There is a mind buff that in my opinion is even better in the re-vamp. Its a brandy and the stats with not so good resources are:

What this means, is that with good resources and experimenting in the right places, you can probably get (making this up)

160-`170 ALL mind stats for 50 minutes

8 or 9 quantity

Filling of 33 (this would be a god send)

You would be able to take three of them if the above can happen and you would have a buff over 500 on all mind stats. I prefer this over fishak any day.

Why in the world would you prefer that. Before the Chef Nerf you can have 2 glucose for 640 to mind and focus and stager your fishtake for 1400 mind buff continuously WITH NO DOWN TIME. under this new system sure i can have the effectiveness of one MUCH cheaper muon ( i get a freind to make the scemtaic and run 1000 unit runs with my left over materials from other stuff) and have a 40min down time after it.

I would much perfer a 3 min downer from muon that i hardly ever used before cause Nikkiis stuff was so much better.

This is nothing but a Chef nerf the devs see somthing that reduces down time and increases fun factor and they have a irresistable inner desiger to "fix" or "revamp" it just look at all the previous "fixes" for an indication of what is happening to my foods

I had been considering trying out Chef as i have preiously been a weaponsmih and a architect bt it looks like the devs lready think there is too many of you and are trying to reduceyournumbers Cause the truth of it is that if something buffs less than a stim can heal (or muon) and has sgniant down time it is only a situaitonal tool greatly reducing the amounts used. Ill still find somethin i like and keep a crate aroundou of habitbut nothing like itis nowwith a crate or two of a minimum of 7 staple food with a few odds and ends in there for trying out.

Spices normally last around 10 minutes. Our new foods seem to last 15-30 minutes, 50%-200% longer. Additionally, spices have downers. I'm a Master Commando in addition to being a Chef, and let me tell you, that downer is of GREAT concern to fighters. Having your max health drop to 200 during a fight blows.

As for Doctor buffs, they have the HUGE penalty of requiring a Doctor to apply. Let me give you a typical scenario for a fighter:

You get Doctor buffs in Coronet then head to Dathomir to kill Baz Nitches. While there, some Nightsisters spot you and kill you. You respawn at the Dathomir Outpost, minus buffs. You look around, there are no Doctors. If you want your buffs back, you must now buy a ticket back to Coronet, wait for the shuttle, find a Doctor, wait in line for him to buff you, sit there for a few minutes while he buffs you, buy a ticket back to Dathomir, wait for the shuttle, finally arrive back on Dathomir. All in all, it will probably be 20 minutes before you are back on Dathomir ready to fight again.

Adding a requirement of components from another elite profession to MY MASTER SCHEMATICS is unacceptable, even if it is an optional component to the final recipe.

Show my where any other Elite profession has this burden on a master schematic.

First off, the Cask requires components from Tailor, but the Barrel (which is better) only requires components from Master Artisans, so we don't need anything from elite professions.

As for other professions having such burdens on master schematics:

Armorsmiths: Composite armor requires Tailor made Reinforced Fiber Panels and Synthetic Cloth (that's REQUIRES, not optional)

Architects: Master couch, chair, and loveseat all require Synthetic Cloth (again REQUIRES)

Droid Engineers: Their master level droids require subcomponents that require Master Artisan stuff (ok, they don't rely on an -elite- profession, but as stated above, for our best container the barrel, neither do we)

Weaponsmiths: Tangle pistols require the same components Barrels do.

Chefs have actually been one of the few crafting professions that have been entirely self-sufficient so far. I'm a big fan of cross-profession reliance, so I actually welcome these new "burdens". It gives me the opportunity to socialize with other crafters, rather than hiding in my kitchen all day.

Little more to droids than that.

'Advanced' droid parts (brains and movtive systems) require MA parts

Level 5 and 6 utility modules (medical, Data stores, Item Stores)of all types require MA parts.

Power Droids (Gonks) require an Architect component (power core a low level architect part)

Level 6 armor modules require a 'composite armor segment' which is a teir3 or 4 armorsmith part.

Also this is about who you know not what you know. I have 2 very good friends in game, 1 is a tailor, 1 is a BE. So go make some friends, friends that will make you shcematics and let you use their factories (at least for the Tailor stuff).

The evolution of my market and cutomer requests over timehas been:

1st) servings (more is better)

2nd ) effectiveness (I don't care how many I just want the best)

and finally

3rd) can you make these so that they don't fill me up as much? so I can eat more sooner?

from the rumors I read I was happy to tell these folks (my best and long term customers) "with the new revamp I will soon be able to experiment on fullness you can eat more, and eat more again sooner "

I'm not on TC so I'm getting it third hand, but this looks really bad for them and thus for me

DOMYNION BARES ALL:

1) I am a master chef

2) I became master chef to provide buffs to my guild, and make a little cash

3) I am also partly merchant (at one time master), and Master Politician -- I know what pain is

4) I played EQ and watched SOE slowly destroy my characters in that game too

I grinded chef to master back in november, I didnt register a "forum account" till december (for those of you who might call me a liar). I LIKE making the best stuff I can, and I dont do much roleplaying and providing food for parties, it aint my thing, but I'm not gunna be mean to people who do. Removing lesser alcohols AND the experimentation from the subs was good because really, for MOST (not all) foods/drinks, the subcomp experimentation was pretty well worthless. Rude - yeah, that's kinda the way I am, sorry. Whiney? Call me whiney if you want, I'm sticking for my profession. If I have to whine so be it. Demanding? Well =), yup... I figure its the only way people will listen.

