How many lots is everyone running? I can't imagine anyone being a Chef with only 10 lots and do much business considering you need 2 factories just to run the components.

I'm running 40 lots. I'm in the process of getting 20 more lots.

I'm trying to find someone that is not doing lot trading or have 2 accounts and able to get by being a Chef.

The trick is to consider your trade partners as "partners" and to screen them well through dialogue before you make the commitment. It can be a horror show if you get the wrong person. To be the most effective (non-static trades) each of you will have to commit to an hour or so every week to 10 days with each of your partners to move eachother's equiptment.

Its much easier now with cross-server mail and dialogue. However it works out very well with me and my group by setting eachother up with speeders and cash. Some of us have novice scout (although you wont need that soon) to call vehicles. And we simply follow the shifts and mail eachother waypoints and a brief message when equipment needs to be moved. Its a win win.

The lots I'm using are statics. Mostly Houses for Storage and Factories. It's too time consuming running around trying to get someone to redeed lots every week.

again it depends upon the arrangement you make before you commit to trade

I have 2 accounts 4 lots are taken up by houses and 1 lot is taken up by the merchant tent. I have 6 lots for factories, and the rest are used for harvesters. Once I got my resources built up I would concentrate the last 9 lots onone or 2 awseome resources a week or what I was low in. A few weeks before publish 6 I started buying power, and after publish 6 started purchasing all non flora resources. Partially due to the fact that it doesnt matter about non flora resource quality anymore.

Those that are using over 30+ lots how many factories are you running, and how can you keep from going insaine?

Denoby Retired Master Chef (yeah I am retired, but taht was what I was running when cheffing full time)

I use 12 factories. All on standby atm with 20 crates each of medium and/or lite additives. No sense producing more atm. Got about 1400 crates of food/drink to move. Plus I havnt seen any decent oats on swgcraft for weeks and I need oats to make the next couple recipes.

Managing 66 harvs is major work. Plus the other 40 or so I manage for my partners (the other 30 are structures). I really dont do much of anything else lately between harvs and factories. It does get wearisome especially whena sudden shift takes placeafter 2 days and you have to spend another 4 hours surveying on yet another planet and ask your guys to come back yet again. 10 ber 14 fusion pretty much take care of the energy needs but not by much. Every harv has 10+ days of power15+ days ofmaintenance minimum in case of a dry spell. Here on gorath there was no fusion for 2 days on 6 planets.

Overall though flora harvesting is easier then mineral/radioactive harvesting. Most people go to talus for water so you can get good water at secondary planets (I use 16 high yield moisture vaporizors). With minerals you often see 50 or so static mines laid out on all the flat (arible) land on some planets. Forget Corellia for main use items. I dont even bother with it. Tatooine is another that has broad tracts of land (the flats) taken by statics, and naboo can be tough.

Yeah so its mostly surveying, moving equipment, and running factories and that's enough for now.

I just mastered chef today. I have my 10 lots, 5 of which are used on a cantina,2 more on a guild mate's structure factory, 1 on my food factory, and the remaining 2 are various harvesters.

Needless to say, I'm not going to be all that productive... further information as this story developes

My roomie and I both play, and we have been partners since the beginning. We have 4 accounts, of which 2 are supposed to be mine -- but his credit-producing char is an archie, so need I say more??

My char has a medium house, four factories, two heavy flora farms, one heavy water extractor, and one heavy mineral extractor (radioactive, for power). I believe that's just 10 lots. I shop like a *fiend* on the bazaar, listen to shouts, am always scouting for bargains, etc. The "game" part of this for me is the challenge of competing with my 10 lots against players that do things like trade lots across servers, "buy" lots from other players (heard some horror stories from that, let me tell ya..)and have multiple accounts like my damn roomie! To be fair, he and I are partners in game as well, and it is a big safety net. When I was poor and grinding, he supported me with his archie. But those days are long past now, and I am not only able to support myself, but also donate a vendor and it's profits to my tax-free city and donate credits and resources to nooby city members/PA members and to the city treasury.

Schmooz. It's part of the hospitality industry in RL, and it is a big part of it in game. I have vendors in the shops/cantinas of five other players, and I don't know four of them in RL, but our relationships range from warm business aquaintances to great friends in game. My most business-like arrangement is in Mos Nihil, Tatooine (Bria) where my business brings in tax revenue for their city, their city Tailor supplies most of my trim at 3cpu cost to me (you can't beat that), and they gave me a tent for just the cost of maintenance. In addition, my home city Mayor is a tailor, and if the Mos Nihil tailor is too busy to do trim, she will make me two schemas for a run and has me as admin on her factory since she isn't using it any longer. The city resource vendors sell me gemstone at 3cpu, since quality doesn't matter. Two PvPers have me as admin in their stores on Naboo and Corellia selling enhanced foods for PvP players. The New Solah cantina owner has me as admin and has my name on his cantina. In return for this, I make sure I throw a few credits into building maintenance, and I keep my vendors stocked. I pay factory maintenance and put power in the Mayor's factory when I use it. This is so simple, but you'd be surprised at the stories I've heard of people who can't grasp the need to do these things, and they lose their business partners.

I am honestly so busy trying to manage all the above, that I can't fathom having 80 lots and cross-server harvesters; it would make the game a nightmare for me, YMMV. As I said in a post on the BE boards, I charge fair prices for good quality foods. I'm making more credits than I ever have in years of gaming in other worlds where crafters were just laughable and melee classes were the wealthy ones. I don't need Krayt armor, or pearls, or Force crystals -- I gave up the holo grinding to be a Chef. I see no need to pile millions upon millions, and I frankly have more and am able to give more to others than I could ever have imagined -- on 10 lots, with a lot of schmoozing and 90% of my gaming being Merchant oriented. Just the way I like it!

I don't mine my own resources, I have a miner do it for me... so I use between 6 and 10 lots at any given time for factories (I work in heavy bulk)

The miner has probably 40 or 50 lots running harvesters, and another 5 lots are occupied by other people who are kind enough to let me have my vendors in their houses.
