Thread: Crates of BoH

It took me a long time to finally finish a run of BoH, but it was well worth it. I had 11 charges per drink, so thats 275 servings per crate. At 500cr per serving I make 137,500 credits per crate. I love this stuff, even though it uses so much aludium, it is worth it

Make sure to use the right experimentation and resources on the Aludiums and you will get higher charges. I am getting charges of 22 right now.

I use the right resources. I don't experiment on charges in Aludium. And my resources are good, not great.

What do you suggest I experiment on in my Aludiums?

If you are looking for charges, experiment the aludiums on quantity all the way. This allows me large stacks without spending the points on the quantity of BoH, and putting those points into quality. At a critical failure on quantity my BoH comes out at 17.

Wouldn't you rather have a bigger buff considering it fills you up the same?

I would. Why would someone want a stack of 11 500 over 5 at 750?

I'm just making my first aludium run now, and my first BOH will come this week. I haven't experimented on servings at all, and didn't intend to.

Anyone else think this way?

I try to get the middle of the road in all 3...mine are usually about 550 for 550s in stacks ranging from 15-19.

most all of my customers frequently look for stack size and quality, but rarely duration.

But like i said, when my aludiums boost the quanitity for me all my points can go to quality, which works out well.

I'm not really talking about duration.

Won't your buff stats be higher if you use all your experimentation on the Alud36 to increase effect? We'll soon find out because that's what I'm doing.

My rifleman character would rather have the absolute highest buff per serving than more servings of lower buffs. As I understand it a serving is a serving, and since you are limited in the number of servings you can consume it seems to make more sense that each serving be worth the absolute most buff.

Am I missing something?

I think it really depends on the person buying. For some people it is difficult to see past servings. For example they may say.."well I can pay the same price and get 12 buffs or get 4 buffs. My money is better spent getting where I can get more buffs because the buff is still good and I get a lot more of them" So i guess it really amounts to how much they rely on buffs, what they are doing while buffed, and how much they wish to spend on buffs. And then there are the people that think food is totally worthless anyway *cringes* I know my server had a chef that offered an "xp" line where he spent most of his points in the buff in addition to his normal line. Unfortunately, hes since quit the game so I dont really know how well it worked. Ive been tossing the idea around of doing something similar but Im not sure how much more work it would be add it. You also have a small handfull of people that really want duration. I know Ive done special orders for people experimenting in the time area on the foods/drinks where it can actually make a difference.

I kinda feel like a fast food restaurant or something hehe. I focus on trying to get the best buff and a reasonable duration while still maintaining a reasonable amount of servings. I guess that means either I please a wide variety of people or no one..but my pocketbook says Im pleasing folks. I have stores on 3 different planets so that people can have hopefully easy access to food/drink. I have a total of 5-6 stores which means Im always making/stocking. So what I hope to gain by experimenting in the way that I do, is something that is favorable to the most amount of people that iseasily accessible to a lot of people. I find that my buffs are comparable or better than most chefs on my server but still have enough uses to appeal to the "other" crowd as well. In other words, Ive fallen into that trying to please everyone thing

Quoting Nikki

example they may say.."well I can pay the same price and get 12 buffs or get 4 buffs. My money is better spent getting where I can get more buffs because the buff is still good and I get a lot more of them"

But they won't pay the same price. At least not from me. I charge based on the uses, so they actually pay less per effective point per buff when compared to these high serving crates.

As a rifleman, why would I want 12 servings of 250 when I could get 5 servings of 390? I wouldn't. I want the absolute highest stats I can get to focus/mind/willpower. You can always buy more servings, but you can't eat any more servings to increase the power of the buff. Once you're full you're full.

I still must be missing something. I'm new at all this, so help me understand.

If 1 serving fills you up hypothetically then:

1 serving at 250 mind for 300s vs. 1 serving at 390 mind for 300s seems like a no brainer to me. I'll take 390 all day.

Why would I care if I had to buy 2 crates or 1 crate if the prices are based per serving regardless of power? The cost would be the same, but the benefit of the more potent food would override the other.

My customers ask for quality over quantity, so I get my buffs in the 500s with the duration experimented on some, and 11 charges. My next run of Aludium I will put all my points into Charges to see how it comes out. But like I said, my resources are good, not amazing. If I average the PE, OQ, and Flavor each resource would come out to around 600-700 average.

I have min amount of buff that I find acceptable. For me, I prefer not to make my boh less than 550 buff.I just wont do it. If it comes out 8 servings to make that happen, then thats what will happen. But you have to remember there are a lot of reasons for using food/drink and not all of them are combat. Try telling a surveyor that he should buy twice as often so he can get more from his buff, when a400 buff means his bar doesnt move. Its just not smart money wise for him. For him, the best buff for cred use is buying a stack with a lesser buff but that will go a lot further because he simply wont use the excess buff. Say if you make 550 buff in a stack 10 and sell it for say 4k. The chef down the road from you makes a 450 buff in a stack of 19 and also sells it for 4k. Since the surveyor only needs a 400 buff to make his bars not even move while surveying, he can choose to buff himself 10 times or 19 times for the same price. He gets twice the bang for the buck by going with the 19 because he simply doesnt need the extra 100 buff.

I am by no means saying all customers are like this. But there are a LOT of different outlooks and different needs of customers. Some need more, some need less, some want more buff, some want more servings. Its individual. In addition to that, you have a VERY large number of people that dont even understand their stats. I cant tell you how many people have come into my shops wanting to buff just their ham because they dont have foggy clue what the other stats do. They know..HAM = I get hit = I die = I need more HAM.

I price by charge, but I have put a max on boh because I didnt feel right charging over a certain amount for it. The reason I choose to price by charge is simply because my resources will vary with quality. I will try to always keep my buff at a certain level. The sacrifice I make to sometimes do this is it comes out less charges. I dont feel right charging a person the same for a 4 use glazed pate as for a 6 use pate that has the same stats. I really dont feel right chargingtwo people the exact same thing when one person got 50 more servings (each getting a crate) I never make it a main goal to experiment charges. My first thing is to get the buff up to the level I have set that I wanted. Then I will send in points needed to duration if its needed and servings comes last. But, I have a min amount of servings that I think is acceptable as well unless my resources just totally suck. For example, Im simply not going to make a 7 use BOH run. Ill either not make it until I get better resources or Ill try to rework the aludium experimentation to get it a more appropriate level.

Another note, just as oq seems to be the one item that makes the most difference in ingredients, when you experiment the alu for boh, putting the points into the qty bar seems to make the biggest difference. Personally I use a mix of all 3 and sometimes I leave out the flavor exp on the alu. But with this drink anyway it seems blocks in usages gives more results than blocks in buff. At least that was what I found when i played around with it. The end result of that was I ended up having to feed a lot more blocks to buff and only a few to qty to make both the buff and qty equal to what I feel is acceptable.

But chefs almost universally price per use. Therefore,a stack of 10 that costs 4k would mean a stack of 19 costs 7600.