Anyway, telling me you don't want me here only fuels my ambition to become a bigger pain in your neck... Quite honestly, your best bet is to leave me alone. Threatening me with BANS (ooooooooh noooooooooo) doesn't pahse me because I'm not stupid enough to do anything on the forums to get banned.

As far as me name calling, well, you ever call your one of your friends an idiot for locking his/her keys out of their car? You ever say "Steinbrenner's and idiot, look what he's doing to the yankees!!!"

I'm not trying to slam people in here.. If I were, my posts would be a lot longer, but I call people names playfully, so sorry if you can't take a little sour with the sweet. Maybe next time I go to call someone an idiot, I'll package it up into a phrase like this:

"I'm sorry sir, but I believe you are mistaken in your presumption that this new food is better than the pre-patch counterpart"

Quite honestly I prefer people to come right out and tell me I made a bonehead remark rather than trying to debate it ...

So yeah... I am who I am.. I'm not changing... You don't like it? I dont care.. But I'll try to be a little nicer in the future to keep people from trying to lynch me or whatever..

Every chef will be required to be a master artisan with Tailoring as a dabble in order to TRY to be even mildly self sufficient. We will still require BE products to produce stuff that people will demand. I get to guess too how to go milk a Kaadu or a Wrix. Do I look like Gaylord Focker form Meet the Parents?

Newsflash: this is a massively MULTIplayer online role playing game. No player is supposed to be self sufficient, in fact the more dependencies the better. This change will encourage more people to be master artisan, which is a Good Thing (tm).

And big glasses/casks/caskets are really only for very high quality food with high quality components. Why would anyone even want to make, for example, average quality Spiced Tea in a large glass or bigger container? The resources for making two crates of small tea are way cheaper than those for one crate of large tea.

Complaints:

1) Only 1 alcohol. I liked having choices for alcohols.

2) 1 hour digestion period. I think it may hurt sales and the view people have on food. It needs to be lowered or taken out for alot of the foods that have a duration already.

3) Im not too happy with adding DR and shock to the experimentation resource stats. Rarely do good stats occur on all 4floral stats. Unless this is intended for gas and the like then I have no problem with it.

4) I dont have a problem with the casks/barrels but since alot of people have shown concerned, how about making it either artisan only sub-components for both or tailor only sub-components. Sort of meeting in the middle.

Likes (Just the stuff Im very happy about):

1) Artisan food looks like good stuff now.

2) Duration increased.

3) At first I was worried about so much to make, but it looks challenging and fun now. Looking forward to taking a crack at it.

OK here goes, hopefully short and sweet :

Containers - resource costs are prohibitively high. Without firm figures we can only guess from extrapolating the tests, but the Keg in particular requires 2 master artisan parts, plus 300 resources - instantly increasing prices of that item by over 1500cr depending on server prices. making it totally useless on all but master items

"filling" - with items taking 1hour to "decay" in teh stomache, we are rendered almost useless. Doctors can rebuff players for 3000+ per stat every time a buff drops, for 2-3 hours. Spices can be retaken 3mins after the last one is used, to get the same level buff from BoH as , would mean one buff per hour, with the initial buff not lasting anywhere near an hour.
I would suggest a massive lowering of decay times, or a large increase in buff duration.

Resource/item count - at last count, I made it 155 seperate resources/items needed as a Chef. From what I see, that will increase as we now need MA parts, tailor parts, gemstones etc.
The extra components needed increases out item counts, which as we allready know, is an issue in the game. Increasing food crate sizes to 50 may help this - particularly for food components.

Lots - The chef is unique among the crafting professions. We are expected to run a cantina, which takes 5 lots. We are a high volume business, and generally need 2 or more factories, each taking a lot. That leaves us with 1 lot for power, and 2 to harvest dozens of flora resources, gas and minerals.
This issue has not been resolved, I would suggest that the cantina should include a Food and Chemical Factory in it, to compensate for this issue, or a Cafe be added that is smaller, taking up less lots. (there;s a garden that fits this bill perfectly, however you cannot use the chairs in it, and it is classed as outside, so no vendors )

I am sure others will fill ni anything Ive missed

Here's my constructive criticism:

Have the Devs post all the new food schematics, with maximums and minimums to the food effects, and also what class makes what component.

THAT IS THE ONLY WAY to compare 1 complete system of Chef to a wholly NEW complete system of Chef..

Until then, I can only comment on how I think the new system works, and from what I've seen, we get some interesting (but who knows how useful) skill buffs, some foods are gone, some look a lot worse than what they may be, and many look like they are somewhat nerfed...

This "let's leak out a little at a time" method is only fuelling complaints because we aren't seeing the whole picture.. I'm QUITE frustrated that, from what I've seen, chefs are going to be a whole lot more time consuming and boring...

If they are going to Transform us into their new idea of what chef should be, at least give us the WHOLE DESIGN up front so we can evaluate it, and come up with reasons why it SHOULD or SHOULD NOT go live before it comes crashing down on us like a rockslide..

Yeah I know I've been a pain in your collective necks today...

For what its worth, I humblyapologize

It would be nice to get TH to pop in here and discuss some of the issues - Smugglers, DE's, CH;s, Commando's all got a personal discussion with someone on the dev team, chef doesnt warrant the attention it appears.
