Has anyone noticed any of these "different color fish" that were promised in the patch notes? If so, where did you find them?

I was trying to get some multi-colors for the setup in my house.

I found a few different fish on dathomir. Couple of em were quite colorful.

I have just enterd the wonderfull world of fishing.....

I finaly found a fish pole and some churm bait on bazaar and followed the easy directions in here...

I usualy tug up on Nibble... and "Bite" is always a nice tug... I usualy try the same sequence.,..

Tug up on nibble and bite... if that dont work I try up on nibble and right on bite....

I am gettin the hang of this.. now to see how I make fish into bait

Bait is everything so far from what I see. I have found 3 different baits so far. worms/insect/chum from fish fillets.

Anyway chum sucks, insect is **edit**ty but I have caught a few fish with it worms rule.

I disagree with this. I have caught plenty with all 3 types of bait and since i started fishing I have only lost my fish about 3 times and bait about 10 times.

My method for fishing is tug right get a nibble, tug right again you should get a bite , then tug up to set your hook and then reel in when it says caught something.

Anyone knows how many different types of fish there are? I have about 5 different types on display on my wall. Are there any huge fishes?

Volsted's Guide is amazing. Helped me a lot whenI started out. But it was written before shellfish harvesting was introduced. A few random thoughts:

1) Write a looping macro that hits your F1 button for example and waits so many seconds before doing it again. Be sure to leave enough time to finish the harvesting attempt. Put your shellfish harvesting tool in the F1 (or wherever you want) position. Be sure to be buffed so you can continuously harvest. Start your macro. As you fish manually, you will be constantly harvesting shellfish too. Drag the harvested mollusks and crustaceans in to one pile from time to time so they will not use up all your inventory space. By default, they do not stack in your primary inventory. This tripples the return for time spent fishing. AND, if you don't want to fish, you can still getin about 15 to 20 minutes of afk shellfish harvesting in before needing to stack them and continuing. A nice way to gather resources while working on other things you might need to get done.

2) Find a location with super shallow water, or a LONG inlet that you can run in and NEVER swim. I have found whole ponds that are 1 inch deep. The water depth does nto appear to have any affect on the fish you catch. Fish back and forth in these locations, always running up to the red bobber once you have caught a fish. This GREATLY increases the amount of fish you can capture in an hour.

3) Find a place with ***** fish and * or less vegitation - you will catch more fish, and lose less bait this way.

4) Get a GOOD fishing pole. I HAVE seen a difference in the amount of fish caught with a lesser quality pole.

5) Going from memory, there are 7 types of fish, and the striped fish I believe is colored differently on every planet, so you COULD have more than 7 different looking fish in a display.

Enjoy fishing folks!

Great Guide.

As for bait, try the bazaar. Forage is nice if you have it. I haven't found a particularly great place to forage to find bait :/ Random im assuming?

Yes, forage is completely random as well. For what it's worth, I have set my toon on a looping macro to forage while buffed and been able to pull in 300 or so items in no time while mostly afk. The mini buffs that the foods give are kind of fun too in a pinch. I delete most of the stuff, but it is an easy way to get bait for fishing, or to make available on the bazzar for example.

If you look carefully, you'll find that *every* type of fish is different on *every* planet. The variations can be quite subtle (blowfish) to extremely obvious (striped fish). With nine planets in game, andseven kinds of fish, that's sixty-threevariations.

Yes, you can fish on Tatooine and Lok.

yeah it doesnt matter the bait so much... its just a matter of keeping with the same routine and never breaking it just by random chance you will catch fitch more often than not... i havent fished ina looong time.. but i only used non chum bait when i ran out of chum bait

pole quality makes a huge difference. A master artisan with some decent resources can make you a pole over 90 quality and you will soon start to enjoy fishing that much more. As far as foraging I rarely get bait when just foraging at random. However, and this just may be acoincidence, if I have my pole equipped and am near water I will find bait 80% of the time I forage. Once I have chum bait I rarely use anything else. One thing to note about fish when keeping them for trophies is their size (can see this by examining them). Kind of silly, I know, but even if you are just sticking them on the wall of your house it is nice to have the big ones there (though they are all the same size graphically). Then you dont have to lie to your friends about the ones that got away . A friend of mine has fished all over every planet and collected trophies from each. We would often compete for the largest fish caught. Fishing Tatooine is fun as their areonly four fishing holes that I know of, so it makes for quite the fishing trip. The shellfish harvester macro is a good way to go too as this will keep you busy if you start to get bored fishing.
