Thread: How do you REALLY feel about recipes being re-balanced?

redo it...sunburns need to be up top or the food/drinks up top need to be better than them.

I have no problem with them reballancing thigs, as long as our buffs become worthwhile, stackable, and cometitive with buffs from other classes. Upper level buffs should be really great. Negative effects of buffs whould be less with higher end foods. Lower level Chef buffs should be better than higher end Artisan foods. Rewource requirements shouldn't change too much, so those who have been gathering resources for their current and future foods won't be stuck with tons of worthless resources. Simply replacing Tat Sunburns to Mix 4 is a little silly. The rest of the food needs to be reworked. Our only purpose is to buff, our buffs need to last longer, buff higher, and have less negative side effects (oh, yeah - they should be stackable as well, no one wants our stuff, cause it won't stack with Doctor or Entertainer buffs - **edit**?)

I want a balanced skill tree. If that means I have to sell a bunch of resources that have become useless to me, so be it. Anything for a balanced skill tree.

I'm all for them being "rebalanced." Also, what does "re-balanced" mean?I'm guessing that this means that the recipes were "balanced" at some point in life.... what happened since then to cause them to be "un-balanced?"

I do think we should have better buffs. If not bigger buffs, then longer durations of the buffs we can make.

I also like the idea we've thrown around about food giving people stat increases and such. That would be neat.

I would love to see a recipe that boosts terrain negotiation, or one that adds mask scent (think of a very potent garlic-laced entree), or maybe a few different desserts that grant an extra couple of experimentation points in particular skill trees. Can you imagine the market for these items?

"Another food issue is the number or materials required in food... Drop the materials needed and drop the cost of food... This will increase the USE of food and the usefulness of our profession..."

As a user of food and not a maker of it I would prefer much larger stacks of food. The only thing I could compare food to is stims. They are both 1 use items. 1500 for a decent stim B with 35+ charges is about an average price I would say. I think I could live with paying 1000-2000 per piece of food if the stack was 35+ on it. I would much rather carry 5 pieces with 35 uses than 25 pieces with 7 uses. I would use a lot more of this also. Even if I buy a crate, a full crate really isn't going to last too long.

Right now food has very limited value, basically because of the duration IMO, in RL I don't normally eat and then am hungry(stats wear off) after 4-5 minutes.

500ish bonus for 2-3 stats(put some minuses there also) for at least 10 minutes is a decent item assuming I can consume another right after that one wears off. That would easily be worth 50c per use(30 use for 1500c). IMO thats not completely overpowering either. At least not compared to the 2500+ stat boosts you get from doctors or the 500+ stat bonuses from spice.

As I have stated before in a post, which seemed to have gotten completely ignored.. Instead of a person exploiting skill trees to only go after one box or two that are early on, I recommended that the recipes be completely redone..

  1. Entrees would only buff the red bar

  2. Desserts would only buff the green bar

  3. Mix (drinks) would only buff the blue bar

  4. Technique would determine crafting and experimentaion..

With such an easy set up,, if you want to buff all areas, you'll have to even skill in ALL areas, or settle for novice.. I would definately make it so the best buffs are at the top , and lowest ones at the bottom.. From that theory SOE, or whoever, can come up with the numbers to use..

I agreed that Tatooine Sunburn didn't belong in Mix II when I was AT Mix II and I haven't changed my mind. Yet, if it's done without anything else changing it will suck. Chef does NOT merely need a few recipes moved about but a much more in depth look than that. If the Tat Sunburn recipe is moved, and another put in its place - that is decent! - then it's ok, imo.

Jumping in this thread a little late, but here's my 2 creds...

If they moved sunburns up to mix 4 that would be fine with me (Of course I haven't even hit mix IV anway)... but at least give us some useful stuff down at the lower ends too! It doesn't have to be the most powerful, but as everone's been saying 1000 times over, it's pointless to make the elite-class chef items when most are about the same as artisal-level foods, plus by the time you master clothing/food IV, you've got enough expirementation xp to make any of those foods even better; meanwhile I've got a 50% chance of ruining my meatlump if I try to do anything fancy, like add extra spices.

Oh, and I meant spices in the non-drug sense of the word. Oops!

I for one, have always advocated that Mix II is too low for sunburns, at the current buff level/skillbox situation we have now.

I feel that Master Chef items should buff for the same as Doctor Enhancements at the very least, and Novice items should be at LEAST 10% better than Master Artisan experimented foods, with a sliding scale between them.

I would like to see some additional buff types added, ones like :

Increased Pistol Speed +25/2mins
Increase Injury Treatment Speed +25 5mins
Increased burst run efficiency +10 5min

Things like that to make us unique, but I think we also need the stat buffs, as not everyone can carry a doctor with them for uberbuffs - it also balances the playfield a little as we are seeing a lot of buffbot 2nd accounts, or people going a combat line + 0240 Doctor so they can buff themselves

Sorry to criticize a previous post, since I think we are all asking for the came thing-- chef trees that make sense and are useful, but-- cronus-- no no no no no. The chef tree is beautifully complex, with potentially useful foods and drink for every tree/level, I would hate to see the Devs ruin it by making a cookie cutter A>B>C type of skill tree.

With that said, we should ask for them to make things make more sense and each class of foods have it's own unique style. I also think artisan foods should have situations where they are more desirable than chef foods, so there is a benfit to being an artisan. For instance,Veghash is my second best seller behind tat sunburns, but I think entrees 2 is a fine place for them, and bofa treats seem to make the best pet food because of the low number of resources needed to make them.

To me, secondary stat buffs go further than HAM buffs. So maybe artisan foods can buff HAM only, and the chef foods can start mixing in secondary stats. Lower level foods can have fewer stat increases in the mix, or have downer effects while uppers are higher bunuses, better mixes of stats, and/or fewer/no decrease effects.

Also, I think duration is where we should excel. Drinks should have a duration of 30-60 min, desserts 1-4 hours, and entrees 3+ hours. Honestly, if they moved tat sunburns to Mix 4 and upped the duration as outlined above, chef would become a more viable trade overnight, leaving tweaks for bonuses on food and drinks left to clean up the class. They could alternately or in addition put downsides on alcoholic types with the higher bonuses, desserts less down effects but lower bonuses, andentrees no down effects but the lowest bonuses. Spices should have the highest bonuses, lowest duration and aftereffects (and should not be called food on the bazaar). As far as aftereffects, buffs and food should not decrease actual health points, etc. as well as max number, causing incap (did they fix this?) but maybe spices should-- vomiting is cute, but does it really cause a problem or a reason not to take drugs?

Another idea-- wound healing foods. I know, docs would scream, and they would have to be less useful than doctor heals, but they could make them useful only in camp or when resting and not helpful in combat etc. by decreasing the actual stat while wounds are healing-- for instance a heal5 wound points in stamina food would decrease stamina by like 50 for the duration of the food.

Just some ideas to kick around-- I was hoping specific ideas for gently improving the class might be helpful, if the Devs read these boards.
