In theory you could unlock your slot without using a single holocron if you so wished. But for that you'd have to be extremely lucky or disturbingly stupid.

But yes, you can finish professions not yet mentioned by a holocron. Just remember this, there is no such profession which is your "silent" one before you start mastering the others. The silent is simply the last one of the five profession, the one you haven't done yet. So there will always be a silent one.

I was wondering if anyone had ever tried mastering the 4 holo professions and using a holo on another toon on a differant server and try mastering that profession?I was just thinking that if the FS slot is connected to the account maybe the professions are to. I thoought I had heard a rumor about this but I could be wrong. I do have my Primary who is going through the grind and I have a xmas holo on another server so I will test it an let you know, but like I said just wondering if anyone has every tried.

I screwed up and accienty used my 2nd Holo when I ment to place it into my backpack. Well it told me to become a Master Entertainer which is what my 1st Holo said and is what I'm working on.

My question is, shouldn't the Holo of told me what the next profession that was needed for me to Master?

no any and all holos will tell you the same thing until you actually master the profession given to you by the holocron. for instance my first told me creature handler I waited til I mastered it to open my second which told me Doctor.

Holocrons will all say the same profession until you complete it.

I just came back to SWG from FFXI. I played during beta, andleft. Now that im back everywhere i go they are talking about these holo's. I know they are jedi and sith related but don't know what they do. Can someone plz xplain when or how you get them, and what they do, and what happens when they go silent?

well the general consensus seems to be that you need to master 5 professions to become a jedi..

the holocrons will tell you what profession to master next, up to 4 professions.. the 5th profession is blind and you have to figure it out on your own, basically by grinding as many professions as possible.

be warned though, the devs have said the jedi path is changing with publish 7, and its unsure whether or not you will be credited anything for the current system if you don't unlock before then.

I made a character in late December and used for Holo's - Swordsman, Driod Engineer, Fencer and Architect, I never got another holo which I assume would be silent. Does it serve any function for me to get one just to have it give me the silent message or can we just assume that if you have done 4 holo professions that any further holo would be silent?

I heard of one guy who had 5. Wouldnt hurt to get one. There pretty cheap these days anyways. I think there is even a mission where you can get one.

If it's silent, you won't use up the holocron, so it would be advisable to use it anyway. I went silent after 3 holocrons, having mastered 6 professions total before using the 4th. Someone else had 5 professions before getting silent, so you never know.
