Thread: Proposal on reducing BE's contribution to food effectiveness

Try doing 2 full brandy runs at one time and see how many crates you end up with before you make actual brandy schematic.
I was thinking about this. I tried making my first factory run (ironically) of non BE enhanced Brandy. It was daunting to say the least. Maybe this isn't the most appropriate place for this suggestion but would it be a fair thing to ask that crate sizes have an added option of multiples you want produced?
Yucky.. that made no sense. Take trim. For casks you need 2 per. Wouldn't it be nice if I could order a crate of 24 or 26 instead of 25 and having one left over when the cask schematic runs through? One of the problems I was finding was having lots and lots of crates of 1 or 2 items left in them. For some, like casks, I can just use them to make single recipes. But what do you with a single piece of trim or a single bottle of alcohol?
It's a relatively small issue in the greater scheme of things but it does help with addressing the space problem. Deleting stuff because you can't use it is just a waste of resources.
-Nah-
in the future i so hope they make even more crafting professions cross each others paths. We need more items it takes several different professions working together to make the very best product.
player driven economy is supposed to feel realistic. i think its great.
one company didnt make the space shuttle.

Ive kinda jumped on this thread a bit late and skipped through the majority (sorry if i repeat anything or contradict anyone)
My feeling about the new chef revamp, is that it has made it a lot more fun than what it was before. Sure for the first week or so, the constant /tells, emails and pestering about Brandy was annoying, not only due to the crazy demand, but for the claims of "golddigging" when I put a crate up from 200 to 300k each in an attempt to slow down sales. Now the market has been flooded, I have now got my prices back down again and I am really enjoying making all the other foods that I have big demand for. Ok, the amount of resources we need is ridiculous. I have to rely on friends to lay down 2 houses for me to store all my resources. I have 7 factories running non-stop - even the output hoppers are half full of crates I cannot move to anywhere but the next available factory that needs them as an ingredient.
The proposed addition to yet another quality resource really isn't needed. I agree that its possible for chefs to make a good quality product using BE additives made out of rubbish, and this is what I dont like. I'll use the infamous Vasarian Brandy as an example.
BE additive nutrient - 86%: - using 1 meat with the 3 main stats at 900 or over, and 2 flora over 850....the cost of the resources on this is VERY high and will result in a nice VB of about +420 for 40mins if used with other top quality ingredients.
BR additive nutrient - 82% - using 1 meat with the 3 main stats around 500, and 2 flora around 600...the cost of the resources on this is VERY low and will result in a fairly decent brandy of about +380 for 38mins if used with slightly above average ingredients.
Now, for my liking, the difference between searching, harvesting, and/or paying for top quality meats, flora and other resources to make the top quality product should result in a far wider difference than +40 buff for a couple of minutes. Not only is the small difference an insult to the Chef's crafting abilities (skill enhancements etc too), but its an insult to the Bio-engineer who guide and educate us in the process of making the top nutrients etc.
So, my view is either make a bigger difference in the result of the BE nutrient when using poorer resources (obviously not gonna happen as it effects BE's too much), or, and better, is to make the difference in the final product far bigger if the chef uses the 86/87% medium additive, as opposed to the 81/82%. I know to most people, a 4% difference might not sound like much, but when you are a master chef who scours the galaxies for the top resources, pays his rangers the same, and works hard and pays hard with his BE's, then that 4% is HUGE - huge in the costs - but NOT huge in the effects of the final product.
I don't know how the new crafting system on TC is going to effect us, as I dont play TC, nor do i see much about it, but unless something is done with regards to the standard of product vs quality of resources used, then a novice chef with mixology 3 and Experiment 4, could easily make a +350 brandy using half decent resources, and never have to worry about being a master. A few skill points, and a nice little earner to boot. It's a mockery of the Master. Im sure if a Master Armoursmith using top jolly stuff to make his perfect armour found out a guy with xx34 on armoursmith could make an item that is 85% as good as his with average resources, he would be pretty disillusioned with his profession.
as a masterAS if someone below me makes 85% of the stats that i am making, i would be damned proud of him. it takes a while to gather the just right resources to create the best of anything on any given server. It takes longevity, experience, knowledge.
with the current hologrind that is still lingering, and the thought of the money of the month professions, the true chefs will always keep top honor. they have the best contacts(you better meet some BE's now!), have been aroundlong enough to have the best resources, and know just what to do in a crunch to put product out to the market. They have been there, thick and then.
right now chefs might be makin more money than any profession, even stims. Its not because the great chefs are putting quality products on the market, but because i believe they have been affected by "flavor of month". It will happen to every crafting profession, every combat profession. been there done that.
all in all, i know the true chefs will stick around, and when the madness of brandy is gone, they will still own the market, as they should.
bye guys
Jamaika the tooth
oh yeah, BE's know whats going on, when the rest leave, they wont have a problem taking care of chefs. Fairly,.
BE additives have more effect on a Chef's food than Chef skill
Surely the premise is flawed
Brandy with Chef, BE and Hunter = +400 for 40 mins
Brandy without BE = +200 for 40 mins
Brandy without Hunter = +200 for 40 mins
Brandy without Chef = nothing
I very much like the Revamp and I think it would be better to make economic adjustments based on the system we have now (higher prices, higher pay for hunters and BEs) rather than seek work-arounds
