Thread: Any other chefs feel the patch has made making food too much work?
You know, I'm with you on this. I'm not a terribly stupid person but I feel like I need a degree in quantum mechanics just to make a crate of brandy. Maybe I should just stick with a combat class.

I like the fact that there's more food and drink to make... but the fact is there's only a few that people really want. I love the chef profession, I'd get bored with combat, but it's work. And to stay in the marketplace in game you just have to commit a few hours every day or two. Just how it works.
I'm also going to school and struggling. Time management is everything. Unfortunately I lack the skill. ![]()

Yes creating BE enhanced drinks has become a daunting task; it is basically the same factory time/runs as 2 factory runs of fishak. As I have posted before If someone logs in once a day and only has 1 factory it is a 8 day process to make a full run of brandy (assuming trim is purchased also) I havent actually calculated all of the component times, so it might be longer if any component takes longer than 24-26 hours to make. I do know that the BE tissue takes 52 hours to cook, just slightly less time than Aludium used to be.
3 days BE tissue
1 day Additive
2 days Alcohol
1 day Casks
1 day Brandy
8 Days for finished product.
Well you know what they say fine wine (or brandy in this case) doesnt happen overnight
I would like to see the BE tissue cooking time shortened though.

Itsway too much work IMO... we all WANT to make the good stuff, but to do that, we have to buy schematics from BE's (who, in which are suddenly getting big heads, in thinking charging us 200k for one is fair) plus you have to buy ungodly amounts of trim for your casks (which HAVE to be in factory crates to work) Plus, making the drink glasses is a big nuisance to me. It needs a whopping 150 crystalline (specifically) gemstone to make 1 damn glass. 1 GLASS! 150 units is a big chunk out of most peoples resources.
And of course, the biggest complaint I have, is all this factory time to make it all. First factory run, is to make these casks that need an absurd amount of trim and gemstone (if your making a lot). Plus you have to get this trimfrom a Tailor, which just makes things more difficult to obtain.3 years later, when thats all finished, you have to make some alcohol. 3 more years pass by, that finishes. Now, if you want the Brandy to be as good as everyone expects, you have to go find yourself a big headed Bio-Engineer who DOESNT want to charge you 200k for a schematic for medium nutrients. (I never expected it to be free, but jeez, the amounts some of them are asking is ridiculous.)
Now, everything is finally set, you throw it all in the factory and start to produce brandy. Then 1 and 1/2 years pass by and you get an email saying "Factory is out of Alcohol" WHAT?!?! DOH! I forgot to make TWICE as many alcohol crates as Brandy crates that I needed, since they need TWO identical alcohols per drink. (Novice Mathematician is a new requirement for Chef) Then you gotta do that... It just NEVER ENDS!! It could easily take new chefs who grinded their way up, 3 or 4 days just to make some good BE enhanced Brandy... I'm starting to feel like the 350k Chefs are charging for it per crateis all totally well deserved, and not just there for supply and demand.
Dont get me wrong, I'm still having a lot of fun with it, and I know the reward will more than pay back for all I've spent, but just gathering together the resources and components to make these things is harsh... maybe if Chefs could produce something the bio-engineers needed for one of their items, people could do business equally, trading one thing for another. Rather than one of the two trying to reap the others profit. It wouldn't solve everything, but it might help...
Ok, I've vented for today. What do you all think about this?
