I have to disagree with this one. Although it may not be much, but if you experiment all of your experiment points on nutrition on carbosyrup and dough, and then use it in say Air Cake or Blap Biscuit the buff value is much higher than if you don't. The same goes for flavor. Yes, it may not be a significant difference, possibly only a +15 increase, but it is something. I know I can make the negative Health buff on a blap biscuit become positive by just experimenting nothing but the nutritional value of my carborsyrups and dough.

Are you sure its not the actual stats of the resources you used? Because I notice no difference in experimented and unexperimented components but I do notice a difference when I use poor reasources or when I use excellent resources.

Just so we're clear, this bug appears to be fixed on TestCenter. They even added Modifiers and Encumberance columns to the status pane on the character sheet so you can see what's happening to your stats and why.

If there is another bug that I'm unaware of, please PM me or /tell me ingame and I'll check and see if it behaves that way on TC or not.

GREAT! Then they should push it live...perhaps, oh, say--YESTERDAY!

Good job, SirVimes.

I would like to see an indicator of what the carbosyrups, dough, soypro, and any other item that doesn't have a buff will do when you are done with it. Perhaps an indicator with a percentage of how much it will increase the base buff. For instance a piece of soypro will normally increase the flavor 10% and nutritional value 10%, but when you experiment 3 times on flavor, it increases it to 20% added flavor to the food you use the soypro in. This is in addition to any of the "Optional Additives" you may use in the soypro.

I do like the fact that chef takesa while to go up through, but I think it should be quickened, just a teansy bit. Maybe it would go a bit faster if we actually got UXP when people use our food from across the galaxy. I know I would have gotten a ton of UXP last week if this was working correctly, but I didn't get any.

Good work, by the way, Sir Vimes. I forgot to say that in my excitedness of such a great post and chance that the devs will hear our cries!

I'm sure, Saitek. You can do this yourself with Air Cake. Use the same resources ineach of your carbosyrups and dough. Make two of each. One experimented completely on the nutritional value, and the other set no experimenting at all. Then make two Air Cakes and see if they have different beginning stats. It's worked for me.

I will try it with a chef food, I think that there is a difference between Artisan foods and Chef foods. Seems like Artisan foods actually work properly.

These are some really cool ideas

I'm new to the game, and amidst all the bugs I’m still trying to become a chef. It would be nice if they could do something to cause people to want to look for a Chef. So far I haven't had much luck with food at all - I can't even give it away to mostpeople. I've had more luck selling clothes than food and I don't want to be a tailor

Good luck Bulfing. Stick with it and maybe SOE will make good on the ideas they started with but completely failed to carry through. There a lot of great posts here, and I don't think I could add anything better. I just want to mention the obvious again (mainly for SOE staffers;the players are a lot more aware of the state of the game and profession). I continually run into players that don't even know what food does! Perhaps they think it is just for the sake of roleplaying. A decorative facade that has no real use. Bulfing is right when he says he has trouble giving his food/drink away. Early in myDomestic Arts history, I tried giving away free food and drinks in the cantinas only to be ignored by almost all the players. A few kind souls would take my food and tip me out of pure pity. I once got a 5000 credit tip from a "former" Master Chef who said he "identified" with me. I was very grateful for the tip but it forced me to took a good, hard look at my profession. That same night I stopped all food crafting and took up Medic skills. Now I am needed, now I get income, now people go out of their way for my services! This is the way it should be with the lonely chef!!!

Saitek,

I believe I tried this with Soypro's as well, and they worked, too, but it wouldn't hurt to double check on them.

One mroe question, did you do these by hand or by factory, so I can mimick the process.

By hand. I'm not using factories at the moment for maximum XP gain.

Be sure to use all of your experimentation points only ONE of the stats to test it out. I've noticed a bigger difference with Nutritional value over Flavor.

I have never had a problem giving away food or drinks. You just have to add some roleplaying into it, especially in the cantina where quite a few people want to roleplay. For a while I resided in the Coronet and I made a point to give free drinks and snacks to the entertainers. I charged a small nominal fee for everyone else, but what I found was that even the entertainers started hawking my goods.

It just takes a lot of work and quick fingers (or some planning ahead of time with macros) to do it. Now, one thing that would make it FAR better is the idea to allow a food/drink cart/vendor which people could buy from. I missed a lot of sales while trying to utilize the secure trade.

I really like the idea of a buffet or bbq. That would so totally kick some you know what and would add a LOT to the roleplaying aspects of the game.

For example, Saturday night a casino opened outside of Theed on Naritus. The head of the PA hired two musicians (myself and another) and several dancers to entertain. The place looked spectactular and we were all very impressed. However, I would have liked to have seen a chef in the building offering drinks and food instead of a static vendor. Would have added more to the feel of the place.

I think that if you're using actual components, experimentation does have an effect on the final item. I did some tests comparing unexperimented Aludium and ones where I maxed the Nutrition (both using the same resources), and the buff size of the Durindfires I craftedended up about 15-20 points higher when using the experimented components. This is in addition to the improvement you see using high-quality resources.

However, I haven't been able to get experimented food items used as components (like starshines in a Sunburn recipe) to make a difference on the final item. The tests I was doing focused on quantity, so I may need to do some more analyses with the Nutrition and Flavor & Texture.
