And you can't harvest a fish, although you can filet it for bait, plus you get fish meat which you can sell to chefs and medics.

Artisans have the schematic for it. It is one of the first things they can make.

I have fished over 180 casts and no fish... lots of bites and nibbles no fish anyone know how to fish well?

I'd just like to know how to bait the fishing pole, any advice?

Well I have been fishing and first 20 cast I lost my bait or catch everytime.

Finally I gota catch and reeled it in. I am now catching stuff with regularity and find it way cool. Almost like the real thing.

Bait is everything so far from what I see. I have found 3 different baits so far. worms/insect/chum from fish fillets.

Anyway chum sucks, insect is **edit**ty but I have caught a few fish with it worms rule.

Ok so you get a bite, soon as you get a bite give a tug either of directions. After your tug if it says you caught the fish hit reel in.

After you start reeling it in I find I get much more success with moving toward the bobber when I get the message the fish charged me or ran away. Move toward the fish after you see these messages and you will be catching them with reagularity. Least this is what has been working for me.

So any profession can fish it's just an extra activity like in EQ?

That still doesnt tell people how to find bait or even how to bait the hook. i made a kick ass fishing pole and have a nice spot on talus, but i dont have any bait to use. can you use bofa treats or something?

Best I know the way to get bait is via the foraging skill that scouts have.

you have to forage bait (scout skill) or buy some on bazaar.

then just drop bait onto fishing pole and it is "loaded" with bait

Drag the bait and drop it on the fishing pole. I hope you didn't take my Talus secret fishing pond....

How annoying is that pop-up menu? Does it make a difference which you choose? "Short reel in" will eventually stop your fishing, but is there any system for choosing whether to tug up, left or right?

I am using insect bait, but I have worm bait I could try.

Just make sure that you are not fishing from the bridge. I fished and fished and fished and fished from there dueing beta. Got lots of bites and long (sometimes very very long) struggles but it would inevitably get away. I then switched to standing beside the river with no wall in the way and got a fih immediately. I suspect that you cannot fully reel in the fish since there is no travel path from the water to your rod and you can't hoist the fish into the air. Maybe you are only fishing with 10 lb. test :] I bugged it in beta so maybe they have done something since then. I have never been back to Talus to check.

I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not. But since I'm a novice Scout and I read this forum quite often I'll post it here. What is required to bait a fishing pole. I looted one off the corpse of an NPC I killed. When I try to use it , it says I must bait the pole first. Is there a certain item I need to use as bait?
