Thread: Vegeparsine/Elshandruu tested

I also discovered this by testing...anyone can and should have tested this. It only takes a few minutes.
But...finally, the word is out. I posted this on the Jedi forums weeks ago and again recently. All I get it grief and confusion. I don't understand why peeps don't simply say "thanks alot, and, I will validate this myself"
But I guess, at the end of the day, the ignorant pay the price.
Well infortunatly most people on the Jedi boards seem to be dismissive of information brought to them by anyone other than a Dev or Correspondant.
Which is a shame as i've seen many informative and helpful posts go the way you desribed yours.
Carbineer: Ranged 75 + Carbine defense 40 = 115 effective defense against melee & ranged

Carbineer: Ranged 75 + Carbine defense 40 = 115 effective defense against melee & rangedRifleman: Ranged 100 + Pistol defense 30 = 130effective defense against melee & rangedKinda weird values ofcourse, but pistoleer is still the best tanker.
Oh, you are correct. When you factor in teh named defense, Pistoleer is still better. Still, I sincerely doubt that Pistoleers will find this acceptable. They are supposed to have the best defenses by far in order to make up for their limited range. Having a total of plus FIVE in defenses over rifleman isnt gonna fly. ROFL. And what about poor carbineers? They were supposed to have better defenses than rifleman too. If this is correct, then carbineers are actually WEAKER than rifleman when it comes to defenses. LOL.
So you are absolutely right about factoring in the named defenses, but I dont see how it really imrpoves the situation all that much. It is still not how we were led to believe it worked.
In determining your Defense Value it takes into account your Weapon Defense (e.g. Polearm Defense, Pistol Defense). Switching weapons must trigger a re-evaluation of your Defense Value with the new Weapon Defense type.
It appears eating Vegeparsine on its own does not trigger a re-evaluation of your Defense Value, however it does add to your Melee Defense. Switching weapons afterwards takes this new Melee Defense value into account and now it's higher. The same is most likely true of BE clothing which is why that testing shows no difference either.
Bug #2, the semantics of defense type being verses or while holding, is a little weird. It could be as simple as when calculating your Defense Value for the damage bonus /penalty forumla it uses your weapon type instead of the attackers. I doubt it's working as intended, but I wouldn't be shocked if they use that excuse when they acknowledge it.
Kudos to Regen and others for all the work on this.
