Well - not if every color change the clothing takes a hit. I'm looking at pure mechanics of item counts here.
Dancer has a fleshwrap. She can buy one in 10 colors - and have 10 items - or have that one dyed 10 times (for a fee - goldsink out of the world) OR - still buy 10 in different colors.
By the time it's been color changed that many times - she'd be back for another.
Different customers would have different takes on this, but I think the convience of smaller inventories and fun factor in being able to 'do it themselves' even if thru an NPC would kickstart that part of the market and I don't think I'd sell any less - indeed in many cases - I think I'd sell more. I suspect customers that would want to do this would also do their hats, shoes - ect to match, making for even more sales down the line.
I'm really open to suggestions - but I was thinking out loud as it were on ways to accomplish the same goals (or indeed improve the process) and reduce necessary items to survive at the same time.

Actually instead of doing the dye kits because that would just make tailors lose out on alot of money, what I propose and wish they would do is to make clothes like you can do with the composite armor and be able to change the color but make it a one time use only. With this method, tailors would instead of having to make 10 of the same kind of clothes and make each one a different color, we would be able to run a factory crate of 10 of them, stick them on a vendor and when someone buys the clothes they can change the color to their liking. This would save us alot of trouble at having to do many "personal" clothing requests all the time and would save the non tailors time in trying to find a Tailor willing to make certain clothes a certain color. Granted that there will still be some "personal" clothing requests, I beleive this method would probably be a very good choice on this subject and make it where you can do a one time change of color on clothes when someone buys from a vendor.

I so wish that it didnt take Master tailor get true reds and other colors - that way starting tailors could make items that people wanted to buy. Save Master for more designs that type of thing - but freeing up the colors would help all tailors out.

This is a great idea, if only tailors could make it, we can make some extra money with dye kits.
Why certainly I can make a dye kit for you Mr. Customer -- That'll be fifty million credits; cash or charge?

I agree, Dye Kits..oh bull. Thats just what we need.
If this happened..you can go ahead and put tailors out of bussiness. Sooo..i dont think the Devs will do this..but you never know.
Again..i dont think the devs will do this.

Dye kits ... like NJ says: "Over my cold, dead lekku!!!!"
Hi Kalistar, I don't think we've met on gorath. Where are you? I just moved my shop to Corellia, because Dantooine lags like a sick pig.

I havea coupleissues with the dye kit idea...I'm sure I have more, butI can't think of them at the moment
1.) My partner and I always name our clothes with our company name and the color. It would be a bit odd for a customer to have an item with the color nameof Purple/Blue and the actual color of, say, Black/Red. We would have to forego the courtesy of the customer having an idea of what color the clothing is before actually looking at it on the vendor. It would be very misleading if the item ended up on the bazaar.
2.) In a RL shop, you have the choices that are there. You don't ask for them to dye it in a color of your choice...you go on to the next shop and hope they have the color you want. Of course, in this game, you do have the option to have your item(s) custom colored by the tailor. I suppose in RL you do have the option to dye your own clothes...I certainly wouldn't want to try it (who knows howthat would turn out
) At any rate, it really seems to be something that would take away the idea of having a tailor custom make your clothes. Dye kits would only make our services less valuable to the customer. I like being able to come up with crazy color combos and helping my customers find just the right colors to fit them. It's one ofmy few joys in this profession
Oh, well. Maybe these issues I brought up aren't valid...or maybe just not thought out enough (I'm dealing with my wake-up routine
).These are just the random bits that were floating around in my head when I read this thread.

I think you expressed the major points very clearly why we don't want to be dye tub vendors

I'm sure that idea will die away soon. If the dye kit idea was applied, the economy for tailors will go dowwwwn the drain.
That dye kit thing is one selfish dumb idea if you ask me.

if they did make it so that we could make dye kits to sell to customers, i would refuse to sell them,
and i believe alot of "true" tailors would do the same. i agree with the idea of tailors having the
ability to change the clothing color of a post created item.
