Thread: Would this chef/BE arrangement be fair?
Considering BE enhanced Chef foods are looking like they will sell in the 200k per crate range (possibly more), I don't think that would be a fair arrangement. Esepecially not for just 2 crates of BE subs. BE enhanced Chef food will be the creme of the crop....might be a better deal for a crate of non-BE enhanced.
Time will tell, but I think most Chefs would prefer to provide the materials for a schematic.
Look at it this way, you are talking about trading 100 subs for a crate of 500ish brandies (if casks are used). Don't get me wrong, BE subs are hard to make....but that just doesn't add up.

Being both BE and Chef I can give an honest impression on both sides here. Only one factory run for the BE, this is true. However the BE additive take a lot of resources. Crystal is easy to get. Water a bit harder, but not too bad. The trim can be problematic. The flora resources, I mean 10 and 10, is nothing. The meat for the BE additive on the other hand........ There is also a big floral requirement.
I think a fair arrangement would be to do a full 1k run of the BE additives and give that to the chef. The chef then gives the BE 5 of the 40 crates. The BE is then set for 6 to 8 months on mind stims for DNA sampling. Keep in mind that the duration on this food is very long as is the stack size.

That is one of the problems the BE resources generally take as much if not more than the final food item. Plus the fact that it requires so much meat that is a semi scarce resouce. The other problem is The BE tissue almost doubles the quality of my item? Come on.

One other thing people overlook on what is needed to make BE tissues is:
Our resources require good OQ, PE, and FL. This makes it hard to get good creature resources at any given time.
So, not only does the meat market (on several servers) drive the cost way up for these chef foods but the rare creature resources that have high stats in all three categories, makes it very hard to do any serious factory runs.

Okay, I was thinking of trying to find a chef willing to go with the following arrangement:
I supply the chef with two crates (plus a few to experiment with) of BE components in return for one crate of something (brandy, most likely) made with one of those crates of components.
Think that sounds fair?

I think what will happen is that at first the BE's will make the schematics for people. But when they see the millions the chefs will reap off there classes skills that will change. Same thing has happened on Corbantis with Armor and slicers that resell.
Armor prices have steadily gone up to the point where the smugglers profit is geting smaller each week. Top quality suits are going in the range of 600k to 1mil now or between 100cpu and 250cpu if you like to keep track that way.
The reasoning is once a class feels that they are not getting enough of the profit from there class they will either quit or start charging more. If you are not treating a partnerfairly they will remember that alot longer than the 50k you tipped them. Think what you would say if somebody brought you 100k wheat and 100k water and asked you to make them a schematic for some food for 50k.
