Thread: Dessert Chefs VS Rich Chefs VS Your Average Joe Chef
Secondly...75 strength, 80 strenght...thats only a 5 point difference, on a scale of someone'e health bar which is say roughly 800...that's what...almost a .5% differential Really big deal. You won't even notice the difference.
"Every chef that wants to make enough food tokeep more than 1 person a day buffed needs a factory. To me, that's as good as saying "this will help all chefs". "
No thats not as good as saying "this will help all chefs"
It's saying this will help all chef's who have factories.
All chefs do or will have factories.
The same is true of architects.
For the same reasons.
So the factory bug effects you, whether you realize it yet or not.
And my point with the different numbers is that you cannot turn a stack of +70, a stack of +75 and a stack of +80 into one stack. This is the same reason that a stack of 600 malleability Nabooian Scaley Hide does not stack with a stack of 800malleability Nabooian Scaley Hide. They don't stack because they aren't exactly the same. The game doesn't just average out the numbers and let you combine them, they have to be exactly the same in order to stack.
My priority list was just a matter of opinion, as with all the rest of my posts. I'm just trying to support them with reasonable arguements, but ultimately, it's what the chef community decides as a whole.
So i leave it at that. This is getting out of control
"All chefs do or will have factories."
You know what happens when you assume right?
Not all chefs will have factories, but the ones serious about making the higher level buffs need them by definition. Look at the recipes: 2 identical alchohol from a factory crate. 2 identical pastebread from a factory crate. Without a factory you cant make these.
I use my 2 factoriesfor making all the alchohol components for some drinks, and starshine for tatooine sunburn. When they're free, I stick them onto grinding out ithorian mist to give me xp(because I sure as hell am not going to grind 400+ ithorian mists for cooking IV)
Also, for those that are interested, factories produce items at a rate of 8*complexity seconds per item.
P.S. I wish I could afford a fusion reactor whatchamacallit, but on our server(lowca, the nightmare server) they cost about 150K. I'm using 2 solars at the moment and very happy with em.
Okay, I was intruiged until I saw a blatantly false comment: "All chefs do or will have factories."
COUGH
Why do you think that? If somebody only plays an hour a day, or maybe has multiple characters, they may never acheive the money and time needed to own and operate a factory. I honestly don't think I will for a few months, and that's if I don't quit by then. This is a pretty poor assumption on your part.
You could become a rich chef if factories worked OK. I'm getting creature handlers asking for large quantities of food. I sell them factory crates at a huge discount for resources(they don't need to eat the cost of SOE's bugs), but it's very inefficient for me. If I could give them 3-5 times the servings for the cost to make in a factory, I'd be a lot richer.
I'm not a rich chef, but I'm not having too much trouble selling. Ya I've got a PA hall selling my goods, but if I put stuff on the bazaar it gets sold too. I can't make enough to make a huge profit with the time & resources I have, but it supports a factory, farm, house, and windmill. If the factory thing was working I'd be doing OK financially, and I think any player with a little bit of self promotion coud do the same.
Ryschate is an awesome desert, i can't wait to get it...but right now i'm working on cooking III
I'm a powergamer, but am currently independent (no help from PA's etc.) Many players help out though with resources, trading drinks for wood etc.
Factories are just fine for components.
in real life I worked as a cook for about a year in a country club and about 6 months as a dishwashers as well (working onmy exp grind in rl?)
I worked for 2 chefs , a Sue Chef and a Baker (lots of weddings needs lots of fancy cakes)
well , anyone that has worked as a cook and had to make elegent foods not just foods from the menu would know a factory even with 500 driods could never produce.
Where a weapon or a piece of lumber can be mass produces by a blueprint and well built machinery Cooking is a Art ..
True a chef can make a recipe and give it to a Cook and the cook goes thru the process of making it..
Nabisco never hired a chef , they are making a cracker not a Entrie ...
Please if you want to see a chef at work watch a Baker Finish his cake , then ask yourself "Can a Machine do this?"
True a Baker isnt a chef but this game doesnt seperate a chef from a baker or a bartender
which are actualy 3 diferent professions but oh well...
As someone who was a cook I don't agree with Master chef foods being factory made.
I agree with factories making weaker foods then hand crafted though if you want to mass produce you get mass produced quality..
Take McDonalds big mac for dinner
vs
A sautied pepercorn, pure 1/2lbsangus beef cheddar and fried red onion dressed with green leaf and a grilled on butter bun.
Sure there both a hamburger... which one is going to taste beter and keep you filled up longer?
This may come as a surprise to you, but the foods you make as a real life chef do not grant you +1000 hit points or +300 willpower or +250 strength for 10 minutes.
Chef is a buffing profession. It makes things that improves people's stats, like a doctor or smuggler. It does not produce intricate wedding cakes or back yard barbeques. Even if you wanted to cater an event, doing so is a stretch since you can't see anyone eat, food is consumed instantly and you can't taste it or customize the appearence.
In short, you are looking at the chef as if it was a roleplaying profession and it simply isn't. It's a profession that makes useful consumables, similar to weapon powerups.
If you want to roleplay with your Jawa Beer (which I can't see you drink, which you can't taste and which you always drink instantly) fine, but you can still roleplay with Jawa Beer that comes out of a factory in stacks of 100 and grants +250 strength for 2 hours.
Make the chef into a useful profession and you will still have your silly roleplayability. I don't understand the logic in wanting chefs to be a useless class that are ONLY good for roleplay.
PS,
The Coca-Cola Bottling Company does not hand craft each individual can of coke, nor does Budweiser hand craft each individual can of beer.
They use factories.
