Thread: To Factory ...or not to Factory?

That is the question

Anyone played with the food factories?

Is it true that you can not stack the output? No cases of beer?

Do you get full exp from the production?

Or are we doomed to a life of click click...sigh.

Wow, I can't afford NOT to buy harvesters. If you look around, you might find a very nice Architect who will sell you several harvesters for a very nice price. I'm buying them for 500 credits a peice when I buy in bulk.

This way I don't have to pay maintenance fees, just let them run themselves into the ground an buy another one.

Well that trick of not paying maintance fee's is gone. it took me two hours or maybe less to train myself to eng III to make my own harvestors to start with. and teaming up with another cook to run destory missions, to buy a food factory.

But I too would like to find out if Food products dont stack or not.. Would be depressing. Who wants to carry around 200 cantina treats. I want to be able to sell my items via a vendor but since there is a limit. Gah I would be better off standing at the bar /shout get your cantina treats here!!

I'm using a factory now. It can make up to 100 items at a time, but can take up to two hours to make the items. It produces 4 crates of 25 each, and seems to ignore whatever you do with quantity experimentation. You click on the crate and end up with a single food item (1 charge) in your inventory.

The only thing I really intend to use a factory for right now is making base alcohol. Take a look at the schematics for higher Mixology recipes and they say '2x identical alcohol', which means they HAVE to be mass made in a factory.

Yeah, this has to be a bug and I encourage all chefs to /bug it.

I can make a stack of 5 Crispics that are easy strength boosts (to lower the health cost of special moves), but when I make a schematic and run it through a factory I get a lot of individual, nonstacking Crispics.

This is worthless. Chefs have no method of mass production.

I didn't go Chef to be a roleplaying bartender, I went that way because I thought the food would be genuinely useful. 1 stack of 100 crispics would be useful. 100 stacks of 1 is useless and 25 hand-made stacks of 4 each is far too tedious for most people to want to bother with.

And then there's the duration, gah. The duration on even experimented food still sucks. You'll still be full when the effects are long gone.

Xfortunex:
So you make a run of 100 you get 4 containers that say they have 25 food in them, but you click on them and they are consumed ....so just 1 charge? Or is it that you should have 100 charges of 4 and you only have 100 charges of 1?

Novaprime: Have you made alcohol in a factory?....does it stack?....or does it come out jus tlike whaen you prototype it?

Pecos: So when you make a run of Crispics they do not come out in cases? are they in stacks of 4 like normal?

Everyone else: The harvesting changes are not that bad.....slows things down a bit, but it is still do able. not a problem....we will just have to spend a little time making money the normal way....missions.

Anyone on Scylla that wants to collaborate. Send me a tell. Maybe there is strength in numbers.

I agree with Pecos 101%. Not only do we gotta teach people the power of food, we gotta teach them to buy it (No, it's not free...), then teach them that "Sorry, factories suck; only come in stacks of one, but that's how it's gonna be!", and then say "Sorry, I'm still a novice chef. Can't make anything good yet, but I only have 30k to next skill up!"(where I only get 70exp per make of a 45 resource item!). YAY aren't we lucky?

I've just done a run in my new factory, and I can confirm, you feed in a schematic for 6quantity bofa treats (for example) taking 13 cereal.
Manually crafting 100 lots of this would give you 100 stacks of 6 meatlumps = 600, for 1100 cereal.
Using the factory, you get 100 SINGLE bofa treats for the same resource cost, so everything we make costs 3-6 times more.

Also, you cannot stack the factory items.

I've made a post in the swg main forum, and the more of you that reply to it, the more we are likely to get some form of response.

I get 4 crates showing quantity of 25 on each crate. You click crate once, and you get one food item (wastril bread) appear in inventory. If you click the crate twice, u get two wastril breads, etc. Neither the 4 crates nor the individual wastrils breads stack. The wastril breads are single use..
