Personally I want to get it to a point where digestion is a puzzle. You can't take everything at once, and you have to move things around to figure out which works best for you. I want them to keep a timer in, but making it low enough that trying to figure out which buffs to take when is a challenge, not a chore.

Another possible compromise that would leave everyone rather happy, I believe:

Stomach decay to 15 minutes

Leave in old Fishak, Glucose Pate and Sunburns, remove them if you truly need to balance after the combat changes are in

You know what, if the 45 minute test is correct, I think it's just about right. Although, I'd hate to ever side with the DEVs (evil DEV, evil )

From a little regression analysis, it looks like the new buffs on average should last about 45min. Just how long a full stomach would last.

However, 30 minutes would ensure this. Yeah, 30 minutes. We need 30 minutes. How do you do that really big font?

Ezran, Im all for the 30 minutes, but Im worrid about the few 3 min foods we have. Im worried about the pre patch food that lasts 9-13 min. Im worried about the new food that lasts about the same time. So:

A) all food decays instantly after duration.

B) all food decays according to its duration OR each food has a set decay and playing with the duration can shorten that.

B seems much harder to put in, but that will make ALL foods worthwhile.

There must be a DEV plot for the 3 minute food. I don't know what it is. But it's something evil. I'm sure of it. (ie. The 3 min food makes absolutely no sense to me)

Pre-patch food will need some dealing with, since it won't just vanish at the patch (Or maybe it will? EVIL) Maybe a temporary....No. We could reduce the....No. Wow, I'm glad I don't have to deal with prepatch buff problems.

Aha! Make all prepatch food filling 30%. They last about 15 minutes, and they will make you uber, so they will hold people over until the combat changes, and they will disappear fast. We'll have to wait and see.

There are skill buffs which only last 15 minutes, but they are rarely more than 30% filling, so the buff outlasts the fill, and you definitely can't take more than 1, I checked that this moring, even if they are different food with the same buff, all in the same sentence, so that's good.

I'm getting more and more sarcastic. I must be getting tired.

That's a simple, rational solution that will satisfy customers on live, and help ease the transition into the new foods.

It'll never happen.

Actually, after I thought about this for a bit, 30% would almost certainly be too low. Don't forget, currently you can only drink one Angerian, eat one Ice cream orone (maybe two with good flavor) Ryshcate. Do you think a 30 minute downtime between re-buffs would be enough of a deterrent to someone drinking *three* Fishaks? The current outcry from losing Fishak is bad enough, let's not give people hopes of +1800-2100 Mind buffs... Maybe 51% filling for Master and Tier4 schematics, 49% for tier3 schematics? Ah, no, that'd let them drink another too quickly.

Now, if the "already under the effect" check is on a per-schematic basis (as opposed to checking for existing skill/resist bonus) I wonder if that would be something to add along with the 30% filling, but it would take determining what foods can be eaten multiple times on live, and having to set that flag for all old food/drinks.

I knew there was something I liked about you.

i had a question..i saw that chef was being changed....and from the looks of it ..it would be fun...so i grinded my way to 0-0-2-0 chef. Now im reading this thread and im wondering just when is this patch suppoes to occur? and is it really worth grinding now? i know its really a question of whether i wanna do it as a personaly choice, but from a stand point of so many schematics going bye bye...and these new ones not working right or no one really liking them now.I know that HOPEFULLY they fix this stuff before it goes live, but again i ask...is it worth it?

Right now, I pretty sure no.

But I disagree with that one.

I was thinking SV said it did empty upon death.(I could bewrong though, information overload at the moment:smileyvery-happyWhen you said you disagree did you mean you disagree that it should empty upon death? If you die and loose your buff then your new clone isnt going to come back with its stomach full either

21 xp is insanity! Took me about two hours under the current system to get to Mixology I. With 21 xp it would be 6 hours of grinding with 6 crafting tools just to get one skillbox.

I suppose 90% of the genuine newbs who generally haven't figured out how to grind with macros would drop Novice Chef after a couple of very frustrating days.

If they got Usage XP working like properly, really working properly, and giving out respectable amounts even from factory food, then it might make more sense. But I get the distinct impression that the whole idea of UXP has more or less been thrown out.

At any rate this was clearly an oversight. Can't believe it will go to live without them sorting something out.

As no one buys heaps of single novice items (crap buff, factory = 2.1xp per...yay) and as you usually grind in practice mode UXP is rather irrelevant in this matter anyways

Well, looks like novice food gives dodge bonus(Air Cake), taming bonus(Almond-Kweevu), and pet health buff(Blap Biscuit).

Considering how many Pistoleers, CH, and non-CH pets there are out there; If they were inexpensive, I could see a lot of people using them.

aircake still gives GC...hopefully fixed before patch, additionally there are better versions up the tree. However this one might still see a little use due to the resources involved here vs higher up.

pet health buff for non-ch ...yea maybe usable...tho im guessing folks would buy the better buffs much like buy the better buffs now. good idea but i think it will play out just as the tree plays out now. People will want the better buffs from the top of the tree.

taming - With the CH nerf, taming doesnt allow a ch to tame or call a higher level creature anymore. Taming simply means they may tame the animal in 2 tries instead of 3. Well a try takes about what 20 seconds? Not seeing a demand for this myself.
