Thread: The Confessions of a Frustrated Correspondent
I know there are alot of devs out there who are wonderful, very helpful and go out of their way to help people in the game. And to them, I applaud you.
/salute
However, I have here an nice little thread (be forewarned, it hails from the Squad Leader forums) that shows just how bad SOE or its representatives can be at times.
Thank you all for your time and patience, and god bless.
Good luck and good hunting.

Also I encourage you to examine this post:

They don't need TH to resign. They need to hire about three additional people to do his job.
I can't even read these boards for five minutes withouthammering outand (usually) deleting flames. This guy has to be nice again and again when, I guarantee, he isn't feeling particulalrly nice. That puts a whole heck of a lot of pressure on a person.
How many professions are there in this game? How many of those feel that they are getting everything they might wish for? And TH is trying to bring that all under wraps, as far as I can tell, virtually alone. Like I've said before, I hope his benefits package includes psychiatric care. I think the most ludicrous thing the SL correspondent said was that TH was a little over sensitive. I can't help but wonder if he can see past his own frustrations (which are warranted - SL if far more broken than chef)long enough to see that it would take a freakin rock to not develop a bit of sensitivity when you haveidiots screaming at you 12+ hours a day, blaming you for everything from their brokentoy gunto their mother's ex-convict sex addiction.
TH does need to make one change. He needs to stop making deadline type promises that he can't keep. Anyway, I have a feeling his optimism will be waning about now - the tension in that exchange looks like evidence of that.

Guys, let's not do this here. My own personal opinion is that both Thunderheart and CaptainVemnox both made mistakes. That is all there really is to it.
While I do think Thunderheart could be doing things better, he is still really new to this job. He is going to have some growing pains and make some mistakes. I do think, however, he is doing a better job than most people, including myself! I do not think he should resign.
Sounds like the Squad Leader Coorespondant was only concerned for himself and not for the other classes in the game.
*shrugs*
TH was nothing less than polite in his responses to him.
I can understand the sheer frustration Captain V felt at the attitude of TH, which leads to more problems in the process.
I honestly don't see why it is so hard to open one URL & look, but at the same time, how hard is it to post whats requested in the requested place. OK its annoying, and frustrating, but if it gets the job done, so be it.
From what I can gather from various posts by various correspondants, the Correspondant forums, and the entire programme are still a totall mess overall.
All we ever see are "soon" "maybe" "oo this may be a good idea" from the devs, with nothing concrete ever happening, other than more pipedreams.
It is no wonder the correspondants give up, & get defensive tbh.
From what I read in the thread, Voidwas in the wrong. It's very simple, TH askedVoid to post the top 5 in THAT thread, not post a link. TH asked the captain to summarize the top 5, which Void REFUSED to do.
Quite frankly Voidis apparently going to be a good example that having a piece of paper saying you major in communications doesn't mean you're actually good at it. Good Bye Void, I have no sympathy from readinghis side of the story which I would venture would be more biased towards himself anyway(not attacking him for that, anyone would spin the story for themselves, good or bad. Judging from the facts he himself lays out, he's wrong).
Frustration is one thing, but getting frustrated and NOT listening is poor communication. If you want to fix problems you have to listen and respond based on what power you have. As a correspondent, the only power you have is to give the devs what they ASK for.
On the point of working hard for the SLs, kudos. Hard work is rewarded so you may havea future yet in whatever line of work you pursue. However, you did volunteer to take the position. You knew it would be hard work. I personally knew I would not have the time to take a position of that magnitude with the limited amount of time I have so I declined to submit an application to the devs. Don't take the job if you can't spend the time on it. Yes, even as a volunteer. Imagine volunteering to build a "Habitat for Humanity" and then showing up at the jobsite and sitting on a pile of lumber all day watching others work. You wouldn't last long as a "volunteer" in that organization.
Word of advice to Void should he read this:
Should you EVER find a job in communications, don't use the line "But I have a major in communications so I know what I'm talking about". I guarantee you will not make friends or coworkers when you say that.
Hopefully my boss understands that I couldn't get to the other report because I was working on getting the33 that were done properly to him. I hope he understands that I am short handed and is reasonable enough to either assign project time to get it done so that I can get paid to do it or delegate the responsibility to my other employees if they are up for it. If the employee quit just before he walked in the room after not doing his job in the first place and the manager still can't understand that, then that is not the company I wish to work for as the management is not reasonable at all.
Good luck to you guys in getting your profession fixed.
