Not true at all. I have no scout skill and tested some crappy travel biscuts that I threw together. I went up a hill behind my house twice, unbuffed 22 seconds, buffed 8. Huge difference.

I spent a night with a chef and saw 90% of the foods available.

I made 100% of them. Most suck. A handful are very good. (and armorsmiths make 1 maybe 2 useful armors, droid engineers ummm crafting bots woot! So by having ahandful you are already ahead.. and have just as much and likely more choice than previous)

what about foods that eliminate 50% damage for X amount of hits (synthsteak?)

Heh, nice try. Synthsteak is one of the few useful foods, but it doesn't reduce damage by anywhere near 50%... it can only take light additives, so even with an additive it'd be lucky to clear 40%. Without it's nowhere near. (nice try? so my 50% guess is such an exageration over your stated 40%..lol)

flameout which was 99% damage reduction

for what, four hits? With a filling so high it completely precludes drinking the almighty Brandy, this has good shock value in theory, and little actual value in practice. (your loss if you dont see the benefit of this one...never been in a fight where it can go either way? Like next hit wins? I have on many occasions. Now in PvP you can stop 4 or 5 shots outright! The melee dude gonna need this to even think about getting close to the rifleman who is hs3ing him from 60M. Sorry you are way off on this one.

Extra harvest for the rangers collecting the very valuable and hard to get in quantity avian meat

Used it. Things that I usually harvest for 202 went up to 218. Yay. Bestill my heart, and please be patient while I send an email to a Chef begging for more of this at 75k/crate, so I can harvest enough extra meat that I can sell for 50k. That's good business sense if I ever saw it. I tried giving this to my hunting partner, a master scout. He used one charge and gave it back. If I can't give it away for free, you really think there's a market to sell it? Sure, if I were out hunting a really high-quality avian meat that I could sell for 100 cpu, I might want this. Might. (oddly enough a guy mentionsusing this in this very thread. The low grade stuff i tried was 15% harvest... so using your 202 normal harvest what % was the crap you were using? Even a very low 10% should have raised it by 20. You say you might not use it well again your lose...at 15% you increase your profit margin by *drum roll* 15%!!! what is so wrong with 15% more? I mean if you are gouging on the price then yes it is not so great for a ranger/scout to use. If it is priced fair they will buy it.)

action stat buffs...health stat buffs ... experimentation foods (dont want a crit on that RIS armor now do we).

action buffs, health buffs... that again preclude the use of Brandy (or Canape). Experimentation foods have yet to be shown to give any improvement. Between me and an AS/WS partner we've chugged over 50 Ports and are yet to see an amazing success while under its effect. Critical failures number three. (*sigh...ok not 100% sure on this one but I believe it increases the chance of success on your next experiment... That means you are more likely to get a great succes and not ruin your item with lesser ones. Dont expect to suddenly make better products then you ever have before just cause of port. Just means instead of a 10% change of ruining the fine krayt gun you have an 8% chance...numbers used just as an example. 2% you may scoff at but not everyone. Why you think people pay big for 14%+ tools and 40%+ stations... because EVERY % counts! again your loss)

terrain negotiation and melee def for the jedi's and BH's who have little or no defences otherwise.

Terrain negotiation food has no effect if you aren't a Scout. If you are a Scout, you don't need a terrain negotiation boost. Pitiful melee defense + 10 = pitiful melee defense. BHs will still get hit every single time someone/thing swings at them. They're better off with synthsteak. ( Ya think maybe with all the new foods some of them may be bugged? Fact is any boost of 10 or greater in terrain negotiation is going to be a benefit.. You cannot assume everyone has terrain 4 or higher. I have a tk/fencer/pistoleer on bria with 192 melee defense... She rarely gets hit... Dont try to call 10 melee def pitiful because in order to get to 192 you need to do it about 10 at a time!...BH's and jedi slap you across the galaxy! Oh wait your friend is ubar BH and he said it is crap so well...must be crap..is that it?)

+20 to dodge??? and you say people will laugh at that? umm think again dude... when dodge no longer stacks fencers be banging down the door for that stuff...lol.. or at least the smart ones will.... ever tried to hit someone with high dodge skills?

You're right, 200 dodge is very formidable. 15 isn't. I (fencer) and a friend (pistoleer) have been using aircake extensively, and I stopped making it. Niether of us can tell the difference between having this buff and not. ( Again you miss the point...you go from 1 extreme to the other. At some point dodge does have a great effect... having a +15 or +20 boost is huge! wont even comment more on this one cause now your just talking crap!)

Reduced spice downer...again an awesome use item

It might be if it worked. Well, if it worked and didn't have that duration. And wasn't so filling. And didn't preclude the use of Brandy. Of course, with a list of qualifiers that long, Wastril Bread would've also been "awesome". (admitted bugs in some foods, Fact is when it works it will have great value... stop being shortsighted)

And I suppose the mind heal foods are crap too?

