A few friends have told me that harvesting milk can't be done after the creature is dead anymore. I don't have any mask scent so I can't verify on any of my toons.
I'm assuming this means '/harvest milk' doesn't work anymore.

That is correct. Tested it myself last night. Now the only way to get milk is by the old fashioned way, and a little prayer to the Please-Don't-Make-This-Bantha-Float-16m-In-The-Air god won't hurt either.

harvesting milk post-mortem has indeed been nerfed. You can no longer /harvest milk. Unfortunately this means lower harvest for both chefs and rangers and likely higher prices too. I'm almost scared to see what the price of a big a$$ stack of milk will be now.

Makes me wish I hadn't given the last 10k stack of milk away, just 2 days before thepublish went out

Tried it last night. Was immediately bummed. Pikets sure are a pain when they start walking....and then walking...and then RUNNING for dear life (Yeah, like it really hurts when I'm milking them. I even make sure to not wear comp gloves to be super gentle.). It takes at least 2 tries to milk one. Why, oh why can't we just have normal cows to milk? At least those would stay still.

I'll check on this with the devs. I'll bet it was a side effect of the recent /harvest change to allow players to still get something if they use "/harvest bone" on something like insects (which don't have bone as a harvestable resource in the radial menu).
Just to gather some more info until I try it myself, is this happening even if you don't milk the creature while it's still alive?

I find the nerfing of /harvest milk very upsetting, as this was the only way I could harvest milk and make decent amounts of Pikatta Pie or Smuggler's Delight. I guess I will have togo backto making Air Cake. I believe I will be posting my protestto the Publish 11.5 update thread.

I'm actually just giving up completely on getting milk. If follow actually followed close enough for milking(of if the creature just didn't move lol) it would maybe be a little more acceptable. There is just nothing more boring in this game IMO than milking.

I really hope the change in milking was accidental. Itwas alreadyhard enough to find blocks of 20k milk to make a run of bantha butter prior to this change.

I was so irritated at this milk thing that I went out earlier and actually took a screenshot of a piket 10m in the air just to know I wasn't crazy. He got up there only after doing the "speed run" 30m away from me in a matter of milliseconds. Right. I couldn't have stayed close to that even if I'd been telepathic enough to know I needed to burst run.
If the devs insist on getting rid of /harvest milk then they should at least get working on stopping the animals from moving away from us, and in such obviously glitched ways. Otherwise, just do away with all the chef recipes and BE schematics that require milk, because nobody, but nobody is patient or massochistic enough to repeatedly chase down enough animals to make a decent run of anything.
I do have a feeling this wasn't a mere oversight on the part of the devs though. It was probably classified as an exploit to be able to harvest the milk twice, but we should at least be given the option of harvesting while alive or dead. Obviously, we can't harvest the meat/hide/bones of other animals when they're alive, but surely, if I were to kill something with milk in it, the milk would still be there after death. I'm sure this would require some re-working on their part, as harvesting droids might need to be fitted with a new option to harvest milk and yada yada...but I just want my /harvest milk back (possibly with a bonus for a dead animal since, um, I had to go to all the trouble of slaughtering the thing)!

OMFG! I had no idea that you could milk a dead cow!!!!
I have a wonderful screen shot looking up into the sky over my toon's shoulder on the first day that you could milk creatures. The system message 'you have.... milk' is in the middle of the screen, while a few star destroyers can be seen in the sky above. It's one of my favorite screenshots that I've taken.

We will all agree that milking alive and dead probally was not intentional. But I feel that you should have the option to do one or the other. Personally, I could never muster the patience needed to milk 20k live. If you are unaware currently you receive x amount for live milking and about 75% of that for dead milking. The decrease in milk for dead milking seems appropriate and intentional. Hopefully they will fix this soon.
