Thread: I'm getting tired, the pending retirement of sciguyCO

And it goes without saying that I'm going to be sticking around this board.
should I keep bringing up?
I'm pretty sure I got this position because I was an well known, smart-alecknow-it-all on the chef forum when SirVimes stepped down. I still like being a smart alec know-it-all, I don't really see that changing (other than letting the new correspondant handle the hard work of dealing with the devs). As a Blue Glowie, I'll have access to the correspondant forum for 30 days after the new guy/girl takes over to help ease the transition (which should also put us pretty close to finalization of the CU), and I will always try to be an "old fogey" of the chef community.
I started Chef long before I became active on the boards. When I first arrived here, I was astounded that the Chef Correspondent was only 10pts (like me).....A pistoleer(like me).....and remarkably knowledgeable about the Chef profession (UNLIKE me). I felt right at home immediately. Having bounced around from server to server under many names and many accounts, finally settling with Chef on Starsider has been the most fun I have ever had in a game.
And it would not have been such a fun and prosperous ride without the help of you Kriles. You are always helpful, and refrain almost religiously from making statements of fact that you have not actually tested yourself. You are always interested in new ideas, and do not carry yourself with a holier-then-thou attitude that all too often can be found in those who occupy volunteer positions of authority in any community.
I am very glad to hear that you are not leaving the game or the profession, and I salute your sage decision to move on when you realize you are ready to pass the torch. By setting the example of professional and even-tempered responses in the forums, you have created an atmosphere on the Chef boards that has bred a number of very capable successors. That, among other things, will be your legacy.
Finally to the incoming Correspondent: I wish you luck (whomever you may be). I envy you, and if I had the time I would surely apply for it myself. Judging from the responses in that thread so far....I doubt we could be left in incapable hands regardless of the selected successor. Most are very well known, and I am sure many are extremely qualified. I pledge my support to you, in whatever manner I can contribute, and pass on the faith I have held in Kriles to YOU. We will need your voice and your strength in these coming weeks....perhaps more than ever before in the history of the profession.
Sorry for the long post...and sorry for my tardiness. Get hung up with work for ONE day....and see what happens?
Regards,
Vomit

Sheesh, people, I'm dying!
Oh, this is terrible! We gotta start a Save-the-Sciguy fund.
And this is why I'll never leave. You guys are weird. ![]()
/puts out sign: Will refrain from dying for credits or experimentation tapes...
And Mep, if you want to start a rumor, try something more believable, like I was kicked out due to stealing all the Dev's girlfriends, or something. ![]()
