You know, this reminds me of that magic trick. You know, the one where the milk in the glass disapears and all the lil kiddies go oooohhhh and aaaawwww. Some evil marketing genious may have come up with that one to encourage little kiddies to drink their milk!

Well, we need that guy over here on Shadowfire! I'm the largest food supplier on the server, and i can't get milk to save my life. People are over with it pulling on a calfs utters and following it aimlessly till it keels over. I know, I tried it out and it has to be the absolute worst and most boring thing in the game to do! Digging thru a lair for eggs brings more excitement!
I am not sure how to work with this. I have contacted all of the hunters i know and worked my guild. I have been and just again posted a thread that i will pay 25cpu for any milk. Even if it is crap! I am scraping the bottom of the barrell at home.
I am sure many chefs are feeling this pressure. I guess the devs need to include MILK as a part of an item to harvest once the beat the critter senseless. That's the ONLY way i know of that I KNOW FOR CERTAIN they will gather milk. I know, I have a hunter on another alt, and I know whacking is more fun that pulling. Not to mention, the exp is what their after and the animal resources pay big these days.

If this is a wide spread problem amongst all servers, then lets do something about it. Gathering milk is becoming extinct.

I know what you mean.. I'm working on collecting a batch of 30k plus right now for a BE friend to turn into medium Multisachs... huge pain the butt! I've got about 7k so far, but it's a real drag.

Depending your context here, whacking and pulling could be considered the same thing.

Things that would make me milk myself instead of buying it:
(bare with me...I haven't milked since the ability came out, so some of my info may be off)
1) Group milking. Last time I tried, I couldn't milk the same creature with different characters, even while grouped
2) Dead Milking. Treat milk as just another harvestable resource (like bone/hide/meat).
3) If dead milking can't be done, make it so that milking can be done at /follow range
4) Add a /milk command. If you allow for people to macro an entire profession, what's the problem here?
5) Autostack the milk. This goes for mollusk and crustacean meats as well.
6) Larger milk drops. I would love to see a 200-400 range per milk
7) If number 6 can't be done, make it so milking relies on creature harvesting mod
8)3-5 minute wait before you can remilk. (instead of having to travel 500m and back to get the creature to respawn)
Just a few of the things I would love to see. This is a game, so even more unrealistic suggestions should be warrented (ie remote milking droids/traps )

I just got a mental image of a milk trap and gave myself a case of the giggles.
Yeah, I think the range for milking is screwy. You can start out the milking process way farther than you can continue it. Plus, starting the milking process seems to be the trigger for critters to either burst run or warp either 20 meters into the air or 100 meters away. "You relax the creature" my butt!

25 cpu would be a deal, last time I bought milk on Ahazi it cost me 75 cpu.

YUK! 75cpu? was that for premium milk or just 'any' milk? Man that's a shade under avian meat prices

The smell of cooking has brought a hunry wookie down from the hill so your kitchens.
Just to say I'm a Ranger (again) on the Eclipse server, if you need milk or eggs or anything send me an in-game e-mail and I'll see if I can help out.
By the way, I quite enjoy milking animals.
A tip..If the animal you are milking spots some nice grass to chew 10 meters away, follow it...the milking process will not be interupted. Camo is better than mask scent.

That was premium milk. The milk was 944 PE and 900+ OQ. I bid on the same auction and got one of the lots for 70 cpu.

I'm a ranger on WH and I do a lot of milking, but i've pretty much stopped trying to milk anything except pickets, they give a fair amount per milk and spawn easily and I can easily get missions solo. If Correllian milk is very good then i'll spend some time getting to know humbabas.
Anyway, wouldn't a very easy fix be either:
1. make milking instant like all other harvesting, it's really the wait, follow, oh he ran too far away so start over, wait, wait, ok done that's the killer
2. adjust the chef recipies by lowering the milk requirements

2 I don't see happening. Most recipes only use 10-20 milk. To get it to a useful amount it would have to be taken down to 2-3 per food. I don't see the devs taking it that low.
There just is no reason for people to milk other than for profit. The profit rarely is worth the trouble. Meat prices are high enough that killing the creature is better than waiting to milk it. Killing usually takes less time also.
Scout skills need to matter on milk as well. There is no difference between a novice scount and a Master Ranger right now.
