I am trying, I am trying. The problem is right now is that the developers are not going comment too much on how chefs are right now because it will all be changing soon, and they don't want to comment on how things are changing until they have something more solid together....which I really, really hope is soon.

Oh, and as for Thunderheart....got the feeling is that whenever he gives you a dead line, multiply it by 50. : sigh : But we are not alone, he made the same promise to all professions. I have no idea where it is, but I will continue to pester him about it.

Thunderheart posted a nice long list of answers to a bunch of questions from the Droid Engineers over on their boards. While it did not reveal anything substantive, I think it probably gave them a nice shot in the arm. We could use one too. Just the appearance of a post by a Dev on the Chef Boards is something we have not seen in a long time (if ever???). Such a post would go a long, long way toward improving morale. Plus, it seems to me that TH promised something like this about a month ago, but we never saw it.

Any chance you could twist his arm and get him to stop by for a visit? Thanks.

Yup there is.

On the main page in the "In Develpment page" it sais that these changes will take place mid December.

I look forward to seeing them in Febuary sometime

That being said wouldn't it be great to work at a place where you are given assignments, constantly turnthem in 4 or6weeks late and still keep your job. SOE sounds likea sweet place to work

Well, honestly, it is the computer development industry. Especially when you are developing new stuff...you never know when there is going to be delays.

Although TH and his reports that he promised everybody coming close to a month ago....I am not sure what is up with that.

I work for a fortune 500 company testing firmware and the milestone dates slip constantly. There are times when we have to push back entire projects because of one product slipping it's date.

I don't code, but I've been testing software, firmware, and hardware for over six years and that really helps me understand the problems that SOE has in dealing with customers. Nobody wants to put out a buggy product but any moderately complex piece of software is going to have defects. The thing to understand is that they really are working on fixing them and trying to get the game as fun as possible while maintaining a large enough playerbase to be profitable.

I guess being in the industry that I've been in for so long has taught me to be patient with developers since I deal with them on a daily basis.

But when a projected date slips, you usually get a new projected date. Even if it too is a bit optimistic, it gives you SOME idea of when the project will be completed. I have never seen a situation when something was promised for November 15, and by December 9 you have neithera finished product nor even a new projected completion date.

If you are talking about Thunderheart's stuff...well, yeah, you are right. He promised something and didn't deliver...although what he promised I don't think is what other people were expecting. He is doing a top five correspondent issues and answers (which is way, way overdue...), which will not be as great as you are hoping for reasons I will explain in a bit.

The actual developer who is working on chefs is being very careful to give out no dates, not even to me, because he knows there is a fairly good chance he won't make it. Which is why I don't have any information for you. The chef developer does not want to make any promises he can't keep, so he won't tell us anything until he knows everything is pretty solid. I can respect that.

Which is why my opinion of this 'Dev' has gone from high to negative. You don't say something, and then not do it. Period. It's much easier to give a loose answer or statement instead of being 'optimistic' on your timeline forgiving information.

A much better statement would have said "I'll get it to you as soon as I can" not, "I'll post it this saturday."

That way, his timeline is covered, so that we all know it's coming but don't have a date of which we can decide that this person is....well, unreliable.

Don't giveanswers/statements with timelines unless your'e DEFINITELY SURE, you're going to do it.

I bet we all get surprised with the changes...and not even a chance to rebutt the proposal if there's anything problematicwith it. After all, this is what I've been trained to expect from SOE.

Since release, I've had major major problems with Cheffing. First, the no medium or heavy flora harvs, and single use stacks from crates, then food just plain not being edible without using a stupid workaround, then food poisoned folks stats...

Now...we seem to be working fine, but all the old issues with balanceare still there, and TH's comments don't make me optimistic on the changes.

Thankfully, SirVimes is here to help me keep my optimism, since he's obviously seen some of the ideas.

While my appreciation for SOE is at an all time low, I appreciate SirVimes as a reliable source of info and mirth, as always.

Thanks SirVimes, but SHAME on SOE for teasing one of the most neglected classes, and not coming through.

you should know not to take any dates they give out too seriously

it should satisfy you that at least they acknowledge there Is a problem, and they're working on it, thats enough for me.

i don't see how you guys can justify being angry at the people responsible for us Playing this game at the first place. I love this game, they made it. They're working on making it better. Patience is a virtue.

its very easy to be jealous of attention some other professions are getting. Its like trying to teacha kindergarten class where every single student is practically throwing themselves at your for attention. I'd hope that we're more mature than that.

wait, what did i just say?

nevermind..
