I'm an artisan, but made a fishing pole & I need bait to start fishing! Anyone know how to put bait on the pole?

Just drag the bait over the rod and release. Or you can select the rod, hold for menu and choose Open. Then drag the bait to the open window and close.

You must either forage for it...a scout skill (Survival I), or fillet an existing fish that you have in your inventory to make bait.

to put bait on the pole, just open your fishing pole with the radial and drag the bait in -OR- do it the easy way and just drag your bait directly into your pole.
you can get bait by:
-foraging (scout skill)
-looting (off an NPC)
-fishing (you get chum bait if you filet your fish plus some fish meat resource)
hope this helps

After a lot of foraging I found Worm Bait, which worked fine for fishing. Now, after I start fishing, and I get a bite.. what do I do? There doesn't seem to be a Set Hook or Frantically-Reel-That-Puppy-In command. Just keep tuggin?
And do we get any experience for fishing? Or is it just a fun way to pass time and get fish meat now and again?

Can we harvest the fish after we get them? and if so, is catching fish faster than killing them? Harvesting to Explor IV is slow.

After getting a Bite, you want to Tug in a direction. If you get a Catch, use Small Reel-in and it will automatically bring in your fish. (I think any command will do this, actually.)
