This is just to write about some stuff that came out of the summit not related to the revamp itself (i.e. stuff I can talk about).
I have to say, being able to do a face-to-face with the devs and other correspondants (both on a professional and a social level) was great. The fact that SOE felt that this type of player input is important (we stopped trying to estimate how much was spent on the whole thing) really makes me feel good about the future of the game. Communication on the forums, through email, etc is good, but this summit let us put faces and personalities to the people on both sides.
And personally I was thrilled to meet these sorta-coworkers face to face. And it got a little scary: I thought they were weird just from their posting, it's an order of magnitude worse in RL (and yes, I suppose that also applies to me).
Jest3r (GCW corr), dvnce (architect corr) and StGage (swordsman corr) are pretty vocal in their debates on the forum, but things got smoothed out a little with a RL meeting. Plus, I think blackmail info was collected on just about everyone, so that should help keep us in check.
As a final thing: I tried my hardest to convince NancyJ (the BE corr) that not all chefs hate BEs. Try not to make me a liar, 'kay?
Overall, I thought the summit was both a blast in general, and very useful to both the devs and correspondants with getting everyone on the same page regarding the revamp. I have a very good feeling about the quality of this revamp, it might even entice me into getting more into combat myself (although you'd have topry my chef skill boxes from my cold, dead fingers).

Well, I've seen Skorr PvP, and I know he's a very active chef. So it's very possible! And I'm a complete PvP gimp, but I'm killer in PvE, and I'm not a pure combatant. So...just do whatever tickles your fancy, honey!
In reference to your other Summit post, I'm glad the list of must-haves will change. One of the things that turned me off from being a chef before the food revamp was that all I made was pet food and Tatooine Sunburns. I realize that that's changed a lot, but there are still only a few things that everyone feels they can't do without. I think it would be great if that spread out a little and diversified based on what profession a player follows.
And thank you for even remembering that performers buff (though there's more to our online lives than that). Sometimes I feel so marinalized.

You should see how Chefs are treated by NancyJ and her BE thugs lol. Going to that forumn in a total nightmare. If she feels chefs hate BE's, its because of the way she treats chefs, and the treatment of them that she encourages on her boards.

I wonder if this is because it tends to be the most dissatisfied people who would go vocalize their "issues" on another profession board...

I think you hit the nail on the head there.
The people that have had bad experiences, want to make trouble etc go to the "competign" professions boards and post threads that tend to be hostile, thus causing tension between the professions.
A prime example of this is the BH forum and the jedi forum - the vast majority of Jedi get along with BH's & vice versa - I know I had a good relationship with the majority of BHs on Chimaera before I cancelled the account, and the same goes with BE's.
The problem is, the few dissatisfied chefs that complain on the BE boards give all chefs a bad reputation - I've lost count of the BE's I've spoken to that thought all chefs were greedy so & so's, making massive profits whilst moaning about BE prices - until I take time to explain to them how chef works, my pricing structure etc, and then compare it to theirs. Every single one has changed their view to date
The same hapens on here, p'd off BE's complain, some chef's think all BE's are moaning little ****'s.
Then they go and post on each others boards, stirring it up more
The vast majority of BE's know that the vast majority of chef's are not ripoff merchants out to screw BE's. The vast majority of chefs know BE's arent moaning ripoff mervhants out to screw chefs.
Ofcourse, there are some of both camps that ARE moaning ripoff merchants that are out to screw as many people as possible, but they don't tend to stay in the profession for long
I've been a BE and a Chef, so I know both sides well, and I know that 99% of chef's aren't making "ubercash", and I know what a total pain it is as a BE to get decent meat. That's why, as a chef, I am known to buy additives like 83BSN, 113INN - I don't EXPECT a BE to get the uber resources needed to make the top additives, and I don't expect them to charge ridiculously low prices

tis true, same as the impression that all Jedi are whiny **edit** and exploiters, its not true but no-one hears about the 'nice' jedi, the ones that do play as 'real jedi', hiding out on their own not running around Theed waving their sabers around.
If a chef comes to a BE and offers to buy a run of additives at the standard price on your server, no BE is gonna complain about it, no chef is gonna come to the BE forum and say please charge us more, we're making too much profit from our brandy.
All we hear about are chefs asking for cheap schematics and complaining about prices
Or inversely - and I'm sure you get a lot of it here too, BE's complaining about not getting a fair deal on profit splits.
Unfortunately, such is the nature of online forums, people who have nothing to complain about are usually very quiet.

You know I was thinking about BE Additives today, and wondering why meat had to be the number one ingredient. If you were going to add something to a food, to enhance it, wouldn't it more likely be a chemical. Like preservatives for example.
