oriented person who depends on buffs to survive in the harsh evironment that is the SWG universe. I'd like to add my input to this little discussion.

First off, chef foods need at least two things to make them worthwhile. First, stronger buffs. There is nothing more useless than a 50-100 point stat increase. On higher level mobs that can hit for 400-500 per hit, that buff just doesn't cut it. The only thing that food with such a low buff is good for is fixing your stats from the stat bug.

Second, these buffs need to last a loooong time. When I'm out in the wilderness, I need a buff that lasts. I often see some foodstuffs with a duration of 60-100 seconds. That's way to short. Hell, in my opinion, even 600 seconds is to short, especially when there is so much walking involved in the game. You could buff just before you attack a lair on a 2 mission jaunt, then by the time you reach the next mission, your buffs are gone. I would suggest a 15 min minimum duration on high level foods. Or, and I'd like to stress that or, reduce the delay between "face stuffings." That way a 600s buff won't be so bad if you can re-apply in a short time.

Lastly, I'd like to point out that these are the suggestions of a fighter, someone who uses your buffs, not someone who makes them. I really want to buy and eat all of your foods, but right now the only use for most of your goods is readjusting stats from the stat bug. (Tatooine Sunburn is good stuff though! :smileyhappy