Blue Milk, once again, precludes the use of Brandy. Given the choice between a 350 heal, or a 250 heal AND buff to mind, focus, and willpower, I don't see many people opting for the heal. Well, many smart people anyway. (what is the fill rate on Blue Milk...is it less than brandy? If so then there is great use...if fill is larger I will concede this one to you)

I actually like several of the new foods. About a dozen of them are likely to strongly appeal to a niche market. Perhaps I'd have spent some time agreeing with you if you had actually touched on the few good foods other than Synthsteak. Trying to claim they'll all be widely demanded though completely denies any sense of reason. Niche markets are, by definition, low volume. You can't sell massive amounts of dodge food when only a couple combat classes are even able to dodge, and there's certainly no need for three different dodge foods to exist (in the complete absence of counterattack or block ones). Port is so filling you can't even make a single item fully under its effects. Trying to use it throughout the completion of a single suit of RIS armor (as you suggest) would take weeks. Many of the interesting buffs are simply too small to matter. I asked a CM friend what the potency on his disease packs was, and he replied 112. So, if I drink this +disease defense drink, I can take my chance of resisting from 0% all the way up to 3%? Not even that, I'm afraid. My friend informed me that if people started resisting him he'd have no trouble making packs with yet higher potencies. Etc. Etc. Etc. For widespread appeal there are only a few foods, and only one drink.

I never once said ALL foods would be beneficial..you just made that one up yourself. The best thing about the "niche" market is it fills out your variety..might not sell as fast or make as much money but is still a profitable item. Coupled with the fact that when these niche market buyers come to your vendor they maybuy other things as well...ever heard of impulse shopping? So that 1 item that rarely sells might bring someone into your shop that decides to buy you out... Dont discount the niche market because you think there is no value. As for spending a week to build RIS armor. Whats the big deal with that? The armor gonna sell for millions! is 1 weeks wait not worth millions? And finally disease...there you go thinking extremes again. So you get poisoned with a 3% chance to resist...umm you are suprised by this? Now lets look at the smart PvPer with that same 3%..but he has Aakuun cloak (sp?) and some skill tapes so he has base poison resist of say 23%... Added together 26%.. so are your chances not better to resist now? I mean what do you expect god mode? this is a skill based game and every point of damage..every % of resist counts bigtime...makes the difference between the casual PvP and the good PvPers. Oh and how strong the poison is makes no difference as to wether you get poisoned or not... CM throws poison... check is made against resistance... if it fails it does not poison and you resisted... If poison hits strength determines the damage you take per tick. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The Chef profession did not improve, though our food did. Your inability to grasp that those are separate issues explains quite a bit.

This is your opinion. Others do not share your opinion and some do. I am having no problems grasping anything. You on the other handhave a friendtry a food once and based solely on his opinionhave determined the fate of the chef profession..lol.. You sir give chefs a bad name... must have been a holo prof! lolololol

BE tissue takes 3 days to make,

BEs I talked to told me then can make 500 tissues overnight. Then won't it take you another day to make additives?

Additive 1 day

Cask 1 day

Alcohol 1 day x 2 required = 2 days

Brandy 1 day

That is8 days for 1 factory to do a full run of Brandy (assuming trim is purchsed). I realize that with 6 factories and good factory management I could get that to6days.

Isn't it possible to run all of them and have a constant supply of 20 crates of BE enhanced brandy every day.

I don't understand how is it possible to be a factory slave at all (unless you make a crate of each food every day). Make a few schematics, start your factory and you're free for other activities for the rest of the days.

It takes 52 hours to do 1000 BE tissues. If you examine the factory it tells you how many seconds it takes to make 1. Maybe poorer quality BE tissue can be done in 2 days, but the 84% stuff I have running takes about 52 hours. So If I logged in every night for the same 2-3 hour period thenthe factory would not be finished, thus 3 days.Maybe I have a poor quality factory, but I wasnt aware that the quality of a factory determined its production rate, but that would make too much sense and be too complicated for SOE to implement.

To answer the other part, it is possible to juggle factories and crates around, but I dont like doing that. If you do do that then you will become a slave to your factories. I am not saying I am trying to make a quick buck with no work, on the contrary Igenerally spend twice as much time playing\working my chef than I would my combat charater. All thattime is actually spent doing stuff to keep my business running and my vendors stocked so people do not show up to find an empty vendor. Before the patch I would only do full factory runs of all the products I made. I had 4 high volume sellers and about 6 low volumes ones I would sell. With the current factory times (BE tissue) and the extra 2 factory runs to make the best sellers I forsee I will be stocking probably 2 items. As long as the Brandy market doesnt get saturated. Which I see that happeningconsidering the ammount of time a person can stay buffed with 1 crate now.

Well you don't have to produce your own tissues. I've made an arrangement to buy 500 units at a time because I only can make 20 crates of brandy per run anyway. If you work with several BEs or they have multiple factories it's possible to have a steady supply of nutrients. As a chef I actually have more time now because factories are doing everything for me. I only have to make a few schematics and then have time to do other things.
