While I can neither confirm nor deny that chefs are/aren't getting new stuff with JTL launch because 1) I'm not allowed and 2) I didn't look (getting into space and blowing stuff up was too tempting), brainstorming ideas is always fun to do. There's always the possibility of space food getting added in a publish after JTL launches.

Thermofried Icecream

A food favored by Ithorians on deep space journies, it has been known to sharpen the reflexes.

Fill: 66
Duration: 40ish mins
Effect: +5 to 10 ship control (would make a lesser ship a tad easier to fly and control)

Pirate's Moxie

A rich and heavily spiced drink favored by pirates, it is commonly found by those who frequent the watering holes of Lok.

Type: drink
Fill: 66
Duration: 1-3 hits
Effect: 80%-100% damage reduction to your ship

Bro, its a twitch based game, ship control is based upon urfingers and engin parts.

Foods cant enhance ur engin parts and the rest of it is based on how well you fiddle with your joystick *couldnt resist*

They were examples only. Foods cant make you take less damage from a 20 ton Rancor also....but they do (Synthsteak). Troll somewhere else.

LOL, u said troll. And u didnt explain how a food is going to affect a hull/sheilds/boosters of a ship.

Have you ever seen someone on crank? steriods? or any other controlled substance?

I am a big guy, i can definately handle my own and put someone down in a fight, one on one. However, i (being 220 pounds) wouldnt think of fighting someone weighing in at 170 pounds who is on crank. They dont feel it, you punch, you kick, you pin, nothing, they feel nothing until they are knocked out or dead. Thats the difference, a food or a drug has a physical and chemical altering affect to a body and nervous system. Organic foods affect metal and plasma... how?

Go be a renob somewhere else.

I tend to agree, while this is sci-fi, food can effect people which is much more believable than effecting electronics. I really feel there is a place in JTL for it. I like the idea of a quicker repair time, things like that.

My example of food was just an attempt to be creative. I did not suggest anything by them. All I did was post two ideas that sprung to mind. My idea of the foods was that they help the pilot maybe move out of the way a little by enchancing his or her reflexes...hence the damage reduction. Or perhaps they increase other attributes enabling you to better control your ship.

Again they were just quick creative ideas. Rather then tell me and other posters why our ideas wont work (even though they were hasty) why dont you post some alternate ideas ?

Either way I wont be arguing with you any longer since it will prove derogative to this thread.

Thats fine, dont argue, wasnt really an arguement anyways. And i honestly dont have any foods that could help out a ship, or the player. There are no skill mods so far as i can see in the beta, so theres really nothing to enhance. And a food cant enhance metal, however someone said something about making a special alcohal to increase engine speed. that would be an interesting thought on the matter. All i said was how would ur ideas work, u called me a troll. Get over it, wasnt arguing in the first place.

Developers seem to want to concentrait on player skill and the quality of ur ship so far as i can tell, based on those 2 things should you/we/us be looking at enhancements coz with no skill mods.... whats left?

Well, I'm not in beta, so I haven't got any insider-information, but some small suggestions:

Chef-items, that would enhance your vision, so you could see an enemy seconds before he could see you (unless he had the same kind of chef-item). Would get you that extra little thing, that chef-items are supposed to get you. It would be measuered in meters of course. This would be a "stat" that you wouldn't get better in even if your were a Master Pilot, you could only get the advantage by eating the food.

And, from what I've been hearing, there are some "stats", or speacial abilities, (like the Privateer's /ptrap1, /ptrap2, /epulse1, /ffscramble and so on.)

Why not have foods that would greaten the chance of getting a good result of the special abilites.

Like if you ate some food that would greaten the chance of getting a good result on the /ptrap1, you would be more focused on sending a more realistic Freighter distress call.

Or, if you used some food to improve the /epulse1 command, you would be more focused on doing the system overrides succesfully (as descriped in the text here: http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/content.jsp?page=Jump%20to%20Lightspeed:%20Getting%20started%20as%20a%20Privateer:%20Part%20II )

Just some small suggestions on some JTL foods!

Well I just got into beta a few days ago. On the bright side of things I have found it very fun so far and very addicting.

But to confirm there is nothing added for chefs

Way to violate your NDA pal. /hi5 Next time you're in the Beta, if they don't revoke your invite, check out some of the other professions and see how many of them get nothing new, even though you like to think it, you're probably not alone.

Chef communityneeds to gain a sense of perspective on this. Chefs were the recipients of what is generally considered to have been the best thought out and comprehensive profession revamp in the game thus far. Gone from joke to necessity overnight. Look at the state and pace of swg development overall before you justify asking for more. Gain some calm, and let the other hurting professions get some much needed help, if its coming for them in JTL.

I think we all knew that when the beta boards were visible to almost everyone for an entire day. And this comprehensive profession revamp you speak of did not just benefit chefs...it has helped every player that is in this game.

And for the record this is the chef forums and here we discuss what trends, changes ect are in store for OUR profession. If I wanted to bother discussing other professions I would post in their respective boards.

Woosh, read the NDA, you did violate it, we arent allowed to talk about specifics of anything, otherwise the correspondant would have......

everyone knows its a twtich based game where PLAYER (not character) skill is whats needed. so instead of saying whats 'not' in there, try thinking of what you could ADD to it.

Are we the only crafting profession that is getting shafted by the first major expansion of the game.

I'm not in beta, but I know it has been said that Thunderheart said food would be no use in space.

Shipbuilders, Weaponsmiths, Armorsmiths, Droid Engineers and Master Artisans all still get new stuff why not us?

No use for animals in space. Those three mastercreature handlers left in the game won't have much use for the skills in space. If you all sell less food I sell less tissues. No animals, no chef tissues and no pet meds.

No, you aren't the only profession that is effected by JTL. I would love to see you all get new food items for space. My business is directly impacted by yours. I've got all my crossables crossed for you.

TyfoE those are some good suggestions thanks for your input now if others would read it.

I feel for Bio Engineers too, many of them are dependent on chef sales more than anything else to make money. Pets don't ever really die so once someone has the ones they like they don't ever need new ones ( only factional pets suffer permadeath ).

Let chef's possibilities be something along these lines...

Food X, lowers resource requirements to repair aspects of your ship, different foods/drinks do different things. Say you have 70% shield damage that needs to be repaired when you land. you take "supergoo", and you get a base 10%, andwith enhanced supergoo, 30% cost reduction on shield repairs due to the food somehow allowing you to be more cost effective in your repair. Maybe a food/drink that increases your luck of finding decent loot in space, or more salvegable parts from destroyed enemy ships?

I take it you have all stocked up your vendors with Pyollian Cake and Bespin Port??? Forget about foods to enhance the pilots, that is twitch based. However, the numerous people who want to make the ships will need to have as much of the crafting foods as possible!

Also remember that people will not permanently stay up in space for numerous reasons, one being boredom. Take the few "quiet"weeks you get post-launch to stock your vendors as the many other chefs are leaving the profession to take up Shipwright and you will find the demand for your wares increases.
