Thread: What Foods do you carry with you?

Now that my vendor is stocked and I have time to travel and see the galaxy...I have run into many many situations where I'm at a starport waiting for a shuttle and someone /tells me asking, "hey buddy, I need food! What do you have on ya?"

I thought having Brandy and Canape was good enough...now people want anywhere from Vercupti to Smuggler's Delight. I feel so bad when I don't have what they want on me - especially when I could make some buku bucks selling to those who need food RIGHT NOW.

So my question to you travelling chefs (that is, IF you travel)...what do YOU carry around in your backpack. Keep in mind, inventory storage is precious so there is only so much a chef can carry (especially you are carrying a whole set of armor, surveying tools, power, guns, etc.). What would be your recipe for a travelling chef?

Here's what I would try to carry:

Vasarian Brandy

Vagnerian Canape

Blue Milk

Bivoli Tempari

Vercupti of Agazza Bolurree

Smuggler's Delight

Veghash

Some incap food/drinks

Some dodge food/drinks

I carry enhanced Synthsteak, Brandy, Veghash, BoH, Citros Snow Cake, and Vercupti. In short, I only carry the foods I use myself. When someone asks me about foods, I happily give them a waypoint to my shop.

That tactic does not always work, I always carry crates of brandy and vercupti and canapes, sometimes ahisra on me, many folks are in a rush and want to buy foods then and there, if they wanted to go all the way to my shop they wouldn't ask me in the first place now would they? This allows me to get my name out and it gives my sales a personal touch, I can not emphasize at how my customers like that Ia ctually interact and rp with them rather than just point to some static carboard vendor.

It shows em you have a general interest in them, and they are more inclined to come toy our vendors later. Other chefs may not feel this way, but yes, I always carry food to sell on me, I mean what else are you doing when you have a 10 minute starport wait?

I'm still a chef dear actually that is to say, my main is the merchant and my alt is the chef, I actually finished merchant a long time ago, just too lazy to update my sig anywho. I usually carry canapes, brandy, and ahisra, mostly cause those are the big mind foods which most of the market wants. Sometimes I carry vercupti and citros snow cake is good for novice elite profs (boosts accuracy) sometimes I carry random stuff like burnout sauce and other odd foods you rarely see sold, juse to see who takes it.

I actually sold Ribnes before (trando regen food) We have a big menu, while not all of our foods seem to have a practical use, there are niche markets for people just looking to be different.

my chef alt is KMadness, i dance sometimes in theed but don't carry food/drinks to sell, my vendor is only 1.3k from there. i often get questions when i'm out doing harvester runs, wearing my Iron Chef title that i like so much. but people at starports don't ask me to sell them stuff right then and there, so i don't worry about carrying stock with me.

my main is KMad, and i do travel a lot with her. spent most of my playing time lastfriday and saturdayon dant in solo groups, working on combat. whenever anyone in the group would ask a question about food, i would of course chime in with an answer. several people asked me for my wp, and several did end up going to naboo to my shop and buying food.

the funny thing was, one guy in the group was almost completely out of brandy, and asked me if i had any on me to sell. well, i had plenty on me, but it wasn't the kind i usually sell (+423 43.5 minutes). i use for myself a very old batch i made for me, and never did sell, it's about +371 for 44 minutes. so, i sold him some of that, but told him not to quote those low stats to any potential customers lol.

Like the above post, I dont really have much inventory space to haul around crates or pieces of the food i make. I carry so much resources on me not because i choose to, but because both my houses are filled up as well. I also like to have stuff handy on me for when i do craft so I dont run around grabbing stuff.

Managing inventory isn't hard, just have to prioritize what you're carrying. For example, If I'm only making canape one day, i leave everything else at home in a bag except for dough, additives, fruits and berries.

I guess I'm old fashioned I suppose, a lot of crafters just don't want to be bothered with customers, they just want to get paid. I guess I started chefing mostly for the rp and the interaction <shrugs>

I don't carry anything specifically for sale on me. I might possibly sell a few samples out of the food I carry around to use, but more than likely if someone just wanted 1-3 pieces I'd probably just give them away, unless of course they were being a **edit** and asking for them for free in the first place.

Inventory space is starting to become a major problem for me. I just don't have enough room in my backpack to carry crates of most of the foods I stock.

I'm more than happy to give other chefs this business.

My chef never travels, I keep him locked in the kitchen of a non-descript house outside of Theed. Even if he did I don't think he'd have enough inventory space to carry much. His inventory is usually full of the most common resources I use for crafting. How may crates are you guys hauling around?
