It is sort of one of those, why bother? things. I would have waited till the CU and figured out a good timing and duration for foods then.
Chef revamp was made with the CURB in mind. The 30 min digestion was also made with the CURB in mind. This was a bug reported on the first day it hit live (you can check a post on my alt account PSKstang, and it was mentioned by the TC testers like sciguy). I do not think the new combinations will be affected. And besides, chefs have learned how to adapt.
If you read some of the posts on the chef forum right around the annoncement of the revamp, you would have sworn armageddon was upon us. Everyone was complaining about the loss of angerian fishak and tatooine sunburn. However, the opposite actually occured and the chefs became a more lucrative profession. I honsestly think this change will not be a problem and if it does become a problem, we will adapt in no time.
