Just try andchase us away. The grind couldn't do it, the bugs couldn't do it, the negative holo-grinders couldn't do it, and countless other things couldn't do it... I'd like to see you try.

As for that entire thread... was the intention to point out the faults of the correspondent system in favor of a committee/focus group system? I'm pretty sure the same fears of exploit of information and corruption would still be there, just on a bigger scale. The point of it just seemed to degrade as it went on.

I gotta speak up on this one. I have been watching this board for a while, thinking of going chef, and, I am very sorry to say, I accidently hit hy Holiday Holo and heard Chef. So, I decided to listen to it as fate and I started my climb last week. I want to say here that I will not grind, I am going slow but actually make food and give it to my guildmates or sell it atbazaar for very little to try to get the benefits of food out in public.

Anyway, having watched several other boards, there are some correspondents who are aggresive in their approach, but you are not in that group. Everything I have seen here points to a level of professionalism that is to be admired. I have gotten more good info here than anywhere else. Keep up the good work!

See you all in the master room in a month or two

You're doing an excellent job, SirVImes - keep it up. You balance a need to know with actually knowing and a big ol' NDA the likes of which have not been seen since beta.

I don't post often;everything I haveread has been even-handed and lucid, so...excelsior.

Just two things.

Don't tell me, "You suck!" Tell me, "You suck because.....!"

Secondly....if you ever accuse me of something dishonest, please have the proof to back it up, or at least specific details.

I really want to represent the chef community, even those that don't like me. So if you have a complaint about what I am doing, please talk (not rant) with me. I will do my best.

it might appear that we're (or rather I'm) a yes man, but from my perspective, you just understand the chef profession (probably better than I do) along with its potential, present shortcomings and annoyances. Yousa doin grand job. (don't shoot me for referencing gungans, thank you)

Don't let the conspiracy nutjobs get ya down. The correspondents, on the whole, do a great job for no pay and little thanks.

You are easily one of the reasons I am proud to be a chef.

You already know my opinion SirVimes - the thread you mentioned was the one I referred to in my Thank You post. You are awesome and you know it - the only complaint I would have is you spend FAR too much time on these boards to be healthy! :>

You know, I've been doing some thinking about this (while procrastinating at work), and believe this is probably directed at the "corresponents" and not SirVimes in particular. I have spent a lot of time looking at other boards, and the Chef board is by far the most intelligent and civilized (except for the pricing discussions hehe) of the boards.

You wouldn't believe how many other professions cry and harrangue SOE & their correspondent for pie-in-the-sky wishes... things like "We should be able to use 2 guns as a special ability" or "we need two (to five)characters per server"... and when they are told "not possible" by their mod (or by the correspondent in the mod's place) they cry foul.

Honestly, I can see complaints coming from the Bounty Hunter forums, the Commando forums... even the Smuggler forums (although I must say that there are a number of very clever people over there). I highly doubt this was a personal attack on our loyal Chef Correspondent, but was more likely a complaint at an un-named station for reasons beyond their control.

...and if those complaints came to the attention of SOE, they would be obligated to follow up with an e-mail to their correspondents reminding them that they should be acting in a certain way...

Just a guess....

I dabble in a lot of professions, and chef has been one of my favourites

IMO, you are one of the finest correspondents and a great example of how the system should work

The forthcoming changes and the past bug fixes can be laid partly at your door, you have a great deal to be proud of

If you get one-starred, as I do quite often, think of it as an intelligence test?

Too lazy and stupid to argue? This is for you

we had bad times, a little while back. Bugs that killed the profession (not to mention the whole game), werent sorted out for weeks and weeks, with no-one in the Dev team seeming to care or wanting to communicate. I know I lost faith for a while there and had the odd rant (I feel such a heel now).

But I never ranted against you SirVimes (or any individual to be fair), or felt any desire or need to, never felt like you didnt care, and never saw you say something you shouldnt have.

You were a superb correspondent then and you remain one now. If you yourself ever need evidence of all the things you have achieved (I'm pretty sure noone else does), I think the wonderful upcoming changes are the proof in the pudding (if I may be permitted a chef pun)

I'm going to concur with Oddsie in relation to the thread, I also posted on the "Thank You" thread floating around here.

However,

I do not think that there could be a better corespondant for chef right now, and you definitley have the professions support. I don't think that's in doubt.

This isn't meant to sound negative at all, just an observation. If someone is so mad at the correspondent or other people on the board, that person would tend not to stay around. Correct? So now we are 6+ months into the game. I believe you are the first correspondent but can't say for certainty. Sooner of later many people on a board are going to agree with you(or you agree with the rest)and be very happy with all the work you put into it(myself included). So when someone does speak out against you, not saying it has happened here but maybe in other forums, many other people come to your aid.

Your doing a great job as always.

I can tell why he took so much heat. It's because he makes insulting accusations of corruption against the correspondents without ever backing them up. In fact, he admits to having no proof, saying:

We have no hard evidence of wrong-doing, just suspicion based upon the Correspondents trying to PREVENT oversight over their positions.

There you have it. He's convicts the correspondents based on "suspicion". Sorry, but where I live that doesn't satisfy the burden of proof.

Also note how he says "we have no hard evidence" as opposed to "I have no hard evidence". He does this repeatedly, seemingly under the delusion that he speaks for the rest of the players. Ironic that he should accuse correspondents of pushing their own views as that of the players, then do the same thing.
